Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 92
Amara sat quietly, giving the impression that she was minding her own business, but in reality, she was keeping a close eye on Finnian from the corner of her eye.
She noticed ever since that incident at the club, things between her and Finnian had shifted significantly.
In three years of marriage, they had only seen each other twice. Ironically, their relationship took a turn for the better once they decided to divorce.
Before, they hardly met and knew little about each other. But as they grew more familiar, they even shared some intimate moments, and it naturally brought them closer.
However, despite their relationship improving, after the club incident, Finnian seemed to have had an epiphany, suddenly becoming distant once more.
Now, they were back to the state of their three-year marriage, where neither spoke to the other.
To be precise, during those three years, it was Amara who always reached out to Finnian-cooking for him, thinking about him constantly—while Finnian remained indifferent.
Now, with Finnian's cold demeanor and her own disillusionment, things had hit a dead end. Here they were, a married couple sitting silently together, attracting curious glances from others around them, either covertly or blatantly.
Finally, Finnian glanced at Amara. She wasn't sure why he looked at her; it was just a fleeting glance, though. Not long after, Finnian took another look at her, emotionless, leaving Amara puzzled about his intentions. “Hey Finnian, why aren't you talking to your wife?”
The gleeful voice belonged to Celeste, who was clearly enjoying herself.
"You've been sitting here for ten minutes without saying a word to her," Celeste chuckled, covering her mouth. "She might get upset, you know."
Though Celeste's voice wasn't loud, there were only about a dozen people at the table, so everyone heard her.
All eyes turned instantly towards Amara, and she felt a mix of embarrassment and irritation; luckily, her mask kept those emotions at bay.
Finnian shot Celeste a cold look. "What's your point?"
Finnian could be intimidating when angry, and Celeste immediately straightened up, replying, "Nothing, I was just asking. I just thought it might make her sad if you ignore her"
"Being able to see sadness on someone wearing a mask? That's impressive."
Amara's voice cut through, cold and clear, interrupting Celeste.
Amara then glanced at Celeste. "Or maybe you didn't see any emotion at all and just imagined it. So, Celeste,
which is it? Are you that perceptive, or are you just talking nonsense?"
Initially, Amara was furious at Celeste's taunt. But she quickly calmed herself, reminding herself not to get angry.
She was leaving the Everly family soon anyway; she didn't need to protect their dignity or maintain good relations. She could speak her mind freely. So she did.
Celeste's expression turned sour. Over the past three years, she had taken countless jabs at Amara, who had always remained silent, encouraging Celeste to go further each time.

But today, whether Finnian was present or not, Amara had shot back directly, her tone sharp and assertive, like a completely different person. What had changed?
