Trouble in Paradise (Arianna and Nicholas) -
Chapter 613
Chapter 0613
My heart tightened. "Nicholas, what do you take me for? You're making it sound like I'm taking your advantage."
I lifted my hand and pinched his waist. He cried out in pain and finally let go. I quickly sat up to put some distance between us, glaring at him angrily.
Nicholas narrowed his eyes and wrapped his long arm around my ankle, pulling me closer. "Fine. I want you to take advantage, and I want you to touch me."
I kicked him. But he caught my foot and said before I could react, "Let's be clear, this doesn't mean I'm disrespecting you, it means I'm disrespecting myself."
What was I supposed to say to that?
"Let go!" I coldly ordered, trying to move my foot.
His voice was filled with both helplessness and restraint. 'I'm not letting go. You won't hug me, so can't I just hold your leg?'
Nicholas was being utterly shameless.
"Stop it. We need to wake up early tomorrow. We have important things to do. If you keep this up, we won't sleep tonight."
Nicholas had no choice. He felt like he was about to explode if he stayed any longer.
As he walked towards the door, he couldn't help but try one more time. He turned back to show off his biceps. I've been working out recently."
I didn't say anything and silently urged him to leave with my gaze.
Nicholas said sarcastically, "Looks like I'm not well-built enough. The woman I like doesn't replace me attractive." I once again found myself feeling embarrassed for him.
After he left, I lay in bed unable to sleep. I couldn't help but replay everything that happened. He was only acting this way because he had a good figure and a perfect face.
Sometimes I wondered-if Nicholas weren't so good-looking, I probably wouldn't have fallen for him the moment I saw him. So much of what had followed might never have happened.
People were visual creatures, and I was no exception. I got drawn to beautiful things just like anyone else.
But beauty alone wasn't everything. At the very least, it wasn't enough to make me overlook everything that had happened between us and decide to spend the rest of my life with him solely because of his looks.
At 6:00 a.m., I was all ready. When I opened the door, I found Nicholas sitting on the couch downstairs, looking at
me.
I went downstairs and sat opposite him, eating breakfast. Neither of us said a word.
His intense gaze made it hard for me to eat. Who could eat in peace when someone was staring at them like that, especially with such a cold expression?
I tried my best to ignore him, focusing on my food.
"Can't you tell that I'm angry?" Nicholas' face remained calm, but his emotions had already been swirling inside. He spoke first as he was unable to tolerate it any longer.
"Oh? What's wrong?" I asked, swallowing my food.
There was no trace of a smile on his face. His voice was as cold as ice. "Where's my trending topic?"
I feigned ignorance, swallowing the food in my mouth before looking up at him. "What trending topic? Which one?" Nicholas pulled out his phone, tapped it a couple of times, and pushed the screen toward me.
I glanced at the screen and saw that the post I had seen yesterday had been screenshot and saved by him. That was seriously creepy for him to screenshot his own trending topic.
I hadn't planned on doing anything about it since it didn't mention my name directly. But someone had tagged me, and I didn't want too much attention on whatever was going on between Nicholas and me.
If it were something to celebrate, I'd gladly share, but what was my relationship with him now? Probably nothing!
Nicholas knocked on the table. "Speak."
"I had it removed," I said flatly.
