Lance had brought dinner to Kailee and Grum and it was now late evening. The sun had retreated from the sky, and they had a couple candles lit in the room for light. The flames danced on their prison of wick and slowly drips of wax rolled down the candle sticks. Finally, the door to the room opened, revealing Trey who walked in slowly. Grum lifted his eyes to him and then immediately retreated from the room.

Kailee could see how worn his eyes looked and she imagined his face dropped just as much. He looked tired.

“Do you want the light on longer? Or is it okay to talk in the dark?” Trey asked quietly.

“You can blow out the candles. I don’t mind.” Kailee watched as the two lights vanished from the room, leaving it to darkness. She wondered if once she was fully awakened if she would also be able to see better in the dark. She listened to the familiar clank of his mask hitting the desk and the slight dip on the mattress as he lowered himself next to her on the bed. His warm arms gently reached around her body and he eased her into his side.

“How are you feeling?” Trey’s baritone voice asked gently.

“Still sore but other than that I am fine.” Kailee answered and leaned her head into his chest. His sweet scent had her body completely relaxing as she indulged in his comfort. She listened to him sigh and she waited for whatever it was he was going to tell her. She was bracing herself for bad news.

“We have come to an agreement.” He leaned down to rest his chin on her head. He breathed in lightly and smelled her hair. He hoped she would understand. He listened to the soft sounds of her steady breathing and the even rhythm of her heartbeat. He could tell at this moment she was just listening intently. He took in a breath and rubbed his fingertips over her arm.

“They won’t force me to marry someone else as long as I agree to let Jane stay here with us for now. But the agreement is conditional. The moment she messes up she has to leave. So, if she k****s another man or looks at me in public she must leave. I can’t have her jeopardizing everything. Baby I promise this doesn’t mean anything. I am completely yours. And I will mark you just as soon as you are well. There is no one else. This is just to appease them, so they understand I am serious.” Trey stopped and quietly waited for Kailee’s response.

Kailee did a sharp intake of breath. “So, what you are telling me is that this Jane knows what you look like without your mask on?” She could feel the muscles in his arm tighten as she asked the question.

“Yes, she does. If it’ll make you feel better, I’ll light a candle and let you know my face too.”

Kailee shook her head. “No, but isn’t it dangerous having her here because of that?”

Trey nodded his head. “That is why she is confined to the compounds of the estate. The only time she will be leaving is she will be going to Ivanclaw’s party with us…” Trey paused for a second. “I can show you my face Kailee.”

Kailee giggled. “Nice try. You are just trying to keep me confined too, right? That is okay. I’d much rather wander around freely than see your face. Besides, Reggie said you are not much to look at, so I am not missing anything.” She felt the soft vibrations on her back from where he was laughing.

“It was worth a try… Thank you for understanding. Just so you know Reggie is going to put Jane’s dedication to the test.”

“So, he is going to act how he normally acts?” Kailee giggled. “This doesn’t bother me. We are only going to have a problem if she touches you. I’m afraid I can’t promise her safety after that. And hey it wouldn’t be my fault. I am still learning to control my powers. If I accidentally catch her on fire or make her combust it would obviously be an accident.” Kailee smirked as the warm arms wrapped around her tighter.

“I love you Kailee.” Trey brushed his lips over her neck and sucked on her tender spot. “I won’t touch anyone else but you, and I won’t allow anyone else to touch me.”

“Mmmm you better not or else you will also be on the receiving end of my wrath.” Kailee leaned into his warm mouth welcoming the tingling his lips brought her.

Trey growled lowly and nipped at her neck. “You are so tempting. You have no idea how hard it is to control myself right now. As soon as your body is better, I am going to show you exactly who you belong to. Every inch of your body.”

“Mmm… then I can do the same to you.” Kailee said and a wry smile rose on her lips as she listened to his low g***n.

“How am I going to simply hold you when you say things like that.” Trey was almost whining as he let out an exasperated sigh.

“Where is she staying?” Kailee asked as she thought about their new guest.

Trey smiled. “We are conveniently locating her room next to Reggie’s room.”

“Is she wanting this too?” Kailee felt her body reacting to what she just asked. It was different if she was being forced to participate just like Trey. But if she was here on her own free will and was pursuing Trey this could be a potential problem.

“She has been groomed for this her whole life. In her reality I was always hers. The idea that I already have a wife has caused quite the upset. Honestly, she was quite upset, and she can’t understand. But I think that was just her initial reaction. I’ve met her several times before and she was always a sweet girl.” Trey said trying to reassure Kailee.

