Lucas' POV:

Silas and Tommy had just come back from a short trip to the village. Little did I know that the expression on their faces would catch me off guard. There were also no signs of Agnes. So, something happened to Agnes after all. Silence filled the room as we sat there, unsure who should break it first. No one seemed to have the words ready on their tongue, so we waited, tense anticipation building with each passing moment.

"So, what happened? I don't think it's good based on the look on your faces.'

Both of them remained silent. A moment of silence passed as both individuals exchanged uneasy glances, anticipating that the other would break the ice first. "So?"

"Your Majesty, uhm, you see..." Tommy is still talking his way around.

"We're wasting time here, people!" I quietly growled. I was feeling increasingly restless, and my tolerance was wearing thin.

"Your Majesty, Agnes was not in the coven."

"What do you mean, Silas?"

"She was not there at all. Agnes was never in the coven or the village."

I must admit, I was feeling quite perplexed about his message. How could she not be in the village? What did he mean by never? Silas might have noticed my confusion. "Agnes never existed."

"Then who was the witch in my living room the other day?

Who was the witch that helped us with the dark magic?"

"That was not Agnes."

"Tell me what's going on! Stop running around the bush!"

"That was not Agnes. Because that was Elisha herself."

The information caught me off guard. It alarmed me about the witch's ability to hide herself and blend in with our community. She seems to possess a great deal of power. She could be anyone right now.

"Their high priestess gave us a warning. If Elisha can do this, it means that she is this powerful. Not even the high priestess could stop her right now." Silas added.

"I didn't expect her to be this powerful. Is there anything we can do to stop her? At least weaken her?"

Tommy and Silas pulled out something from their bags. It looked like a couple of beads or charms. How would those help us against a powerful witch?!

"The priestess gave this to us. Amulets to protect us, and an evil eye to ward off any evil, and it will open our third eye. The evil eye would be most important in detecting dark magic and warding off evil." "Charms and beads. How does it work?"

I'm a bit skeptical about this. I need to witness it firsthand before I'm fully convinced these amulets would work. From the expressions on their faces, it became clear to me that they were just as clueless as I was. I sighed deeply. I guess we cannot confirm the powers of the evil eye and amulets.

"We can see this will work. I'll give the other one to Cory."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"Also, check with Chloe where Elisha could be hiding. She should know something. Extract that information from her by every means possible."

They both acknowledged each other and departed. The news | received was quite unexpected. As soon as their words sank in, I realized that Elisha was an even greater threat than I had initially thought. Whatever her plans are, they may result in a catastrophic outcome for the kingdom.

It seems that these days, Cory has been feeling quite improved. After her bed rest, she spent most of her days either in the library, helping whip delicious meals in the kitchen, or hanging out with us in the living room. Given the time, she should already be in our room. After catching up with Silas and Tommy, I made my way back to our room.

She found herself lost in the pages of yet another book today. And not just any book, a parenting book

"Hey, love."

"Hi Lucas, you're back." As she gently set the book aside, she turned to me and asked, "How was your meeting with Silas and Tommy? How was Agnes?"

I took a deep breath. And immediately, she knew something was wrong. I shared with her the insightful information that I gathered from Silas and Tommy. Imagine her surprise when she found out what had happened. As she gently touched her growing belly, she softly uttered. "What happens now? How will we replace someone who disguises herself?"

"We were gifted with amulets by the high priestess to shield us from harm and an evil eye to ward off any negativity lurking in our midst. Here, have this one. I'm not entirely sure how effective it is, but it's better than nothing."

She carefully placed the amulet on a sleek black string, adorning it around her neck as a necklace. She did the same to the other one and handed it to me.

"Here's yours, Lucas. I hope this works."

"Me too. You had better get some rest. We have a visit to Dr.

Miranda's office tomorrow."

******

Cory and I made our way to Dr. Miranda's clinic bright and early this morning. Dr. Miranda has some good news for us today! We're finally going to replace out whether our furry little friend is a boy or a girl. I have been looking forward to this day. Lately, Cory and my pup are the only ones to alleviate my stress and worry. We made it to the clinic on schedule and followed the same routine. Despite the early hours, Dr.

Miranda's office was already bustling with patients. Soon, the nurse called us, and we proceeded to Dr. Miranda's office.

"His and Her Highness! Good to see you both again. Have a seat." As we were seated, she added, "We have a series of prenatal tests scheduled for today. During your appointment, we will need to perform several tests, including checking your blood pressure, measuring your weight, monitoring the fetal heart rate, conducting blood tests, and performing an ultrasound exam to determine the gender of the pup."

After drawing blood from Cory, Dr. Miranda instructed her to lie on the bed for a check-up on the puppy's heart rate and gender. Cory felt a chill as the jelly made contact with her belly, as she shivered a bit. The gentle touch of the probe soon followed, and she couldn't help but feel excited.

And there it was again, my pup's heartbeat.

"Everything is good. Your little pup is in good health! So, are you ready to know the gender?"

I held Cory's hand, and she said, "Yes, Dr. Miranda. I have been looking forward to this!"

"Alright. It's a ..."

As soon as our examination with Dr. Miranda was over, we made our way out of her office. Hearing that Cory and the little pup are both doing well brings me great joy. And knowing my childs gender brought a nice feeling.

"How are we going to tell everyone? I bet they are as excited as us." As we made our way to the chateau, Cory turned to me and asked with a curious tone.

"Hmm. Shouldn't we just tell them directly that it's a..."

"Ah! Let's ask the pastry chef to prepare a small cake for dessert later! The filling would be pink for a girl and blue for a boy. I think it will be a surprise, and I can't wait to see the look on their faces!"

I didn't have the heart to object when I saw the unmistakable glee on Cory's face. And as soon as we arrived at the chateau, she went immediately to the kitchen.

When she came back to the living room, she had a smile plastered on her face. There was no mistaking it - the pastry chef was more than happy to fulfill her request. The day slipped away before I knew it, and soon, everyone arrived at the chateau. "We've been busy, but don't think we forgot about your check-up! So? What is it, a boy or a girl?" Ellie asked excitedly.

"Yeah! We've been looking forward to it!" Iris and Lola chimed in.

"Hmm. Why don't we wait until dessert?" Cory was killing them by withholding the gender of the pup.

"Ha? Why until then?!" The three exclaimed

"Ha ha ha! Let's have dinner, shall we?"

Well, they weren't able to do anything about it. So, everyone sat down in their places and ate dinner. Tonight, we had a special menu as we're celebrating our pup! In a matter of minutes, the ladies were done eating. It seems like they devoured their meals quicker than the rest of us, which is quite impressive!

"Alright. So dinner time! What's the gender?"

"Oh my goddess! You devoured the steak that quickly for the answer? Ha ha ha!" I was in such disbelief!

"Alfred, do you mind bringing out the cake?"

"Of course, Her Majesty. Coming right up!"

Upon his arrival, Alfred presented a delectable 6-inch cake smothered in rich, chocolate goodness. The cake was adorned with a darling baby, a petite wolf, and a cluster of colorful balloons on top. With great anticipation, Alfred passed us the knife. The room was buzzing with excitement as we all eagerly awaited the moment when we would know the gender. Without wasting time, Cory and I began slicing into the cake, hearts racing with anticipation.

We carefully lifted the slice of cake to unveil the delightful surprise inside - the vibrant hue of the filling. Then, I heard screeching squeals.

"It's a future...QUEEN!" They raised their voices in unison, creating a chorus of loud exclamations.

We were all laughing hard at how excited they were. It was a great plan to surprise them, indeed. And, yes, soon, Cory and I will welcome the future queen of the wolves.
