Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 129
Dorian knew that going through something like this was tough for any guy. He patted Finnian on the shoulder and said, "Don't dwell on it, man. Just have a drink. By tomorrow, it'll all seem better."
Finnian nodded, took the glass, and sipped his drink.
The next day, Amara used the veggies from last night's takeout to whip up a couple of dishes. She packed up half and took it over to Keith's place before heading back to enjoy her meal.
With work being slow today, she leisurely finished her breakfast and spent the morning on reading. At lunchtime, she ate the leftover breakfast and then tidied up before heading to the shooting set.
She unlocked the door to her break room, stepped in, and as soon as the door clicked shut, she felt a strong arm wrap around her waist.
Startled, she yelped, and in an instant, she was spun around and pinned against the cold wall. Amara lifted her gaze and found herself staring into the stormy eyes of Finnian. Shocked, she blurted out, "What are you doing?"
Then it hit her that something was off. She demanded, "How did you get in here?"
She always locked the room when she left. It was locked when she came in, so how on earth did Finnian just appear here?
Finnian pulled a familiar key from his pocket and gave it a little jingle without saying a word. Amara's eyes widened in surprise as she stared at the key. She asked, "How did you get a key to my."
Halfway through her question, she stopped. Of course, Finnian was an investor in the production. Getting a spare key would be a piece of cake for him.
Amara asked, her tone hardened, "Mr. Everly, if you needed to see me, you could have just asked. What's the meaning of this?"
.n
He had barged into her space and scared the daylights out of her by pinning her against the wall as soon as she entered. If their social standings hadn't been worlds apart, Amara might have given him a piece of her mind right there.
"What's going on between you and Keith?"
Though Finnian was questioning her, his voice remained calm.
"Is he your lover?" he asked, enunciating each word clearly.
Amara was speechless, her temple throbbing with disgruntlement. She almost denied it, but then she remembered Liliana.
Finnian had Liliana, and they even had a child together. Despite being married, he allowed Liliana to call him her husband in public.
Even if she did have a lover, Finnian's actions were far more outrageous than
hers. What right did he have to question her?
The Amara from before might have swallowed her pride and explained her relationship with Keith to
Finnian, But now, while she knewet
better than to openly defy Finnian and might as well back down at the heated moment, she was done biting her tongue.
"Mr. Everly, haven't you moved on with someone else? And according to you, our marriage is just a transaction. Why do you even care about this? If you're going to harp on this and interrogate me, it's hard not
to see you as hypocritical."
"Yes, I am being hypocritical," Finnian replied without missing a beat as he heard what Amara said.
His expression was steely, and his eyes revealed nothing of what he was feeling. But a man like him had no reason to lie, she supposed.
Amara's eyes widened, her mouth agape, unsure of how to respond.
