Under the Veil I Rule
Chapter 173

So, all she really had to do was explain that she and Keith had never been together, and she'd be free.

Once that thought clicked, Amara stopped in her tracks and hailed a cab straight to the Everly Group headquarters.

As she arrived at the entrance to the president's office, she noticed Lisa and Will standing by the door. Curious, she approached them and asked, "Lisa, what brings you here? Is Kevin inside?"

Lisa and Will exchanged glances, their expressions slightly uncomfortable.

Amara peeked toward the office door, hearing faint sounds of an argument. Lisa

and Will looked even more uneasy.

"Are they fighting?" Amara asked.

"I'll go in and check," she said.

She had a hunch that Kevin was confronting Finnian because of her, so she figured it was best to step in.

Lisa and Will seemed relieved and quickly stepped aside, urging, "Please, go in and talk some sense into them. They've been at it for ages."

Amara nodded at them, knocked three times on the door, and called out, "Kevin, Mr. Finnian Everly, I'm coming in."

Taking a deep breath, she pushed the door open and entered.

Inside, Kevin was leaning on his cane, standing by the couch with a flushed face, clearly fuming.

Finnian stood opposite him, looking equally grim. They were definitely in the middle of a heated argument.

"Ama, you're here!"

Kevin's demeanor shifted immediately upon seeing Amara. He hurried over with his cane, gripping her hand as he lamented, "Ama, this scoundrel Finnian dared to do that to you. It's infuriating! I'm here today to set him straight for your

Yesterday, Patrick had witnessed the two of them kissing and later heard Finnian explain their so-called marriage. Patrick had called Kevin as soon as he got home.

The two older gentlemen, who were about the same age, had a lengthy chat for over an hour. After hanging up, Kevin was delighted, thinking that Finian finally had feelings for Amara, given the kiss and the public acknowledgment of their

resationship.

So, early this morning, he had marched into Finnian's office to get to the bottom of

it.

What he didn't expect was Finnian's foul attitude.

Finnian's stance toward Amara hadn't changed at all. His actions seemed to be nothing more than a means to toy with her, which infuriated Kevin.

Hence, the shouting match.

"Kevin, please don't be upset. It's all in the past now," Amara tried to soothe him.

The incident wasn't really in the past for her, but she knew she had to calm Kevin down with those words of comfort.

“No, this isn't something you just move past!" Kevin shouted. "That's scoundreldom, and I have no idea how he ended up this way! It's disgraceful!"

"Listen here, I won't allow you to divorce!" He turned sharply, pointing his cane at Finnian as he stated, "You must be accountable for your actions!"

Finnian's eyes flashed with a hint of sarcasm at those words, which only fueled Kevin's anger.

"Ama never cheated on you, she's

been devoted to you from the start! I

didn't want you two to divorce in the

first place, and now that you've done something bad to her, I'm even more against it!"

Finnian's face remained stony, but Amara's eyes widened in surprise.

Kevin had never wanted them to divorce?
