The Wife I Never Met -
Chapter 158
When Donna noticed how everyone was looking at her , she looked back at them and asked,
” what? Why are you guys looking at me like that? “
” Well I’m just surprised that a whole doctor like you isn’t used to expensive wine just like us.”
This time Melissa spoke up for her sister,
” Stop it you guys, she may be a doctor but that still doesn’t change our background, we just need to learn the good stuff on our own as we grow up.”
” I guess we are all but the same bunch then, hehehe.” They laughed it up and continued to enjoy themselves to a point where they even forgot that they had to go down for dinner. Later on in the night they heard a knock at the door and Donna volunteered to go and open, only to replace Ciara standing at the door.
“What happened to you guys, are you not hungry Dinner was served a long time ago and you didn’t show up.”
” Shoot!”
Donna said as she covered her mouth with one of her hands,
“Finnick must be worried about me, God we totally forgot. Hey Mel, what’s the time there?”
Everyone started panicking as they didn’t go down on time as Ciara had asked them to earlier.
Seeing the panic in their eyes, Ciara smiled in satisfaction.
“It’s thirty minutes past seven.” Melissa shouted.
Now Ciara couldn’t contain herself anymore and ended up laughing out loud.
” I knew this would happen, so I told you the wrong time. Dinner is about to be served anyway, so get ready and come down.”
She said as she turned around and left, leaving the group in disbelief. She continued laughing till she entered the elevator. Now that Ciara had reminded them, they had no choice but to go downstairs and join the others. Since they had been drinking and also had snacks earlier , they weren’t really hungry so they saved their plates for later.
After the meal was done, everyone was given a paper with the agender for the following day’s rehearsal and they then all returned to their rooms to rest as it was already late at night.
As Lina wasn’t Ciara’s responsibility for this weekend she chose to join the girls again in Lisa’s room and have a little sleep over for the last time. They drank the whole night just having fun together after such a long time.
The following morning they all woke up with a killer headache as they have been drinking the whole night, but since they didn’t really have a choice they dragged their tired wornout bodies downstairs to get their breakfast and start up with the day’s activities.
First on the agenda was their wedding rehearsal where they had to go through everything that would happen on the actual wedding day, the wedding planner insisted on this as she didn’t want anything to mess up with her reputation.
Although she wanted what was best for both the bride and groom, her ratings were far more important to her as that would help her maintain the best wedding planner status in the country and of course with that rating she can charge the amount she felt reflected her work ethics.
By the time the group arrived at the Garden where they’ll be practicing at, the planner had already been standing there waiting for them.
“You are late!”
That was the first thing she said with her serious expression while looking at them, making sure they feel the guilt.
“We are only late by two minutes, not a big deal.”
Said Lisa casually as she looked at the watch on her wrist.
“Not a big deal? Let me tell you dear, every second counts in order to have the best wedding otherwise I wouldn’t be here, so yes it is a big deal.”
She then moved her eyes from Lisa to the other people in the garden, clapped her hands twice then continued,
” Ok ladies and gentlemen let’s begin. I need the groomsmen to line up here and the bridesmaids to line up this side so that we can continue with our job here.”
They did just that. Matthew, Finnick, Liam’s brother and one of his old friend from college who flew in just for his wedding lined up just as they were told by the planner.
It was the same with the girls. Lisa, Stacey, Donna and Melissa also went to line up just like they were told.
The practice service then began, with Liam walking up to the alter, then each of the guys walked in locking arms with their partners from the bridal party and waited for Ciara along with Liam.
After some time the music changed and Ciara came in with her father by her side, slowly walking her in the white carpet that was laid down on the grass in the garden.
The wedding planner made them repeat this process a couple of times till she felt that everything was just flawless, by the time they were done with everything it was already afternoon and everyone just wanted to relax and unwind.
They walked back to the dinning hall and grabbed something light to eat.
“Ciara you do know that this is the last time you see Liam before the wedding, right? After this you will still have to spend the night with us.”
This was her mother reminding her of the rules, although she was already married to Liam, rules still applied.
“Yes Aunty is right CiCi, Don’t you worry Aunty we will bring her to our room tonight and will definitely keep an eye on her”
Lisa responded on Ciara’s behalf, the girls had planned to have another round of drinks tonight and this time it was to compensate Ciara for her failed Bachelorette party the last time. Since this was their only chance to make it up to her, they were sure going to use it.
Hillary and Maggie both looked at each other, then at Lisa and shook their heads. Then Maggie warned,
“I know you it’s a joyous occasion but don’t stay up too late, we need the bride fresh and beautiful.”
“Sure thing.”
Said Lisa with her hand raised up, she then looked at Azlea and asked her to be her backer.
“Right Azzy?”
Although Azlea knew that her mother’s request would never be adhered to, she still backed Lisa up.
“Yes that’s true mom, we will make sure that she gets enough sleep so that she gets to her wedding looking fresh and beautiful. “
Ciara looked on as her friends talked on her behalf and knew that they were up to something. She chose not to say anything as she would rather spend the rest of the day with her friends then to be bored with the oldies the whole time, besides if she spends time with the girls then both her mother and mother inlaw will take care of Lina and she can have all the fun she wants without having to worry about her baby.
Once they were all done with their meal, they all had free time to do whatever they wished to do for the rest of the day, the oldies decided to go to the spar so that they can relax a bit and be ready for the coming day while the younger generation chose to gather and celebrate in two rooms, one was for Liam and his male friends and the other was for ciara and her female friends.
In the ladies room, Ciara and her crew started their evening with a few drinks enjoying themselves, this time they were talking about how they all met and what the they thought about the other.
As the alcohol started doing its job in their bodies, they started being curious about what the guys were doing in the other room.
” I can’t see Liam before the wedding tomorrow, so I can’t spy for you guys but maybe Donna can go check for us.”
As Ciara said that, they all turned to Donna only to replace her under the blanket and all tucked in as she was about to fall asleep.
She groggily asked to be counted out from those who would be spying on the guys as she was tired and already feeling drunk.
When they heard that, all heads turned to Stacey, and since she was still holding it together and wasn’t too wasted, she didn’t have a choice but to go.
She knocked on the guys room and was soon told to go in.
Once she was inside she noticed that it was more chilled this side than it was with the girls, none of guys were drunk or close to being drunk even though there a lot of open bottle and empty glasses on the table. Looking at them, you’d swear that they were at a funeral rather than a wedding.
Not knowing what to say, Stacey turned to look at Finnick and said,
” Your wife had too much to drink, she said I must tell you that you’ll be sleeping alone tonight as she is too tired to walked to her room.”
Hearing this, the men in the room laughed at the matter which made Finnick get up and go fetch his wife from the girl’s room, maybe that was a sign that they needed to call it a night.
As Stacey followed behind Finnick, a hand suddenly grabbed her and pulled her away from the door. When she turned to see who it was that was pulling, she saw Matthew.
” Hey let go of me, what are you doing?.”
