Wing Of Change
Chapter 16

**

After manoeuvring her way through heavy traffic and crazy a*s drivers who kept reminding her that, driving in Lagos was another part of life struggle she might never get used to.

She finally made it to her destination.

Aria was twenty five minutes late for the interview but that didnt stop her from forging ahead either as she quickly secured a spot for her vehicle in the parking lot and rushed in through the entrance while hoping for some sort of miracle to help see her through.

Aria took a quick stop at the reception when she noticed the receptionist seating behind the counter with her face all covered in heavy makeup.

The female receptionist has a piercing as she stared at Aria who stood in front her breathing like she has just being in the marathon.

“Good morning” Aria had greeted politely still catching her breath.

“Morning. How may I help you?”

“I’m here for the interview?”

Aria had answered more calming while putting up her best smile.

The receptionist whose name tag had read Shade, quickly rose a brow at her before looking at her leather wrist watch.

“I’m sorry but am afraid you are already late for the interview because they already commenced like a while ago”

Aria wasn’t surprised but she was hoping something could be done for her since she was already there. And besides_she was just twenty minutes late. The interview couldn’t have gone that far off.

“I know am late but is there no way I can just fall in line? Am certain other persons might be waiting or yet on arrival as well and besides, I don’t think the interview has gone very far by now if it was scheduled for 9am. So please help me” Aria had pleaded yet again.

Shade only rolled her eyes at Aria’s statement. “I’m sorry but 9am is the set time for the interview and protocol must be followed”

Even though her emphasis was on the fact that she was late, Aria was sure, she’d curve in if she kept pleading.

“Look Shade, am not in anyway saying your company’s protocol should not be followed either but getting here on time wasn’t easy for me and am not trying to justify it either but I just need a chance to get to the interviewer because I really need this job please”

Aria felt only a miracle could change her mind as Shade still had a blank expression and staring at her Polish nails unconcerned.

“Please” Aria had pleaded yet again.

“Okay fine!” Shade had answered with a deep sigh.

She turned towards her desktop computer and began to click on it before turning back to Aria. “Give me your name and Serial number. I need to check my list if your name is among the list of awaiting persons or not”

Aria quickly hand over her details and had to wait with hitched breath while she went through her list of name with kneaded brows.

After a while, she looked back at Aria with what looked like a half smile. “You are in luck no doubt. You are second to the last person so I guess you’re still in for the interview”

Aria couldn’t help but smile as though she had been told she won the lottery. It turns out she still has a chance after all despite everything.

“Do you have an ID? Because you’re going to be needing one”

“Yes sure, I do” She retrieved her ID from her purse and handed it to Shade.

She held the plastic ID between her manicured nails and inspected it carefully while glancing between Aria and the passport photograph that looked almost worn out on the front cover before returning it to her with a nod.

“Alright!_all you need now is your credentials and job invite and you are set to go in through that door by your right. So good luck!”

“Thank you so much. I have everything in my file”

File?

The moment those words left the tip of her tongue, it actually dawn on her that she was in position of one earlier and now doesn’t as she began to wonder where she had dropped it. Maybe inside her car?

Oh it better be inside the car. She thought silently in panic.

“I think I left it inside my car outside. Let me quickly go retrieve it”

Aria didn’t wait for a reply before hurrying out the exit.

She got to where her vehicle was parked while praying silently for it the file containing her credentials to be lying at the passenger’ seat because she was sure she had placed it there while driving.

Right?

She could feel the rush of anxiety causing through her veins with the frantic beating of her heart when she leaned over to grab the file but found it missing.

She searched the back seat and everywhere inside the car she believed to have placed it but found nothing.

The fact that she couldn’t replace the document wasn’t the scary part but the part where she could already picture all the scenario that was about to befall her without it.

As she kept leaning against her car, she began to wonder where she had left it. Maybe at home while trying to get away from that man earlier.

Frank!

Maybe she was just overreacting and be could be wrong and must have mistakenly left it in her living room before exiting the house that morning.

At least she hoped with all her heart for her thought to be the case and had actually left it at home.

Dear God!

Aria couldn’t help but bite down at her lower lips to keep herself from crying._why in the world is everything going the wrong way every time she tried to do something her way. Even no matter how carefully she had planned it.

Was it something she did wrong in her past life? Because at that point, she was beyond frustrated and mad at the situations surrounding her.

Allowing herself to cry at that point would also mean accepting defeat and she was not about to give up so easily without a fight. That would probably be her last resort.

Aria was either going to go in there and face being ordered to leave or just save herself the humiliation by leaving right at that minute while she still could.

A single teardrop rolled down her left cheek before she brushed it off with the tip of her finger. She didn’t want to ruin her makeup just yet.

This day was yet another day gone wrong!!

Meanwhile_Frank on the other hand was back at his office and reviewing some important documents even though his mind could occasionally wander off to Aria.

He wondered how things were going for her at the job interview without her papers but no matter how tempted he was to seek her out and hand them to her_he still couldn’t do it.

Giving them to her would also mean letting her go and he wasn’t about to do such thing without a good fight.

Frank still couldn’t understand his new found attachment to her and hell_it has caused him many sleepless night and it has nothing to do with the s*x they had either. He has slept with too many girls for that one to even matter.

So what was so special about Aria that he couldn’t seem to think for a couple of minutes without the thought of her crossing his mind.

Was it her stubbornness or her ability to make him chase after her like a teenage boy in love.

Damn!

It has got to be the heart making fun of him yet again but he was not about to allow any of it. At least not until he is sure of her feelings and doesn’t have to fall on his face yet again.