She scoffed and tilted her head to the side. She couldn’t see Trey, but she knew he could see her face. “My uncle can seem sweet too when he wants something. However, he is anything but that.”

“I know Kailee. I’m not saying to trust her. I’m just hoping out loud is all.” Trey pressed his lips onto Kailee’s shoulder and then up to the side of her head. He shifted her body downwards into a laying position and then scooted his body into her side.

“I’m sorry I don’t know what I am Trey. What if I am some sort of creature that you shouldn’t be with.” Kailee rested her head on his chest and trailed her fingers over his buttons on his shirt.

“I don’t care what they think. I don’t care what anyone thinks. It doesn’t matter to me what you are. Please don’t worry about that anymore. I promise you it doesn’t matter to me.”

“Do you think the gnomes are right? Do you think I am stronger than you guys?” Kailee sighed as she felt his lips brushing against her forehead again.

“I replace it very surprising to be honest. I guess it isn’t impossible though. And I hope you are really strong. Though you don’t need to have any strength. You don’t need to be strong or magical, I will be your sword and shield. I will also be your comfort…” He let his lips trail down to her jawline as he took in small whiffs of her intoxicating scent.

“Trey.”

“Mmm?” He continued nipping at her soft skin and tasting her as he flicked his tongue over her.

“I’m going to have to go to the forest realm soon.” She felt his movements suddenly stop. His hot breath beat upon her neck, and she could sense his agitation. “I know you don’t want me going. But maybe you can take me? Wouldn’t that be better than them taking me? And this way I can replace out about myself.”

“You’re right. If it is important to you Kailee, then I will accompany you there. We will hear what they have to say.”

“Thank you, Trey.”

“I swear if they try to keep you though it will be their own downfall at that point.” Trey growled and buried his head in her neck. “Get some rest love. And dream of me.”

Kailee giggled. “I was thinking about dreaming about another man though.” She felt his fingers grip onto her possessively and she giggled. “Okay, but you have to dream of me too then.”

“No, not a good idea. If I dream about you, I’m going to react in my sleep. It is better I don’t dream.”

Kailee pulled her head away from Trey and reached for his face. She traced her fingers over his cheek and then to his lips. She then leaned forward and took his bottom l*p into her mouth. She slowly sucked on it before pecking it tenderly. “I love you Trey.” He leaned forward and kissed her nose before settling her body back into his side.

“I love you. My wife. My mate.”

The sun danced over Kailee’s closed eyelids. She squinted her eyes open and smiled seeing Trey resting next to her. He had his golden mask on and was laying on his side. His green eyes were watching her and she looked back into his green pools.

“Good morning.”

“Good morning, Kailee. How are you feeling today?” Trey watched as she slowly moved herself around.

“It is not bad at all. I can feel some minor soreness but nothing that would stop me from doing anything.” Kailee smiled and pushed herself into a sitting position.

Trey sighed. “One more day then.” He reached his hand out and smoothed it through Kailee’s caramel hair. “Tomorrow is the party. And that night I will mark you as mine, forever.”

“You can mark me tonight.” Kailee said sweetly.

“No, not if you are still a bit sore. I’ll give you one more day. One more excoriatingly painful day of wait. Then I’m going to devour you so prepare yourself for it.”

Kailee bit her l*p and blushed. “I’ll look forward to it.” She listened as he muttered some incoherent words under his breath as he stood up from the bed.

“I’ve got to get you out of this intimate setting.” He walked over and pulled Kailee to her feet. “Come on my love. Let’s get some breakfast. Something I am actually able to eat now.”

Kailee giggled. “I want a sweet bun again.”

“Lance has created a monster.” Trey chuckled as he helped her into her clothes. He greedily looked at her exposed flesh as he helped her into a new dress. He let his eyes trail over her and then wrapped his arm around her waist. “You are beautiful.”

“I’d say the same to you but according to Reggie your looks are something to be desired. So how about you smell beautiful.”

Trey tucked her playfully into his side as he opened the door to their room. “You love teasing me, don’t you?”

“I would never.” Kailee said lifting her one hand up to her chest acting appalled. She smiled up at him and listened to his sweet chuckle. There was a new closeness about them. Knowing they were each other’s mates, and accepting it seemed to have changed things, for both of them. It was like their connection was starting to merge together. It was more than an attraction. They were being intertwined and slowly linked together.

Trey playfully tickled her side and she squirmed to get away as she giggled uncontrollably. They turned the corner of the hallway and they both stopped. Kailee looked up at the girl with black raven hair and rich chocolate eyes. She lifted her head and smiled at the two of them.

“Hi, I’m Jane.”
