Wing Of Change -
Chapter 92
Aria has no idea how long Henry has been gone but she knew he’d be back soon and had to move faster. She hurried back to the bathroom and searched for anything sharp but found only an old toothbrush stuck at the trash can and quickly retrieved it.
Breaking off the edge against the hard floor, she rushed over to the door and began to use the edge to pick the locks in hope it would come off.
She could feel the hard imprint of the locks pressure, pressing against her palm but she was far from giving up.
It was either now or never.
She was half drenched in sweat and her own tears by the time the lock finally came off. Her joy was short lived when she felt another wave of pain shot through her and making sure to draw a wail of agony from her lips.
The contraction was becoming more frequent than normal. She noticed the warm liquid trailing down her thighs and knew her water has broken.
The inevitable was about to happen and she knew it. She took a deep breath for a moment to numb the pain before she began to drag herself out the door. If her baby was bend on coming then it was wise to leave now that she could.
She needed to get out of there before he returns and replace her in that condition. She could call for help as soon as she makes it out and far from there.
Still biting down against her lower lips_she gathered the last bit of strength left and grab hold of the sheet from the bed and had it wrapped around her shoulders before making her way out the door.
Aria gasps in shock when her eyes settled around the décor in the living room. She could have guessed it earlier if only she was not too occupied with thought of breaking herself out.
It turns out Aria has been locked inside his bedroom all along and was just a stone throw away from her own apartment. She stumble across the living room in the dark in search of the light switch when she felt another surge of that familiar pain building up in her abdomen and grab hold of the cushion for support.
She waited for another five minutes to gain relief and was about to take another step towards the door when she noticed the door getting jerked from the outside and freezing her completely where she stood.
Seems Henry got back sooner than she thought he would. She crouch onto the floor behind the cushion in pain with tears swelling in her eyes while praying silently for the ground to open up and swallow her whole. It’d be better than getting locked up again.
She noticed a bottle of whisky lying behind the cushion and quickly reached for it. With her hands wrapped firmly around it and waiting, she continued to hide behind the cushion in the dark like a predator waiting for its prey.
She bite her tongue in panic the moment she heard him push the door open and turned on the light_followed by his heavy footsteps moving across the tiles floor towards where she was.
She peeped through the little space and back at him and it was indeed Henry with bags in both hands.
He pushed back the door with his left foot before proceeding towards the bedroom in search of Aria.
Aria dashed towards him the moment his back was turned at her with the intention of retrieving the set of keys from his pocket and hit him across the head as hard as she could and watched in horror as he collapsed to the floor with a loud g***n.
She quickly grabbed the bunch of keys from the floor and rushed towards the door and unlocked the door. She didn’t make it far before she collided with another figure outside his door way who seemed to be breaking in as well.
Two set of strong arms reached out and grab hold of her before she could land on the floor.
“Let me go” she cried out. Still trying to break free from the strangers grip.
“Shssssh Aria! Calm down. It’s me!” The voice had cooed at her ears causing her a great deal of instant relief the moment she realized who the voice had belonged to.
It can’t be! She thought as she began to blink her tears away before reaching out a hand to caress his face in the dark even though she couldn’t see him properly.
“Frank?How_how did you replace me?” She half cried before grabbing him with both hands.
He pulled her into his arms and held her closer as if he was afraid she might disappear again if he let go even for a second.
“I followed that bastard here. I just knew he will lead me to you” he uttered with a bit of relief while searching for her face in the dark hall way.
Her grip around his shoulder tightened the moment she felt another wave of contraction and cried out in pain.
“Are you okay?” He pulled back a little to look at her in alarm.
She only shook her head with great difficulty. “My water broke a while ago. The baby is coming”
“But you are not due until months from now. Is this supposed to be happening?”
“I can’t say for sure but it will be born prematurely” the last word barely escaping her mouth as tears trail down her cheeks.
His eyes only widen slightly before he was thrown into a state of panic at her statement and realized he has to get her to the hospital soon enough.
“Where is Henry?” Frank had asked looking behind them, towards where she had ran out from.
Aria only shook her head in tears. “I think I killed him”
“That’s good because if you hadn’t, I would have done it myself”
Frank doesn’t have to say it twice for her to know he was absolutely serious about killing Henry after all he has done.
