The unwanted wife’s unexpected comeback -
Chapter 127
Chapter 127:
? ? ? ? ?
Caden's expression hardened.
Alicia paused for a moment, then explained, “When I was in college, I went for a checkup, and the doctor complimented me during the breast exam.”
“A male doctor?” Caden asked.
“Of course not. That would be inappropriate, wouldn't it?” Alice replied.
Caden's expression seemed to relax a little.
He adjusted his clothes and began to recount the day's events in a serious tone.
“Should I help Gina? What do you think?” I have asked.
Caden appreciated her asking for his opinion. It made him feel like she trusted him.
“Do you want to help her?” I have asked.
“Yes,” Alicia said, making it clear that she sympathized with Gina. “Harley is the only family she has. It’s very sad.”
“Then help her,” Caden replied. “She’s a better choice than Rachel anyway.”
Alice let out a sigh of relief and smiled.
“I should head to the hospital. Harley is still waiting for surgery,” he said. “I'll cover the costs. You take care of Randolph and get him to talk.”
When she tried to get up, Caden pulled her.
I have guided her hand towards some dangerous place.
"When do you plan to deal with this?" I have asked.
Alice quickly pulled her hand away, feeling the heat of her demand.
“We'll see,” he replied. It was broad daylight, so he was in no mood to continue. “Take less medication and try to get some proper rest.”
Caden didn't respond.
With Harley's life in danger, Alice wasted no time. She immediately set out to replace Gina.
To keep her identity hidden from Lilliana's people, she had Caden create a fake philanthropist persona to donate the funds for Harley's surgery. Alicia didn't show up at the hospital. She stayed throughout the operation, although she did not make her presence known.
When night finally fell, the operation was over and Harley was wheeled out on a stretcher.
Gina rushed over. “Doctor, how’s Harley?”
"Fortunately, the operation was carried out on time. He is out of danger," the doctor said.
Gina's legs buckled, and she began to cry.
From the corner, Alice breathed a sigh of relief. By the time Gina settled Harley into her room, it was already late.
I have hesitated for a long time before deciding to approach Alicia.
The night air was cold, and Alice rubbed her fingers together to warm them. “How’s Harley?” she asked.
Gina stared at her for a moment.
"I will pay you back your medical expenses in installments. Thank you for your help," he said, his voice full of gratitude.
Hearing this, Alice couldn't help but feel a slight pang of disappointment.
It was understandable. Siding with Alicia meant opposing Lilliana. If Gina decided to accept her help, she would basically be going against Lilliana.
For Gina, that could have serious consequences.
“There is no need to pay me back. It was just a donation,” Alicia says. “I am glad that the operation went well. That is all that matters.”
After a brief silence, Alice added: "I'm going now. You should rest."
Gina's eyes filled with tears. "Mrs. Bennett, please stop this. The Green family is too powerful, and Mr. Yates is ruthless. He's not worth it."
Alice laughed softly. “I'm not doing this to earn it. “I’m doing it to survive.”
When Alicia left, Gina stood in the cold hallway, crying silently.
It was true that she was afraid.
That's why she couldn't help Alice.
Gina hated Lilliana too, but she had a sick sister to take care of. She couldn't afford to get into trouble, or worse, lose her job.
When her legs went numb, Gina finally returned to the living room.
He had barely sat down when there was a knock at the door.
He expected it to be the doctor, but was surprised to replace a delivery man instead.
The man handed her an expensive meal. Gina looked at him in confusion. “I didn't order anything.”
"Mrs. Bennett ordered it for you," the delivery man explained.
Gina's heart sank. She thanked him as she held the box.
After leaving the hospital, Alice decided to visit Monica. To cheer her up, Monica took her to a newly opened themed coffee shop where male models dressed as valets served customers.
“Butlers?” Alice asked, apparently confused.
“Yes, valets,” Monica replies enthusiastically. “A bunch of male models dressed as valets, serving us. “We can eat, drink and enjoy their company.”
Alice was momentarily speechless before deciding to leave.
As he turned around, he accidentally collided with a valet carrying a small cake.
The valet held her gently. He had curly hair, a charming smile and eyes that sparkled. “Careful, madam,” he said.
Alice was momentarily stunned. She couldn't help but look at his face.
Monica laughed. “They're not bad, are they?”
Alice smiled weakly. “They must have cost quite a bit,” she said, looking at the tall, well-built figure of the valet. “You can tell by his appearance. “Male models in clubs are often expensive.”
“It's a new place and I got a discount. It’s not that expensive,” Monica said, pulling Alicia along. “Come on, it's just a bit of light-hearted fun. Nothing serious.”
Monica dragged Alicia inside.
Aside from the attractive valets, the food was also impressive.
The valets were attentive, easily adapting to each guest's preferences. If they sensed interest, they would flirt a little; If not, they simply focused on serving food and drinks.
Alice only touched a few hands and a couple of faces, nothing more.
After eating, a valet kindly walked her to the door.
“If you enjoyed my company, you can ask me for another visit,” he said, writing his name on his palm. “I hope to see you again.”
Alice felt a little shy. “Of course.”
He said those words even though he knew he wouldn't be back.
Who could resist that kind of charm?
Seeing that they had chemistry, Monica cleared her throat and made up an excuse. “Alicia, I have to go. Let me know when you get home.”
He winked at Alice, subtly suggesting that she not hold back.
Alicia pretended not to notice and simply said goodbye.
A short distance away, the window of an elegant Maybach rolled down, revealing a striking face.
Caden leaned on his hand, smirking as he watched Alicia's fascination.
