Twisting Her Fate
Chapter 133

Connor skirts around the trees as a big black SUV parks next to the other three big black SUVs that are already parked in front of the house. There is state of the art training facilities on par with what he has at the stormy pack.

Connor moves further around and sees some raised vegetable gardens that are beautiful in construction, but the products inside are a haphazard mess, half are dying and the other half out of control. For some reason, it brings a smile to Connor's face. For some reason, he knows that it is the work of Leilani and it brings him some comfort that there is something that she can't do.

As he moves around further he can feel her aura. His heart jumps into his throat, making it impossible to swallow or even breathe as the rapid heartbeat pounds through his oesophagus.

He slowly shifts, careful not to make a single sound, pulling on his clothes and running a hand through his hair. He is suddenly incredibly nervous. He has been out in the wilderness with little to no supplies. He has no idea how he looks. What if she's right there? What if he gets a chance to meet her looking like an absolute mess. It would be slightly poetic as that is how she left him a mess this whole time. He usually looks perfect on the outside, but maybe the mess that he is conveying now reflects the inside out. He sees a clothesline out in a sunny spot. The strands of nylon spread between a pole near the house and a large tree within the forest. The damp clothes flutter slowly in the wind.

Then Connor sees exactly what he wants to see, what he has been dying to see. Out from behind a large navy blue fitted sheet emerges a stunning beauty. Long white blonde hair flutters slightly in the breeze as it is hangs loosely around her shoulders, a large black hooded sweater covers her body with bright blue leggings covering her slender legs.

Suddenly, Connor is at a loss about what to do. She is too beautiful, she is too perfect. He edges around the treeline more, getting as close to her as he can get without exposing himself.

Leilani stretches her back before she resumes hanging out the washing. Connor hears a muffled sound coming from within the house.

Leilani looks straight toward the back door.

"I will be there in a minute babe"

Connor falls to his knees, his whole world shattering with just a few simple words. He watches her walk inside the house without pause. It feels like it is three years ago when he was watching her walk out of his life.

Only this time it is so much worse, at least back then. He knew that she had him in her heart, now he occupies no such place. His place has been taken by another. Connor closes his eyes as anguish spreads throughout his whole system.

He knew this was a possibility, but he didn't want to believe it. How could he still love her so much when she has already moved on?

His future ends right now.

**2 years of separation**

Madison struggles more in Evie's arms, fear washing over her. She doesn't want the pack to know. She doesn't want Damon to know.

She is not sure how much truth Evie knows, but with the snide tone of her voice and the way she is holding Madison hostage like this, Madison can only assume that she knows everything.

Madison extends her claws and tries to swipe at Evie, but there is little she can do.

Madison's body ripples. Connor looks directly at her, shouting from the sidelines. "Do not shift"

Even though they are both alphas of a pack, they are unequal and Madison's wolf has to obey. Evie might be able to suppress her like that. She is more powerful. It is just the problem that being Alpha of the pack allows Madison to tap into that power as well. So a command from Connor is going to be a lot more effective than one from Evie.

Madison stops her movement as there is nothing she can do. She cannot bring herself to disobey Connor's direct order.

Evie is unaffected by the episode as she looks at her sister's side face, pressing her chest hard against the woman that all she wanted from her with some sisterly love. She tried to form that bond and instead she was given away in such a way.

"Isn't that right sister? Isn't it time to get some things off your chest? Isn't it time to come clean?"

"There is nothing to say"

Madison's tone is lacking the confidence that it should have.

"I want to tell you all a little story, a story of what has happened to me since I left the pack that fateful day. I'm not sure what you've heard, but I'm here to set the record straight as well as take back the Azure pack"

No one makes a noise in protest and everyone is listening intently. Damon's eyes focused on the woman. He doesn't even cast his eyes at his marked mate who is in mortal danger. There is nothing he can do to prevent it anyway. He can't even move his little finger, let alone free Madison from Evie's grip.

"Some of you may know me, some of you may not. I lived a blessed life. I knew where my life was going, I already had everything planned out until a few days before my eighteenth birthday. I had a loving boyfriend..."

Evie looks at Damon with a slight curl of her lips, showing her mockery of the situation. Damon doesn't even dare to look in her eyes.

"I had loving parents and I had a twin sister. While my relationship with my sister was far from smooth, I still loved her and I assumed that she loved me. Of course, I had no issues at all meeting her at a coffee shop. When she said that she wanted to talk, I went to meet her there..."

Evie sighs and her claws dig into Madison's throat further.

"I never guessed it was a setup, even in the four years I was locked up underground with unspeakable things done to me. I blamed my own bad luck, I blamed my own fate for my situation. I never once thought it would be my sister. It wasn't until I was rescued and saw the photos. I am not sure who has seen the photos. I am not sure who believed them straight away without taking a single moment to notice that the one that showed you those photos has the exact same face as me. The photos were never even photoshopped, but they were never me. It was always her"

"That is a lie"

Evie doesn't acknowledge Madison's words.

"So when she sent me a location and told me that she was stuck there and she was scared, I raced there without a worry in the world. Never did I expect that what was waiting for me wasn't my sister, instead it was a masked man and a syringe full of serum that would keep me in a wolfless vulnerable state for the next four years where a man would try and recreate what he saw in photos that I never knew existed"

"It..."

Evie suddenly throws Madison away from her body with a twisting motion so that Madison is facing her. Evie throws a punch to the centre of Madison's beautiful face, the force messing up the perfection.

"Don't you dare look me in the eyes and deny it. You have cost me four years of my life in captivity, countless more trying to learn how to live with the experience. You have cost our parents their lives. They died not knowing my fate. They died not knowing how much of a vicious snake you are. You have cost countless resources. All for what? What the f*ck did I ever do to you?"

Evie has thought long and hard over the last two years of what she possibly could have done to inspire such hatred. She has come up with nothing. Madison knows all her lies are unraveling in front of her, it is easy to check the information, the truth can be easily verified. Her pretense falls away, there is no point pretending anymore, once the mask has been pierced it is hard to patch it back up.

They want to see the vicious Madison? Then that is what they will get.

Madison glares at Evie with the hate burning as hot as one thousand suns as she spits.

"You were you, so perfect, the apple of our parents eyes, the perfect student, with your perfect boyfriend who worshiped the ground you walked on, the perfect little future mapped out for you"
