Brianna held up her employee ID badge. "I've just completed my onboarding. We're going to be colleagues from now on."
"Oh." Tiffany peered at the badge. "That's... pretty awful."
Brianna gaped at her.
Almost as if she were afraid that Brianna wouldn't understand her, Tiffany explained, "What I meant was that it was bad enough being your friend and dormmate. I thought I could be free of you after graduation, yet here we are, colleagues. You just won't leave me alone, huh?"
If not for the straight face Tiffany maintained as she spoke, Brianna would have thought that she was hearing things.
Tiffany had always been a wimp-she'd never dared to speak up, no matter how others had bullied her. Yet now, she had become so sharp-tongued.
For a moment, Brianna didn't know what to say. Tiffany had changed so much that she was gobsmacked.
Tiffany left when she saw that Brianna didn't have anything to say.
Vincent was having a video conference in his office. When he saw Tiffany return, he raised a hand. She approached him. "Mr. Lewis." "Make me a coffee, please. Thanks."
"Yes, sir." Tiffany went to his personal pantry. She poured some coffee beans into the grinder and started it, then waited for it to be done.
She was still upset from her encounter with Brianna in the restroom.
She didn't like being sharp with others she and Teresa had been on the receiving end of too many insults and harsh words, so she knew how horrible it felt. Earlier, she'd truly lost control of herself. It seemed that she still couldn't help feeling but be resentful toward Brianna.
Vincent's video conference was over. He leaned back in his chair, making it seem like he was resting from where Tiffany stood.
She had yet to spend a full day in his presence, but she could already see how busy he was. He had various matters to attend to and meetings to participate in. Tiffany had always known he was busy, but only now did she see just how busy he was.
She added two cubes of sugar to the saucer before taking the coffee to him.
"Here's your coffee, Mr. Lewis." Tiffany placed the coffee on the desk. Vincent turned around in his
seat; she was taken aback when she saw him fiddling with a bracelet.

It was the pearl one she'd left in his tent during the camping trip. He'd even shown it to her and asked whether she knew who it belonged to.
She thought he would've already thrown it away, yet it was still with him.
Before she'd joined Lewis Group, the bracelet had broken once, and it had taken several days for her to fix it. Later, she'd stopped wearing it because she was afraid it would break again.
So, she'd kept it in her pocket when she'd joined Lewis Group. Since it was out of sight, no one in the company knew of its existence.
But now that Brianna was here... There was a chance she would expose Tiffany if she saw it.
"Tiffany?" Vincent called.
Tiffany returned to her senses and met his gaze. He asked, "A penny for your thoughts?"
She shook her head. "It's nothing."
Secretly, she told herself she had to Dack when Vincent
get the
attention. As she
thought about this, Alex entered the office.
"The meeting's about to start, Mr. Lewis. Do you want to head over there now?"
"Yeah." Vincent took a few more sips of his coffee before putting the cup down. He pulled open a drawer and placed the bracelet inside.
Tiffany noticed this. She would wait until he was gone before taking the bracelet. No one would even know...
As soon as this thought formed in her mind, she heard Alex say, "Grab something to take notes, Tiffany. You're coming with us." She was taken aback. "Me?"
"Yeah." Alex nodded. "You have to follow Mr. Lewis to every meeting he attends from now on."
Tiffany looked at the drawer. "Can I... not go?"
