Chapter 0359
Two days later, Evelyn indeed received a call from Lucy. However, it wasn’t to ask for money.
“…What did you just say?”
Lucy replied, “Take me and my son to that hotel where you and the other wealthy ladies had your gathering last time for afternoon tea. What’s the problem?”
Evelyn resisted the urge to smash her phone. She clenched her teeth as she responded, stressing each word, “That hotel is members–only!”
“So?”
“Non–members can’t enter!”
“Then just get me a membership, won’t you?”
Evelyn felt like her teeth were about to crack from grinding it so hard.
Get her a membership? As if it were that simple!
One needed to accumulate personal spending of over two million to become a lifetime member. And Lucy? Who did she think she was?
“I don’t care. I want to have afternoon tea there today, so you better figure it out!”
In the end, Evelyn used her membership status to bring Lucy and Franklin into the hotel.
By coincidence, she bumped into a group of familiar ladies having a gathering there. With Lucy and Franklin in tow, they ran right into them!
“Mrs. Johnson? It’s really you!”
“We were calling you just now, but you didn’t respond. We thought we’d mistaken you for someone else.”
Evelyn forced a smile, though inwardly, she felt so embarrassed she wanted to dig a hole and hide in it.
“Were you calling me? Sorry, I didn’t hear…”
“And who might these two be?” One of the ladies asked, her gaze falling on Lucy and Franklin. “They look a bit familiar. Where have I seen them before?”
The metaphorical sword hanging over Evelyn’s head finally fell.
Lucy was grinning as she said, “Oh, it was here last time too. I got a bit loud and had a bit of a disagreement with Mrs. Johnson. You might have been present then?”
With those words, the other ladies‘ seemed to have remembered.
immediately, they turned to Evelyn with eyes full of surprise, suspicion, and a certain kind of subtle scrutiny. Their gazes were loaded with unspoken meanings.
“Did you two… settle things? Made peace?” One of the ladies asked.
Before Evelyn could respond, Lucy Jumped in. “Yes, we’ve settled everything! We made peace ages ago! You know what they say, it’s better to resolve feuds than to escalate them…”

Lucy thought she’d answered quite well, demure, even. Yet little did she know, Evelyn just wanted to sew that big, stupid mouth of hers shut!
What did she mean by settled? The question itself was a trap! By answering it, she was admitting there was a dispute between them.
Did she even know what kind of dispute? It wouldn’t take long for people to connect the dots back to Hansel, making them believe even more that he had indeed gotten Lucy’s daughter pregnant.
Previously, all the gossip circulating their social circle had been just that–gossip. If Evelyn had stayed silent, it would’ve died down eventually.
But now, this idiot Lucy had blurted out everything, confirming it all!
“Oh, I see…” The lady who didn’t particularly get along with Evelyn grinned even wider upon hearing this.
“Well then, we won’t disturb your family reunion. Come on, everyone, let’s go.”
The group left, happily carrying their juicy bit of gossip with them.
Evelyn stood there, her face dark as a thundercloud.
“Family reunion, my foot! As if I’d ever be related to this woman!” she thought.
Oblivious to all this, Lucy continued glancing around. “Wow, these lights are so bright… Are those vases at the entrance antiques? How much would they sell for?”
Evelyn was speechless. She really wanted to smack her across the face!
After watching this pair devour their afternoon tea, Evelyn thought she could finally escape.
But then, Lucy said, “Isn’t that a mall across the street? Let’s go shopping!”
Evelyn replied, “You go ahead. I’ve got things to do…”
“Go? What do you mean go? Who’s going to pay if you leave?”
Evelyn was stunned.
