Under the Veil I Rule
Chapter 149

After hanging up the phone, Kevin sensed something was off. How did the conversation with Amara veer so wildly off course?

Amara, on the other hand, felt a wave of relief wash over her. She had managed to dodge another round of Kevin's persistent attempts to talk her out of getting a divorce.

She wasn't curious about how Kevin seemed to know the divorce hadn't gone through. Kevin had his ways and was always in the loop, but she hadn't expected him to be so relentless, refusing to give up even at this point.

Pondering for a moment, she thought about what she would do if this happened again.

Ever since that messy situation unfolded a few days ago, everyone in the crew was aware that Amara and Finnian were heading for a divorce. They didn't know when the cooling-off period would end, but Amara had a strange feeling that everyone knew they hadn't finalized it.

The way people looked at her when she arrived on set today was different, filled with curiosity or speculation. But that was just a hunch. What Amara was sure of was that Liliana knew they hadn't gotten divorced.

Liliana's eyes held a different kind of stare-dark and tinged with a hint of malice, like a snake lurking in the shadows, making Amara feel extremely uncomfortable.

Ignoring Liliana, Amara walked through the set into the break room and closed the door behind her.

"You two didn't finalize it yesterday?"

Her phone buzzed. Amara found a message from Keith.

She sent back a nod emoji and asked, [How did you know?]

[Elysia told me,] Keith replied. [I'm on my way to the set. I'll come replace you in a bit.]

Amara replied with a simple [Okay,] and set her phone down.

Keith showed up soon after, storming in with a face like thunder as he snarled, "That douche Finnian refuses to divorce you? Is he just stringing you along?"

"Yeah, that's pretty much it," Amara replied, helpless. "I've tried negotiating with him, but he says he'll decide when he feels like it."

"What a piece of work, how can he be so wicked?" Keith fumed, his face flushed with anger. "Don't worry, I'll handle this. I'm going to have a word with him, asking him to sort this out!"

He looked ready to charge out and confront Finnian, rolling up his sleeves as if preparing for a showdown.

Amara was startled, quickly grabbing his arm. "Don't be rash! Confronting him now won't solve anything!"

Finnian had made it clear he was going to be stubborn about this. Rushing in like this would only lead to another argument or fight, which wouldn't help at all.

Keith realized this too, stopping in his tracks but continuing to grumble about Finnian.

Meanwhile, in the president's office of the Everly Group, Finnian sat in a leather swivel chair with last quarter's financial report in front of him. He should have been able to finish reviewing it quickly, buthe couldn't focus on a single word.

Will observed Finnian's expression. Mr. Everly had his elbow on the desk, remaining motionless, having held that position for a couple of minutes.

After a moment of contemplation, Will cautiously approached. He ventured, Mr. Everly, I heard that Mrs. Everty is in talks with another director about a new screenplay. It seems they've nearly finalized things and are about to sign.

Mrs. Everly is truly remarkable—so young and already creating so many works.

She's bound to become a renowned screenwriter one day."
