Elisha's POV:

*As Agnes; in the palace*

I always feel drained when I think about the past. After completing the task of unpacking, I decided to take it easy for the rest of the afternoon and relax. And I waited for things to happen or for them to call me. As soon as night fell, a dinner was presented to me by the maids. I immediately thought of how beastly they were when I saw my plate. They have a big portion of meat and potato on the side. If it was easy for them to kill someone, what more about other animals? I was in the middle of eating the mashed potato when I heard a knock on my door.

"Madam Agnes, your presence is requested by the king."

"Oh, goodness, I will be right there."

"I will be waiting outside, madam." The butler said.

"Give me a second, sir. I need to put on my shoes and, prepare my bag of potions. It's not easy being old, you know."

I took my time going to the king's chateau. They wouldn't take it against an older woman if she's late, would they?

So, I changed my clothes, finished my mashed potato, put on my shoes, and got my bag. True to his word, the butler patiently stood outside the room until I had finished my preparations. As we made our way down the seemingly endless hallways, our footsteps echoed against the walls. I was guided to the living room by the butler. There, tall men were standing. The men in the room give off a sense of power and strength, but none is the king. A few minutes later, a man who exuded more power and fear came into the room. I did a little curtsy and introduced myself. Of course, throughout our conversation, I acted my part as an old witch.

"As soon as I stepped foot into the kingdoms territory, an unsettling sensation consumed me. It was like the whole place was enveloped with dark magic."

They trusted me too quickly. The topic soon turned to the assembly of an army, and plans were made to move forward soon after the dark magic was eradicated. "Agnes, what is your relationship with Elisha?" And that's where I told them a fake lie that Elisha is my daughter, and I was looking for her to set things right.

Although, of course, the part about my revenge for my father's death was true. Soon after, I proceeded to help them remove the dark magic in the kingdom. They were able to get his mate back, and so on. Since this was a success, the king - Lucas - rewarded me with gold coins and said he would let the Council of Witches decide the fate of my daughter. And so, the wolf took me back to the village, and I left the coven. *Present*

As I made my way through the dense forests and quaint villages, the anticipation of getting to their hideout grew stronger with every step. I have been a couple of times already, but I still think the journey was rough. Upon entering the border, the guards were alerted, but when they saw me, they let me in. As I ventured further into the depths of the forest, my eyes were greeted by the sight of a little village nestled amongst the trees-a village where dirty wolves reside. I ventured down the stony path en route to Alpha's abode. His house is not as grand as other Alphas that I know of. It was a run-down version of an ordinary wolf's house.

"Witch, you're back," the rogue's Alpha, Boris, said.

"We're done with phase 1. So, better prepare your pack."

"They are all ready. Just give the command. But don't forget your promise - gold."

I tossed him the reward I got from Lucas. A grin spread across his face as he peered into the contents of the bag.

The bag contained a precious pocketful of gold. There is nothing more precious for Boris than money and power. "Consider that as a partial payment."

"Aren't you being generous? This is more than half of what we agreed on."

"That's just a tiny percentage of what I will get in return. Just be glad that I am being generous."

"And oh, my son has been waiting for you. You know how he is whenever you leave. Better check on him."

After leaving his home, I ventured deeper into the mountains. Whenever I'm here, the mountains are my go-to spot. I found a cozy little cave tucked away in the valley of the mountain where I could take refuge and hide myself away. Not only am I close to nature, but in this way, I am also away from wolves. Deep within this humble abode of mine, I toil away at crafting potions and delving into the mysteries of the dark arts. But a problem welcomed me as I entered the cave.

"What took you so long?" Jasper asked irritatingly.

"None of your business. And get out of here, Jasper."

"Some attitude you got there."

"Just get out! I need to work on my potions!"

"Tss. D*mn witch! Remember, you still owe me big time! So, you better have that attitude of yours in check."

He eventually left the cave, and now I have peace alone.

Jasper and I met after Chloe. Let's say we had a rough start. I experimented with the potion on the first Wolf I came across, which was him. He was left heartbroken as his mate rejected him and cut the once unbreakable bond between them when she saw him with another wolf. His anger boiled over when he discovered my actions, prompting him to report the incident to his father. I remember that he appeared smug on that particular day.

However, his expression quickly changed when his father realized how helpful I would be to him. In short, he favored me. But it didn't stop Jasper from trying to make my life a living hell while I was here. Sometimes, I must put my foot down and threaten to stop making these potions. It's the only way to get him to stop. I can tell he was smart enough not to rile me up.

****

Later that evening, Boris and I had a meeting once more.

Time is essential, and we must act swiftly to carry out our plan. Boris assured us that he would rally more wolves to our cause the next time around.

"How many wolves have you got?"

"A thousand."

"Only a thousand?! If we want to win this war, we need more! A mere thousand wolves would not stand against the tens of thousands of soldiers the kingdom has! You are so!"

"Watch it, Missy! You're in my territory, and I could snap your neck right here, right now." Boris growled at me.

"You need me more than I need you," I said strongly. He knows it. This plan wouldn't work without me.

"Overly confident. That just might be the thing that will kill you."

"Enough chit-chat! Now, tell me, can you get more wolves?"

"I might be able to replace more packs that can help us."

"You should have done that earlier, Borris."

"Strike two, witch! I'm warning you. You don't want to suffer like your father."

I was abruptly halted in my tracks. I was seething with rage. How dare he bring up my father in this conversation?!

He was quite aware that discussing my father was a sensitive topic. Boris was the only one here who knew what happened to my father. To win his confidence, I had to reveal the truth to him.

"What did you say, Boris?" I made sure to put extra emphasis on his name.

"You don't want to end up like your father, I say." His tone was challenging.

"HOW DARE YOU?! You mother*cking animal!" I couldn't control my fury.

A thunderous growl escaped his lips. I couldn't help but notice his sharp teeth, almost protruding from his mouth.

His fur was also quite visible, adding to the intensity of the moment. He was on the verge of transforming into his wolf form. Without hesitation, I readied myself and conjured up a powerful incantation. Thankfully, my quick thinking paid off when he suddenly attacked me. I had the foresight to create a powerful shield, which I used to launch him back and keep myself safe. Things got a bit heated, and we ended up in a scuffle. I had to resort to dark magic to protect myself, but he was not one to back down and retaliate with equal force. He tried to bite my neck, but I was quick to dodge. With all my might, I propelled him forward until he collided with the wall.

"ENOUGH!" I yelled at him. "We are not here to fight! We should be working together!"

Our gaze remained locked in a silent battle. As I braced myself for another blow, he suddenly transformed into his human form. Now that we've both had a chance to collect our thoughts, we have both calmed down. "This should not happen again, Boris. We must avoid fighting amongst ourselves. It won't benefit any of us. We should put all our attention to our plan and execute it." "Fine. Let's set this aside for now."

I departed from his abode, and we have plans to reconvene once more tomorrow. In a fortnight, we shall conclude our strategy for the assault on the kingdom. For now, I will let them have some peaceful and quiet days.
