After a long day, Amara was exhausted. She planned to take a quick shower, so she squeezed out some body wash and quickly lathered it over her skin, intending to rinse it off without much fuss.

Suddenly, a hissing sound came from the corner of the shower.

Amara glanced over and saw a green snake, about as thick as her thumb, coiled up in the corner. Its triangular head was raised, flicking its tongue in her direction, and it started slithering towards her.

Amara had always been terrified of snakes and other creepy crawlies. This sight nearly made her sour scatter.

Her heart almost leaped out of her chest as she let out a scream loud enough to shake the house and bolted for the door.

Meanwhile, hearing the commotion, Finnian leaped out of bed and dashed to the bathroom door, pounding on it urgently. "Amara, are you okay? Open the door!"

Amara, seeing the tall silhouette through the frosted glass, quickly fumbled to put on her clothes. But the snake, nearly three feet long, was almost at her feet. Behind her was the menacing snake, and in front of her was Finnian, who was about to see her in a state of undress.

Caught in a panic, she backed into the corner, hitting the sharp edge of the wall. She cried out again.

Finnian, now truly worried, didn't hesitate. He kicked the door open, feeling the rush of steam hit him, and rushed inside without a second thought.

In the misty haze, he bumped into Amara. Her heart nearly stopped, not from fear of the snake, but because of Finnian and where he had accidentally touched her.

But Amara had no time to worry about that. As the steam began to clear with the open door, she realized Finnian's face would soon become visible, and consequently, so would she.

Quick-thinking, she covered Finnian's eyes with her hand, exclaiming, "Don't look!"

Her soft palm brushed against his eyelashes, tickling slightly. The sudden action disoriented Finnian further. He already struggled to see in the fog of the bathroom, and the feel of her warm palm on his face made him sway. He lost his Balance and they both tumbled into the empty bathtub with a thud.

Amara, now pinned underneath, felt her bones protest from the impact, and she cried out in pain, tears springing to her eyes.

Realizing the situation, Finnian immediately asked, "Did you hurt yourself? Are you okay?"

With Amara still blocking his vision,

he couldn't see the surroundings, only fumbling around unwittingly Ĉ until his hands met her waist, which seemed soft and tenderly smooth, and barely grasped if there wasn't any force to make.

Amara's face turned instantly aflame as she exclaimed, “Stop moving around!"

She covered Finnian's eyes with one hand, the other holding on his shoulder tightly, her fingers nearly digging into it, her voice shaky with tears.

Finnian's heart shivered violently.

The softness of her skin under his hand, the scent of her body, and her warm breath on his face were overwhelming. Everything about her was intoxicating.

Earlier, he had had a couple of beers with Larry, so his head was already a bit fuzzy. Now, the dizziness intensified.

Maybe it was the alcohol, but Finnian's actions were faster than his thoughts. He leaned forward slightly, pressing a gentle kiss to Amara's cheek.
