Twisting Her Fate -
Chapter 132
Connor strips down, shoving his clothes in his bag, it is not possible to wipe the smile off his face. The large black SUV roars to life as Connor shifts. He finally feels like he is getting somewhere, he just knows that he is on the home straight now, that he is getting close to her, the wind whips through his silver fur as he breathes deeply, taking in all that nature has to offer. The excitement starts to build inside him as the SUV gets on the motorway and he is able to really stretch out his weary bones. This has been the hardest two weeks of his life. If Levi and Terrance weren't his friends he would have just captured them and tortured them to tell him the location.
He still might have done it but he knows that they cannot tell him a word. Terrance has tried before, but nothing came out, it was like his mouth got itself twisted, like his tongue wouldn't move, there was nothing, all Connor could do was watch as Terrance garbled on his words, his eyes speaking but there was nothing else.
Connor watched his friend choke on silence.
It was hard to see but it still never stopped Connor asking the questions, even when he knew that he would never get a response.
From the motorway, the black SUV starts to winding up mountainous paths across bridges and Connor notices that they are heading back in the direction of home.
The scenery somehow getting more beautiful with each step. He feels like the air is becoming fresher and the warmth of the day wraps around him.
The problem with the black SUV is it blends in with all the other black SUVS on the road, so Connor has to keep a bit closer eye on this one.
The car turns off a road making its way onto a dirt trail and Connor's heart is in his throat as he slows down with it. Making sure to not give himself away in this last bit of the journey.
The air pressure seems to change the powerful aura around this place.
Connor can feel that they are getting close to a pack border. Something tells him that this is it. This is where she is.
A border poses a problem. Connor speeds up his pace as he moves closer to the car. He passes over the border at the exact same time that the car does, as quickly as he can and as close to the car as he can get, without being caught.
If he is lucky enough, the power of Terence and Levi crossing will have covered up his own crossing enough that the Alpha should not be able to feel.
As the car does not suddenly brake, there are no howls and no thundering footsteps come towards him. He can only assume that he was successful.
The trees and plants seem so much greener here like he is running through a fairy-tale forest. Or maybe it can only be beauty leading towards his own beauty. His Leilani.
On the top of a large grass hill sits a large three-story white homestead-style pack house.
The white weather boards are freshly painted, the roof is lined in fresh dark gray corrugated iron. The trees and plants around look freshly manicured.
The front door is painted a familiar steel gray colour. Connor knows it. She is here. This is the place. This is the place she has been hiding.
2 years after separation
Connor kisses Evie on the forehead before he jumps out of the ring.
Damon is watching every movement of the two and he is shocked when Connor actually exits. Even though he has heard the words, it is hard to believe that he is going to battle Evie. It is hard to believe that the mighty Alpha Storm would allow such things. Of course, he has trained female warriors and even trained a little bit with Madison, but actually going into a battle. It is not a joke. They are there to hurt each other. They are here to win. "Madison, I'm not sure if I can do this"
Madison finally drags her hate-filled eyes off Evie to look up at Damon, who looks genuinely nervous.
"Why Damon, is it because you still have feelings for her? Just remember you are my mate, she is nothing to you anymore"
Madison's jealousy surges, there were so many times within the relationship where she felt like she was being compared to Evie, knowing that she had failed to quash all residual feelings.
"That may be so, you may be my mate, but how am I meant to go into battle with her?"
Damon looks at Madison pleadingly.
"Can't you do it?"
Madison scoffs, looking at the woman in front of her. She has absolutely no chance of defeating her. She has stood behind the strength of Damon for this long. She isn't about to go into the first alpha battle herself.
"No I can't do it Damon, I thought you were meant to protect me from harm, isn't that what you always say? Why does that all change when you see her?"
"I can't hurt her. What if she gets seriously injured, what if she dies?"
Madison glares at Damon, throwing her hands up in the air as she whisper yells.
"Isn't that the point Damon, to hurt her? To kill her?"
"I don't want to do that"
"Remember what she did to you, take it as your revenge"
Damon looks over at Evie, who is shining brighter than the sun, before looking at Madison, marking Madison was his revenge on the woman he loved. Now it seems petty. Madison can still see that Damon is conflicted, but he has already been substituted in. As soon as she leaves the ring, it is his fight.
That is exactly what she does, she takes herself out of the situation, allowing Damon no way out. She wants Evie's death, she cannot allow her truth to be revealed. Evie was meant to die.
Connor doesn't wait as he announces.
"According to the rules of alpha challenge, this fight will determine the alpha of the Azure pack. This fight will be to concede or death, whichever comes first. Even if one party is to concede, the winning party will make the decision whether the losing party lives or dies. Do you both understand the terms and the possible outcome?"
Evie has a straight spine as she looks over at the man in front of her, the lime green tank top is putrid, the whole matching outfit is an eyesore.
