Wing Of Change -
Chapter 9
Not once did she look back or bother to listen to whatever he has to say next as she kept rushing out with quick steps. All she could think about was getting as far away from him as possible.
Aria has been scarred for life!
Fifteen minutes down the road and outside the building, she was seen waving down a taxi to get her home. It was already 7:30am and the sun was yet to crawl out of its hiding place giving her a chance to get home before her nosy neighbours does.
Once she was seated at the back seat of the taxi, and even told the driver where she was going. She just leaned back against the side window not willing her mind to dwell on anything else.
The last thing she remembered was Lizzy begging her to stay a little longer with her at the bar last night and nothing else. It was as if a thick dark fog was hovering around in her head and clouding her memory from peeping through.
Her car must still be at the bar because it was nowhere in sight when she made it out of the house a while ago. It obvious they had driven in his car to his house last night.
She felt her phone vibrating inside her purse and remembered that she even had one as she quickly retrieved it. Her face flared up in anger the moment she noticed the name flashing on her screen.
Lizzy!
She quickly stashed it back into her purse and stared out the window into the moving scene before her. The trees and tall houses moving along, only reminded her of how fast everything had spun out of control in just a few hour of black out.
A person can never be too careful in this life now can they? This wasn’t how she imagined she would loose something she had guarded so preciously for over thirty years of her life.
Just one mistake, a very foolish mistake so to say has cost her everything.
Was this the feeling of being free and normal? Because all she could feel at that point in time was emptiness and regret._lot of regret and it was crawling down her cheeks as tears, adding to the heaviness in her chest.
Aria felt broken and furious at none other but herself. She left her guard down in a matter of day_now look what happened. She has lost something she would never get back.
That day was gonna live with her for the rest of her life. She could still hear her phone vibration over and over again as her mind wandered around aimlessly.
She already knew who could be calling and taking her call wasn’t even an option at that moment. She didn’t bother looking at the screen so she won’t be tempted to throw it out the moving vehicle.
Aria got back to her apartment and found her car parked outside their building and wondered how it got there.
Maybe Lizzy had driven it or had someone do it. Whoever did was the least of her worries as she paid the taximan and ran straight to her apartment and into her bathroom.
She stepped right under the shower still dressed in her outfit from earlier and began to scrub at random. Aria felt the need to wash and scrub every single memory away even though she couldn’t recall exactly how it went down. Nothing could stop her from cringing at the thought of doing it with that man.
She couldn’t help but scream and cry her eyes out as she sank down into the tiles floor with water trickling down her body and after a while, she began to shiver involuntarily.
This wasn’t how she had planned her life._definitely not part of the to-do list she had carefully planned out.
This was the worst day of her life.
She just couldn’t understand how she ended up in a room with that man and much less to go all the way with him without clawing his eyes out.
To even think that she was safe in the company of her best friend was the biggest joke of her life.
Haaah!
Where the hell was Lizzy in the mist of all that? Aria had thought bitterly to herself as she continued to grumble around in frustration, trying to remember at least something to maybe put her mind at ease.
Lizzy sure has a lot of explaining to do!
**
Aria walked back into the bedroom with just a single towel wrapped around her shaking figure. Her hair was still dripping wet as they cascade down to her shoulders and lower back.
Aria had cried so much in the bathroom that her head was literally pounding like a beating drum. And apart from the dreadful ache in her head, she was also feeling dehydrated and sick to her stomach.
The hangover from last night was finally kicking in full force!
Throwing on her pink pajamas pant with a black loose shirt, she walked into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water from the fridge to soothe the dryness in her throat before she was startled by hard fist banging against her front door.
Halting for a moment, she walked towards the door after replacing the bottle water with its cap. She paused after giving it a second thought and decided against it.
Turning around to walk back to the bedroom, she decided to grab her phone from the sofa before heading in.
Flipping through the screen of her phone, she found several messages from Lizzy and endless missed calls. Maybe Lizzy could be the one banging at her door.
If Lizzy was truly the one at the door then she better let her in and get it over with already. Composing herself a bit, she cracked her front door open only to replace Frank staring back at her with that expression on his face she couldn’t depict.
He was clothed in a blue polo shirt and that trouser pant from earlier. The only thing missing was the arrogant look he had going on when she left his house an hour ago.
She wondered what he could be doing at her door step and staring at her like that.
