Under the Veil I Rule
Chapter 138

He didn't just trust his own eyes; he'd got faith in Liliana's recording too, Amara thought bitterly.

She turned her back. "Well, if you don't believe me, I can't force you. Either way, I didn't do it. Thanks for getting me out of there. I'll be on my way now."

She had been a bit worried about how she'd escape from that situation, but now that Finnian had gotten her out, she could leave directly.

"Mrs. Everly, please wait a moment. Mr. Kevin Everly wants to see you."

Lisa appeared seemingly out of nowhere, blocking Amara's path with a respectful demeanor.

Kevin wanted to see her? Amara wasn't sure what he needed from her-maybe to question her or something else. But she had a soft spot for Kevin, so she followed Lisa upstairs.

"You need me, Mr. Everly?" she asked, keeping her head low as she entered the study.

She thought of calling him by name, but remembering how Kevin no longer saw her as someone close, she decided against it. No need to delude herself.

Kevin, ever the perceptive one, noticed the change in Amara's demeanor right away. He felt a pang of sadness and gently took Amara's hand. "Ama, why such formalities?"

Amara's eyes instantly became red-rimmed. She grasped Kevin's hand back, her voice heavy with emotion as she responded, "Kevin, I really wasn't being unfaithful. Here's what actually happened, that day on set..."

Amara gave him a brief rundown of the events. As Kevin listened, he went from shock to anger, finally slamming his hand down on the desk.

"How could something like this happen? It's outrageous! It's all that pair of hellions' fault!"

By "hellions", he obviously meant Finnian and Liliana. Kevin's use of such strong words showed just how furious he was.

"Kevin, the incident has passed, and I can let it go. But I can't stand being wrongfully accused," Amara said.

"Alright, alright, don't be upset. I'll replace a way to clear your name."

Mr. Kevin Everly comforted Amara, promising to get to the bottom of things before letting her leave. True to his word, he gathered the family, declaring that Amara hadn't been unfaithful and that the rumors were unfounded.

But word had already spread about Keith holding Amara on set, and with Liliana's recording in play, nobody believed Kevin, which irritated Kevin.

Amara returned home, trying to shake off the unpleasantness and got a good night's sleep. The next

morning, she packed her things and headed back to the shooting set.

She barely had a moment to settle in the break room when an unwelcome visitor

showed up-it was Hogan, who had publicly insulted her the day before.

Not wanting to create a scene in front of the whole crew, Amara held her

composure and let Hogan into the room. "What do you want?" she asked, gazing

at him.

"Listen up Amara. Our family's

money has nothing to do with you to

begin with. After what you did to

betray my brother, you're not getting a single cent of his assets!" Hogan snapped.

"I suggest you drop any claim to the divorce settlement, or you're in for a rough time!"

Hogan's threats didn't faze Amara. She smirked callously, replying, "Did Liliana put you up to this?"

She saw through it all now-Hogan was just Liliana's lackey. He'd probably jump through hoops for her, no questions asked.

"Doesn't matter who sent me. The fact is, you cheated on him, and as the guilty party in the marriage, you should give up any claim to our family's assets."