"I understand"
Damon looks back at Madison, but he knows that she won't save him from this. Even if Evie hurt him in such a way, the last thing he wants to do is hurt her. Damon's voice is lacking the confidence that Evie's has but he repeats the words.
"I understand"
Connor runs through the spiel without pausing.
"As per alpha challenge rules, both parties are able to take either form as many times as they desire, no weapons to be used. The fight will be to death or concede as outlined earlier. Once started, the fight can not be paused. No one is to interfere in any way" Evie just nods her head and Damon follows.
"Fight"
Connor shouts from the sidelines. He can see that Damon is nervous. He has counted on Damon's feelings for Evie, hoping that it slows him down and that it allows Evie to get the upper hand almost straight away.
Evie doesn't have such reservations as she moves forward as soon as the word is yelled. She has been waiting for this moment for so long. She doesn't see the man that held her tight during the night. She doesn't see the man that kissed her so sweetly or told her all the things she wanted to hear. All she sees is a man in front of her that is stopping her from her achieving her goal. She sees the man that is mated to her enemy. Nothing more. Their past doesn't matter.
Evie's first hit smashes Damon hard. He didn't have time to react and was not expecting so much explosive force behind the hit. While Evie is obviously toned and fit looking, it is easy to hide the strength in a she wolf's thin frame. It is never as obvious as their male counter parts.
Evie punches him straight in the stomach, not taking a second to pause as she elbows him in the kidney as he doubles over. She knees him straight in the face, causing his nose to burst and sending him flying backwards as she lifts her legs and kicks him straight in the chin, making his backward motion all that more exaggerated.
Of course, Damon is no weakling. He can handle a hit and he trains incredibly hard. But he really gets to train against another Alpha. His father preferring to train alone and training with Madison is equivalent to training with the warriors of the pack. So Evie is actually at an advantage, having done intense training with someone as powerful as Connor for so long.

Her hits hurt. He recovers quickly but he is still shocked.
He can't just stand still and let her beat him, they will lose the Azure pack. Does a cheater like her really deserve the pack?
No, the answer is no, Evie has done so many bad things he cannot allow her to claim the pack.
She is undeserving.
Damon gulps as Evie comes at him once again, but this time he doesn't sit back and take the hits. Blood bursts forth as they start an epic battle of MMA. Neither side uses their wolf. For now, they don't even use teeth or claws, just satisfied beating each other. From the outside, it looks like a particularly vicious training session, only the two in the ring know they are giving it their all, proving their strength to each other. Madison stands outside the ring, anxiousness rolls through her, Evie cannot live.
The two in the ring are shocked as a venomous voice comes from the outskirts.
"Stop playing Damon, kill the b*tch"
Evie's fist connects with Damon's jaw and he looks deep into her eyes. They are the same as Madison's but so very different, they say that eyes are the window to the soul and that is exactly what this is. Evie has always been the same. He could read all her thoughts and all her emotions from those honey-colored orbs.
Damon is conflicted. As Evie watches, she knows he is about to shift and she cannot allow it.
Connor's calm voice comes from the edge.
"Do it Evie"
She nods as she swings her body around, getting behind Damon quickly, hitting him with all her strength on an exact spot on his shoulder, rendering his whole body immobile as she kicks him straight in the back, sending him sprawling onto the mat, motionless. His eyes are open and are able to follow her movements but there is nothing else.
Connor was able to teach Evie things that he picked up along the way of being a reining alpha without his wolf, the things he used to combat his lack of size and strength.
Damon closes his eyes expecting death, waiting for it.
But Evie doesn't pause, she is so quick that she is out of the ring and by Madison's side. In the blink of an eye, she has grabbed Madison before Damon's frozen form has even had a chance to bounce off the mat.
The two women may look similar, but there is a massive strength difference between the two.
Evie drags Madison into the ring, so the two are on an elevated platform in front of the pack. Madison looks at her mate, who is nothing more than useless just looking up at her.
Evie's claws dig into the skin of Madison's throat, drawing tiny spots of blood at the location of each claw. Madison tries to struggle but she is stuck in Evie's vice grip, each movement just causing further damage to her throat.
"Now we can't really have an alpha battle without getting the alpha of the pack in question involved can we?"
Evie isn't waiting for replies, she can see all the scathing looks from the people that were meant to be her pack mates. She knows that she is not liked here, she knows she is doing something outside the scope of an alpha battle, she knows that a lot of the people present are itching to defend their alpha or for the golden dawn pack members present, their Luna.
The only thing that is keeping them all in place is Alpha Storm. While he looks relaxed, his aura is enough to suppress everyone, they know he is here to support Evie and that one wrong move against her then they will have to deal with him. "Today I am not only here to battle, I am here to set some things straight"
