Wing Of Change
Chapter 30

Aria was feeling too lazy and sleepy to get into the shower as soon as she stepped into her apartment. She has Henry to blame for making her eat so much and heavy.

Pulling her shoes off, she plopped down on the bed while lazily reaching down for her zipper before peeling the blouse off.

She reached for her face wipe and began dragging it across her face in an attempt to clean the little make up that was still lingering on her face.

She went into her bathroom to brush her teeth after changing into her pink silk nightie before dashing back out towards the living room to ensure her front door was securely locked from the inside.

Satisfied with her actions, she turned off the switch and wall socket before making for her room. She didn’t make it far before she heard a muffled voice outside her door.

Wondering if it was Henry, she switched on the light before walking back towards the door but without unlocking it as she called out to him again just to make sure it was indeed Henry.

“Henry? Is that you?”

She got no reply but heard what sounded like someone cussing under his breath as she couldn’t make out a single word.

“Henry?” She called again.

This time she heard what sounded like her name but in a slurping way. She quickly turned the door knob as the voice registered in her head.

Frank?

Staring at the man before her, she flinched back a little as he staggered towards her at the door step and causing her to back away until they were both standing in her living room with her door swaying back to its formal position.

“Hello there” waving at her with an extra cherry smile.

“Are you drunk?” She asked, raising a brow at his swaying demeanor.

“Me drunk? Nope..I just had a tiny winy bit of wine that’s all” He replied with a dramatic wave of his hands in the air.

Aria was too stunned to even say a word as she kept looking at him. He was dressed in a white long sleeve shirt that was folded into his elbow and half tucked into his black plain trouser pant with an equally black jacket even though his tie was hanging loosely around his neck.

He looked like a gorgeous mess

“You don’t look very happy to see me_are you still mad at me?” He asked, pouting at her.

Sighing in exhaustion, she had her arm crossing her chest.

“What do you want?”

“Rude..very rude miss Davis_that’s not how you speak with a guest. First you offer them a seat and then we talk about the details like we used to” he ended with a smile causing her to g***n out in annoyance.

“I’m not letting you seat until you tell me what you want” her face reflecting a weak glare

His face went through a series of emotions as he stared back at her. She couldn’t help but feel vulnerable under his gaze as her eyes held his for a split moment before darting towards the floor underneath them.

“I want you Aria and you can’t kick me out again because..” He paused and held up a finger.

“_because am not leaving” He walked passed her, making his way towards the cushion at the opposite end before seating on it.

Aria stood frozen to the ground at his comment as she slowly turned to looked back at his sprawl figure on the chair.

He sounded so sane at that point that she was tempted to believe every word he just said but couldn’t allow her heart to accept it.

Frank was obviously drunk and drunk people don’t make much sense. They say whatever comes to mind and wake up the next day acting like it was all a dream and she won’t be able to handle another heart ache as she had already made up her mind to kick him out at that point before he says more than she was willing to listen to.

She composed herself a bit before speaking up.

“You need to leave. Now!” Making sure to look at anywhere except at that handsome face of his.

He made no attempt to oblige her as she turned to glare at him more but found that his eyes were glued together as he seemed to be snoring peacefully on the chair.

What?…

“Are you even listening? You need to go home because you can’t stay here”

He made no move still causing her to move an inch closer before reaching out a hand to shake at his chest that seem to be rising and falling.

He must have fallen asleep.

She was forced to stop midway when both his hands suddenly reached out and grab hold of hers before pulling her into his chest and trapping her in between.

“What?…what are you doing. Let go of me right now” she seemed stunned and startled at the same time as she continued to struggle against him but failed miserably as his grip was too tight plus she was definitely no match.

“Just hold still Aria and I will let you move before you know it” he pleaded suddenly staring at her.

She couldn’t help but do as he has asked of her as she found herself getting trapped in those deep brown eyes of his_ the moment she made the mistake of staring into it.

“I have missed you so much miss Davis” he whispered causing her to shiver at the feel of his warm breath against her cheek.

“Oh..?” Her voice getting caught up in her throat.

“I don’t care if you have a boyfriend now because I can’t lose you” he continued; staring a hole into her before settling on her lips that was undeniably staring back at him too.

Her throat felt dry and crunchy the moment she realized he too was looking at her l*p. The thought of getting kissed again was burning through her mind and their current proximity level wasn’t helping either as she mindlessly stick out her tongue and wet her bottom l*p before realizing it was a really bad idea when she noticed the fierce desire burning in Frank’s eyes at her action.

Within a blink of an eye, his lips began to move hungrily against hers in a manner that had her head spinning and with her heart racing all over in several direction.

She kissed him back with the same passion and need_ like this moment was all she ever wanted and has lived for.

The taste of alcohol in his mouth with the mint flavor from her toothpaste mixed up in perfect unison just like their tongue. Tangling against each other in a bit to dominate.

She knew for a fact that she won’t have the strength to not k**s him back if he does it first. Aria was aware of her own weakness against the man lying beneath her. To think that a moment ago, she wanted nothing to do with him was an understatement.

At the moment she was clinging onto him like he was her last hope of survival in a sinking ship.

Her sinking ship…

When they finally pulled apart, he held her gaze as he kept smiling at her blushing cheeks.

“I wanted to tell you so many things when you left but couldn’t. You made it so difficult for me each time i try that I even got used to doing the wrong things just to get your attention”

He placed his hands against her cheeks caressing its softness under his thumb before guiding her to rest her head against his chest and she did without a struggle.

Every fight she had towards him dissolved the moment their lips made contact and she remembered why he was the only man who is capable of making her feel that way.

So helpless and weak.

Her heart beat and aches for him and there was no denying that but can she dare to believe all he has said without feeling like he’d wake up the next day and say it was a crappy joke.

Her thought whirl in circle as she continued to listen to the rapid beating of his heart hoping it would clear every cloud of doubt in her mind. Aria felt so comfortable and relaxed just lying against him on the cushion_ breathing him in like her favorite fragrance.

Was she dreaming?

“Will you believe me if I tell you what is in my heart?” His voice vibrated through her ear_ pulling her mind back to the present.

“Your heart?” Asked Aria with a curious smirk.

“My heart is saying a lot of things miss Davis”

“What things?” She asked feeling a bit nervous to hear what he has to say after a moment of silence. He gave no reply prompting her to look up at his face only to realized his eyes were closed again.

“Are you listening?”

Silence

She waited a few more minutes just watching as his chest continued to rise and fall.

Frank looked so peaceful but the bags under his eyes were visible enough. It’s looked like he hasn’t been getting enough sleep lately.

She felt too comfortable to want to get back on her feet as she continued to listen to the peaceful rhythm of his heart.

The world was suddenly a better place at that point in time.

She was lying in the arms of the man she loves.

What could possibly go wrong in that moment.
