Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 56
The photo captured a dimly lit passageway, where a couple wearing masks strolled side by side, carrying grocery bags towards the door.
The masked woman was unmistakably Amara, her head tilted as she chatted with the man beside her, eyes sparkling with laughter.
The man, tall and wearing a black baseball cap and mask, was unidentifiable to Finnian. All he could see was how close the man was to Amara. In addition to the groceries he carried, the man also had a bag slung over his shoulder.
Finnian's long fingers tapped the screen, zooming in on the photo. He recognized the bag as the one Will had given to Amara earlier that morning.
At the moment, a strange feeling washed over Finnian. So, that bag wasn't supposed to be for him.
He slowly stood up, his brows furrowed deeply with repressed emotion. Gazing at the man's profile in the photo, he slapped his phone down on the table, trying to push away the jumble of thoughts.
It was 4:30 PM, not quite dinner time, and Finnian intended to keep working.
His marriage to Amara was merely a business arrangement; just like he had Liliana, Amara was free to be with someone else. It shouldn't matter who she spent time with. But why did just thinking about that photo make him feel uneasy?
Was his male pride getting in the way? Finnian rubbed his temples, unable to focus on the documents. Shutting down his computer, he grabbed his car keys and phone, and left the office.
Earlier that afternoon, right after wrapping up on set, Keith had insisted on joining Amara for a meal.
Seeing his exaggeratedly hungry expression, Amara had no choice but to take him grocery shopping before heading home.
Around 5 PM, after setting the table, Amara watched as Keith brought the freshly made dishes over, and she gestured for him to sit down as they began their meal.
"Hey, isn't Larry's birthday coming up soon?" Keith recalled something suddenly before asking, mid-chew on a slice of beef. "Are you going back this year?"
At the mention of that name, Amara's expression cooled. "I'll see how it goes."
Keith tousled her hair. "Go if you want to, don't if you don't. If Larry gives you any trouble, just call me. I'll come and straighten him out."
Amara burst into laughter, uttering, "Alright. With you having my back, I'm definitely not worried."
Keith was momentarily spellbound
by Amara's radiant smile. A few seconds later, he started coughing violently Amara quickly poured him a glass of water. "What happened to you? How do you manage to choke at your age?"
His face flushed, Keith took a couple of sips before recovering. Staring at Amara's beautiful face, he said, "You really are stunning. Ever thought about breaking into showbiz?"
"No, no, that's not for me."
Having worked with various film crews over the years, Amara knew firsthand how grueling acting could be, both on the surface and behind the scenes. She had no interest in that world.
Keith, recalling the chaotic nature of the entertainment industry, agreed that it wasn't the right path for her He addressed, "Stick with

scriptwriting then. You still look a lot like you did as a kid-just grown into it.
Amara had been disfigured at ten, but before that, she'd been a pretty little princess. Back then, Keith often
got into scrapes with older kids to protect her from being bullied.
