There was an unnatural expression on Jessie's face. It was indeed hard work. He seemed to have lost his appetite for dinner...

Winona remained to be somewhat absent-minded. She said to them in a low voice, "Go on now. If anyone asks, I'll tell them that the two were drinking upstairs and you were never here." Suzy sneered. "I don't think anyone's going to pursue this matter anymore."

A hint of doubt flashed in Winona's eyes, and she soon realized that Suzy was spot on. Once the two people on the bed woke up, one could imagine how awkward it would be for them. They would never try to pursue this further. The villa was equipped with surveillance cameras, but this was George's territory, so they could not probe anything out even if they wanted to. They could merely be pent-up on unspoken grievances and act as if nothing had happened. Suzy and Jessie returned to the villa. She said nothing to George. After changing her clothes, she brought the bracelet over to visit Mrs. Merck.

Once Suzy left, Jessie proceeded to tell George what had happened earlier. George merely sat on the chair. He raised his hand and stroked his forehead. He could not help but want to laugh. Why was his little lady so adorable? Even her method of setting someone up was cute! Jessie paused for a while and said in a low voice, "Everything Ms. Shirley did was all for you, Mr. Laine."

A soft hue flashed across George's eyes. He nodded slowly and said, "I know." Jessie stopped at this point and did not say anything else. Then, he respectfully backed away

Mrs. Merck did not expect that she could truly relocate her grandmother's bracelet. She looked at it for quite some time, and tears started welling up in her eyes. She even started to sob several times.

"Thank you, Suzy!" Mrs. Merck said gratefully, "Is there anything that you'd like me to do for you? Tell me and I'll definitely help you out!"

Suzy thought for a while, then slowly shook her head. "This bracelet is your grandmother's life-long wish as well as yours. Mr. River didn't ask for anything for it, so I don't need you to do anything for me either." Mrs. Merck looked at her in astonishment, seemingly grateful.

Suzy did not want to disturb Mrs. Merck as she reminisced about her family, so she got up and said goodbye. "Suzy!" Mrs. Merck said suddenly. She stepped forward and looked at Suzy tenderly. "May I

have a hug?" Suzy paused and nodded. "Of course!" Mrs. Merck leaned forward, hugged Suzy gently, and said with a smile, "Do you know that you and Mr. Laine are quite similar to me and my husband when we were young? It's been really nice to meet you. I wish you life-long happiness!" Suzy wanted to say that they were not the same as she and George were merely lovers.

Lovers and couples were still different, after all.'

However, she did not explain it and simply smiled. "Thank you!"

The entire afternoon afterward, Suzy and George stayed indoors. The two read books together, talked, and laughed. Occasionally, they leaned on the sofa to make out. When Suzy could barely breathe, George would stop and kiss her tightly closed eyes gently.

There was no news from Bennett's side, so they figured that after the two woke up, they secretly hid themselves. In the evening, Hilde invited George to dinner but not Bennett.

Around ten o'clock at night, George came back, walked to the balcony, squatted down in front of Suzy, and held her hands to kiss them. Under the moonlight, his handsome face was calm and noble. He asked her akin to an invitation, "Would you like to be happy, Ms. Shirley?" There was a glitter in Suzy's eyes. She put down the book in her hand and leaned over to kiss his lips.

"Mm!"

In the distant hills, a nightingale sang without sleeping, and the breeze swept the humid air. The stamens were rolling about, and the whole manor was scented with the faint fragrance of pollen.

In the second half of the night, when the moonlight broke through the clouds, a few rays of soft moonlight fell into the room through the white curtain. Everything gradually became

quiet.
