Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 161
Moreover, Keith had been keeping an eye on Amara the whole time, ready to
shield her from prying eyes or lend a hand if she needed it. He leaned in closer, checking if she was comfortable or needed anything, his concern for her evident. What was going on here?
Amara, doing her best to ignore the curious stares, walked confidently over to Patrick and handed him the invite. "Hello, Mr. Cooper. I'm Amara, Larry's daughter. My father couldn't be here today due to health issues, so I'm here to wish you a happy birthday on his behalf. Here's a small gift from us. Please accept it."
As soon as she finished, Keith handed over another gift box with a grin, saying, "Hey, Mr. Cooper! Remember me? It's Keith. You used to carry me around when I was little. This is a gift from both Ama and me. Don't worry, it's two separate gifts. Please, accept them."
Patrick laughed heartily, teasing Keith about his chatty nature, and motioned for his staff to take the gifts, warmly inviting them inside.
As Patrick welcomed them, he couldn't help but wonder what was going on. Was Amara representing the Sullivan family? But why was she with Keith? What was happening here?
Amara, holding onto Keith's arm, entered the room, passing by Finnian and Liliana.
She noticed two sets of eyes on her: one cold and scrutinizing, the other puzzled. Goosebumps rose on her skin, but she maintained her calm demeanor as she and Keith entered the banquet hall.
"Ms. Sullivan, how come you're here with Keith?"
Amara hadn't planned on facing off with Liliana so soon, but here they were. Liliana, with Finnian in tow, approached Amara and Keith, a smirk on her lips as she spoke.
Turning her head, Amara replied coolly, "Who I come with is my business, Ms. Porter. Do you have a problem with that?"
Liliana's smile widened.
"Ms. Sullivan, freedom has its limits. You have a husband in name, yet here you are with another man at such a formal event. Do you think that's appropriate?"
"You're aware he's my husband, so why are you clinging to him? Trying to steal him away?" Amara shot back without hesitation.
Liliana faltered, unable to respond. Amara's tongue had certainly become sharper. What was with her? Had she experienced something drastic recently?
Nearby, Finnian's gaze was fixed on Amara. Since she and Keith had entered the hall, he hadn't taken his eyes off her, his expression dark and brooding. His presence was so
intense that no one darey, and
approach him.
"Yeah, Ama's right," Keith chimed in. "Liliana, if you really think Finnian is Ama's husband, maybe you should let go of him. You're hanging onto him while accusing Ama. Doing bad things while trying to get good reputation, huh? Of course, whether you let go or not doesn't really matter. Ama isn't interested in him anymore."
With those words, Finnian's mood grew even darker.
Sensing the tension, Amara was afraid of things going awry. "I'm hungry. Let's get something to eat," she suggested, tugging at Keith.
"Sure."
The Cooper family was hosting a buffet-style event, with long tables laden with an impressive variety of dishes. As they approached the spread) Keith asked, "What do you feel like eating? How about some fish sticks?" He knew they were Amara's favorite.
