Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 192
Kevin didn't put up any resistance. He and Finnian had already discussed the divorce, and everything was going smoothly. What was there to worry about?
After coming to terms with this, Amara lightly patted her cheeks, reminding herself that a new chapter was about to begin. No more brooding over the past. She closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Two days later, bright and early, Amara created a group chat, adding Elysia and Keith. She broke the news about her impending divorce that day.
Elysia and Keith were thrilled. Naturally, as their conversation went on, they both started badmouthing Finnian. Amara chuckled when she saw this, humming a little tune as she went to freshen up.
Elysia and Keith went on passionately trash-talking Finnian for about ten minutes before Elysia sent Keith a private message, "Ama's about to be single again. When are you planning to make a move?"
"I'm thinking tonight," Keith replied, taking Elysia by surprise.
"I want to go over to her place today, set things up, and then confess. What do you think?"
"No, no, that's way too soon! Ama just got divorced from Finnian. She needs some time to adjust. You should comfort her first, help her through this."
"How can she not be over it? Amara's long forgotten about that jerk Finnian. There's nothing to adjust to."
Ever since Keith realized his feelings for Amara, he couldn't stand hearing about her affection for Finnian.
Elysia sent a few eye-roll emojis. "I know Finnian's a jerk, but don't kid yourself, okay?
Ama had feelings for him for so many years. You think they'll just vanish instantly?"
Keith knew Elysia was right, but he didn't want to admit it. He sent a few frustrated emojis and fell silent.
Amara decided to skip heading to the shooting set today. She spent the morning at home working on her script, and around one in the afternoon, she was ready to head to the city hall.
Before leaving, she made sure to text Finnian, confirming their meeting for the divorce.
Finnian assured her there was no problem, so it seemed this was really happening. Amara felt a mix of emotions-mostly relief with a touch of something complex.
She arrived at the place, parked her car under the shade of a tree, and unbuckled her seatbelt. She watched the people coming and going through the entrance.
By 2 pm, Finnian hadn't shown up. Was he late again? That didn't seem like Amara was about to call
hi her phone screen it up
with a call from Will.
Her heart lurched violently, a sense of foreboding washing over her.
She took a deep breath and answered, "What's up?"
"Mrs. Everly, something's up!"
Will's voice was urgent.
"Mr. Everly's been in a car crash."
Amara's eyes widened.
Her fingers gripped the steering wheel tightly. She asked, "What exactly happened? Tell me slowly.
Never mind, just send me the hospital address."
Twenty minutes later, Amara was at the hospital.
She took the elevator up and, rounding the corridor, saw the red light above the emergency room and Will and Liliana pacing anxiously in
front of the doors.
Ignoring Liliana, she hurried over to Will and inquired, "What happened to him? Is
he in surgery?"
Amara didn't notice the slight tremble in her voice.
"Yes, Mrs. Everly, but try not to worry."
Will had regained some composure as he continued, “This afternoon, Mr. Everly went out driving alone, and
just
he got on the road, he was hit
Other car."
"What kind of car?"
"It was a sedan. The driver was drunk and veered off course. He's been taken
away by the police, and Mr. Everly's being treated inside."
