Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 71
Though Lucian and Amara weren't exactly friends in the entertainment world, he always held her in high regard.
"It's really no big deal," Amara said with a smile.
"My situation with Finnian isn't all that complicated. We got married for some reasons, and now we're parting ways. Everything's fine on my end, so there's no need for you to worry."
Lucian had come over to comfort Amara, but somehow it turned into Amara comforting Lucian.
Elysia once mentioned that Amara's personality often led to situations like this. She sometimes felt as exasperated with Amara as Keith did.
Lucian's expression turned serious. "Ama, I just don't want you to get hurt. If anyone messes with you, let me know. I'll stand up for you."
Amara's lips curled into a faint smile. "Alright, I'll remember to come to you."
Lucian soon took his leave, and just as Amara was about to grab some dinner, Keith showed up.
He walked in with two takeout meals, plopping them on the table as he casually seated himself and remarked, "These days are driving me nuts. I'm juggling two shows while appearing on a reality series, and another show is about to wrap up. Oh, by the way, how have you been lately?"
A few days ago, Amara had been at the center of online drama. Keith had called to check in on her, but with his own avalanche of work and the drama resolving quickly, he hadn't had the chance to visit her until now.
"I've been doing alright."
Amara took off her mask, scooped up a forkful of mashed potatoes, and spoke as she chewed.
"Things with Larry aren't going so well, though," she mumbled. "But I think he's losing interest in Elowen. Probably can't stand her antics anymore. I'll keep an eye on it."
Around Keith, she didn't bother with appearances, eating quickly and not noticing the bits of food on her face.
Keith frowned at her messiness, chided her a bit, and then reached over to flick the bits off her face into the trash.
"So, what's the deal with you and Lucian?" Keith asked casually. "I saw him leaving your break room earlier." "Oh, yeah, I was the one who discovered him."
Amara explained how she and Lucian met, and Keith relaxed after hearing the explanation. As he watched Amara eat, Keith's pace slowed until he eventually set his fork down altogether.
"What's up?" Amara asked casually, sensing something was off about him.
Keith suddenly lowered his head, muttering, "Nothing."
His heart thudded loudly, almost as if it wanted to leap out of his chest.
He had realized something peculiar recently he couldn't help but stare at Amara, whether she was wearing a mask or not. Was he developing feelings for her?
With a whirlwind of emotions, Keith wrapped up his afternoon shoot, returned home, and decided to tackle the unpacking he had neglected since moving in.
He opened a box filled with
childhood memories, intending to glance through it quickly. Suddenly, he remembered something and started rummaging through it.
BUMS
Within five minutes, he pulled out an old, yellowed drawing—a "Marriage Certificate" he had drawn as a child, featuring himself and Amara.
Gazing at the crayon-drawn stick figures and the wobbly "Marriage Certificate" text, Keith couldn't help but chuckle.
