Under the Veil I Rule
Chapter 125

In the cozy living room, Liliana pulled Finnian down onto the couch, wrapping her arms around his. With a playfully sweet tone, she said, "After that fall into the water, the doctor advised me to stay in bed and rest. But I felt okay, so I insisted on going back to the film set.

But filming is really exhausting, and I'm worried it might be too much. I can handle being tired, but I'm concerned about our baby," she added, guiding Finnian's hand to her still-flat belly, inviting him to feel their unborn child.

Finnian, a man of few words on a good day, seemed even more distant than usual. He had been quiet all day, and since they entered the house, his handsome features had remained cool and distracted, his thought inscrutable.

Liliana, recalling the events of the day, watched him closely. "Finn, why aren't you saying anything?"

Without warning, Finnian withdrew his hand, stood up, and announced, "I have something to do. Gotta go. You should get some rest."

As he turned and left without a hint of hesitation, Liliana was taken aback. Something was definitely off with Finnian today. Though his demeanor was subtle, Liliana could sense the change.

What's going on? Did it have something to do with what happened earlier? She frowned deeply.

Reaching his car outside, Finnian didn't drive off immediately. He rolled down the window, resting his elbow on the frame, eyes closed, replaying the image of Keith with Amara in his mind.

After a while, he opened his eyes, his fingers dancing on his phone. He called Dorian.

"Elysia's number?" Dorian asked, surprised by Finnian's question, then reading out the digits. "Do you need something from her?"

"Yeah, I have questions to ask," Finnian responded, ready to end the call when Dorian added, "Elysia's driving right now, it might not be convenient. She's heading over to my place, so if you need to talk, you can come over."

"Alright, I'm on my way," Finnian replied, then hung up and drove to Dorian's house.

Finnian and Elysia arrived almost simultaneously, with Elysia getting there about five minutes earlier. Settled in the sofa, she was arranging some flowers she'd brought into a vase when Finnian walked in.

Elysia glanced up briefly as Finnian entered, and then continued with her task, her demeanor cool and uninterested.

After changing his shoes, Finnian settled across from Elysia as he asked, "I need

to ask you something. Did Amara ever have a boyfriend before?"

Elysia lifted her head. "Why do you want to know?"

A few days ago, Elysia and Dorian had a massive falling out, leading her to drown her sorrows at a bar. Amara had joined her, and they both harassed by a bunch of punks, only to be rescued by Finnian in the end.

Though she and Dorian had since patched things up, Elysia felt that she could handle Dorian's nonsense herself. Her best friend shouldn't have to suffer from the man's indifference.

So, when it came to Finnian, who had disregarded her friend, Elysia maintained her icy demeanor.

"No reason, just curious," Finnian replied.

Elysia placed the last flower in the vase before responding, "Nothing I can say."

She got up to head for the living room, but Finnian blocked her path.

"In the three years Amara and I have been married, has there been someone else?" he inquired, his voice frigid.
