You Hit My Heart
Chapter 385

Luther was a little surprised to see Karl. In fact, he saw Joyce walkingout of the group's lobby and into the restaurant opposite the groupearlier, as if she had an appointment.

"It's ok.” Karl felt the tension of swords between them.

He sat down, "What I'm about to say also involves the R&S Group. itwouldn't hurt for Luther to hear it together."

Luther stared, adjusting his sitting posture, his expression turned from aleisurely attitude to seriousness in a moment. He knew Karl pretty wellnow. There must be some progress, and they did not want to disclosethat to the public just yet.

Since Karl didn't mind, Joyce reluctantly picked up the electronic menuagain and added a French baked lamb chop and three cups ofAmericano. After placing the order, she regretted that she hadsubconsciously ordered Luther's favorite dish for him.

Karl said to them in a gruff voice, "Do you still remember Lauren? When you came out of the detention center once you said something tome, suggesting that I look into Lauren's case in detail. Since there hasbeen no substantial progress regarding Stephanie's murder case, so Itemporarily focused my investigation on Lauren's case. I wanted to tryto see if I could replace a connection and open my mind a bit."

Joyce nodded solemnly. Indeed, when she was in the detention center, although Lauren was hostile to her and repeatedly made things difficultfor her, but she could feel from Lauren's anger and aggression thatperhaps it was not Lauren that night.

Before she was released from the detention center, she promisedLauren that she would replace the person who was really behindeverything.

"Yes, Karl, I have no proof, just a feeling alone that even if it wasindeed Lauren who drugged me, she was not capable of making such aseamless plan to hire someone else to molest me. It always felt like amismatch, something wasn't right. Thank you, for doing your best toinvestigate for me just for my personal guess.”

Karl acknowledged, "Your speculation is not unreasonable. At that time, because the Lauren case was not a serious case, I could not bepersonally involved in every case. So, it was just normal to me whenOfficer Longman was pulling the case out at that time. Right now,Officer Longman has been transferred to another city by someoneabove, and that's when I found the whole thing quite fishy."

Luther listened and narrowed his cold eyes, not expecting that theseemingly simple Lauren case would have a hidden scheme behind it.He vaguely felt that there must be some kind of connection behind allthe things against Joyce.

And replaceing that connection would be the key to solving all theproblems.

At that moment, the waiter brought the dish Joyce had ordered earlier."Hello, ma'am, misters, the French lamb chops are for..." The waiterasked enthusiastically.

"Mine." The corners of Luther's lips curled slightly, and his good-lookingsharp eyes glanced obliquely at Joyce.

Joyce felt his teasing gaze sweeping back and forth across her face, and she felt embarrassed, her cheeks instantly flushed.

The waiter then set the French lamb chops in front of Luther.

Asked again, "And smoked cod ..."

Before the words were out of his mouth, Luther pointed to Joyce, “Thisis what she loves to eat."

The waiter nodded gently, handed the cod to Joyce, and placed the lastplate in front of Karl. Then he respectfully retreated, "Please enjoy yourmeal!"

Karl's keen eyes crossed over them, and it was clear they cared foreach other.

He cleared his throat and said the point, "I checked all the surveillance, vehicles, and even extended the range to five kilometers from Joyce'saccident site. Finally I found one man particularly suspicious - Thomas!"
