Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl (Pearl and Richard) -
Chapter 1349
Chapter 1349
"What are you doing, Richard?" Luther asked in a calm voice, though there was a bit of edge in it.
Pearl felt awkward, like she was a woman caught cheating with Richard as her supposed
lover. Thinking of Richard in that way wasn't the worst thing, though. While she thought about this, Richard and Luther silently fought for her attention.
"I'm just hugging my wife. Is there a problem, Mister Luther?" Richard's tone sounded defiant as he pulled Pearl closer.
Realizing how uncomfortable the situation was, Pearl quickly stepped away and walked over to Darius. "Alright, we've found Darius. Let's head back. There's no need to stay here any longer."
She felt a strong urge to get away from Richard. His behavior was becoming too strange for her comfort.
However, Richard seemed unwilling to give up. Then, his eyes lit up. "How about this? Let me join you for dinner. I haven't eaten yet."
Luther couldn't help but roll his eyes at Richard's suggestion. "You have some nerve, Richard."
But Richard didn't care about Luther's reaction. He was only interested in what Pearl had to say.
Pearl didn't really want Richard to come along, but then Darius took her hand and smiled sweetly. "Mom, it could be fun to have more people. Can Uncle come too?"
Darius was indeed an obedient son. His words silently moved Richard.
Pearl looked skeptical. "Last month, you told me you don't like crowds, and now you want to join a big group? Darius, are you trying to avoid going to school?"
Darius froze, his face turning stiff. "Mom, let me explain. It's not that I don't want to go, but
Pearl lightly tapped his forehead. "No more excuses. If you keep this up, I'll put you in full- time kindergarten, and you'll have to sleep over with the other kids."
Darius fell silent, giving his father a look that meant he was on his own now.
Richard thought he was about to be rejected, but then Pearl relented. "Fine, you can come. We could use another person to help pay."
Pearl didn't actually need him to pay, but she felt sorry for him and decided to give him a chance.
Richard quickly agreed. "Great, it's been so long since we last met. I'd be happy to treat everyone."
While he was fine paying for his wife, paying for another man bothered him a bit. But he couldn't pass up this opportunity.
"Alright, let's go," Pearl said, feeling hungry after all the commotion. She gave Luther an apologetic look before turning to leave.
Having Richard join them for dinner didn't sit well with her, but she tried to hide her discomfort.
