Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 145
As Finnian brooded over the past three years of marriage, when Amara had been seeing someone else behind his back, and now, with divorce on the horizon, she'd probably run straight into that guy's arms, a dark thought crept into his mind. He couldn't let her have her way so easily.
Finnian admitted to himself that he was being quite nasty. After all, he had Liliana. So, technically speaking, Amara having Keith shouldn't be a big deal.
But he couldn't shake off the feeling that while his affair with Liliana was accidental, Amara and Keith seemed planned. Had she been cheating on him from the start? The mere thought added the frustration and humiliation to his heart.
The idea that she might have been in another man's arms night after night, and she was about to finally be with that guy gnawed at him.
He couldn't fathom why he'd become such a petty person. He just couldn't bear it, even if he'd long stopped caring about being her husband in anything but name, or about who she'd be with.
So, when he set out that morning to finalize the divorce, he stopped in his tracks after a few steps, thought for a moment, and decided against it.
Finnian returned to his office, loosened his tie, and recalled Amara's wide-eyed, silently fuming expression from earlier. Somehow, it lightened his mood. He booted up his computer and dove back into work.
Meanwhile, Amara stormed out of the Everly Group headquarters, her mind in a whirlwind of anger as she was seated in her car.
What kind of man was Finnian, really? Amara discovered she had some misunderstanding about his character. She'd always thought of him as fair and reasonable, not a bad guy.
But today, he revealed a side of himself that was anything but kind. He should have been eager to divorce her, so why wasn't he? Was it because of Keith? Did he really believe he'd been cuckolded? Only he could had an affair, and she couldn't, so he got upset, unwilling to set her free?
And then there was that incident a few days ago when Finnian barged into her office, pushing her against the walk He hadn't hurt her

physically, but his behavior was far from the gentlemanly demeanor he usually displayed.
Looked like Finnian was really a bad guy; Amara didn't get a chance to know him well due to their less time of getting in touch back then.
Amara, still fuming, returned home. Barely had she sunk into the sofa when the doorbell rang. Peering through the peephole, she saw Elysia and then opened the door.
“Congratulations on your freedom, Ama! Happy single life!" Elysia exclaimed, bursting in with a bouquet of roses in one hand and a bottle of champagne in the other. She enveloped Amara in a warm hug.
Placing the flowers on the hallway table, Elysia slipped off her shoes while saying, "I brought booze. Let's celebrate! Are we cooking here or going out?"
Watching Elysia's cheerful
demeanor, Amara felt tears prick at her eyes. Suddenly, Elysia realized she'd misstepped. Amara still had feelings for Finnian. Divorce wasn't a cause for celebration; it was a heartbreak. What on earth was she doing?
