Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl (Pearl and Richard) -
Chapter 1350
Chapter 1350
Luckily, Luther had a good temper, so he didn't say much. But his smile didn't quite reach his eyes. "Alright, let's go," he said in his usual gentle tone.
Pearl, who had known him for years, could tell he wasn't happy.
But then there was Richard with his annoyingly persistent gaze.
With everything settled, they all left the school together.
At the parking lot, a new problem popped up: whose car should they take?
Richard wasted no time and opened his car door, saying, "Darius and you can ride in my car. I've got snacks ready."
Pearl was greeted by snacks and a massive bouquet of her favorite bell flowers. She was momentarily taken aback, and the man behind her explained, "I got these flowers just for you."
Honestly, she did like them. Any woman would be happy to see such a massive bouquet of white bell flowers in front of her. However... when this man gave it to her, it stirred up some strange emotions.
Luther was visibly annoyed. He hadn't expected Richard to pull off such a move.
"What's wrong? Is it bad to give someone flowers?" Richard looked smug, as if he were showing off in front of his buddies.
But watching Richard's showy behavior, Pearl couldn't help but feel exasperated. What exactly did she see in this man before?
Luther snorted. "I could get any flowers with just a phone call."
"There's a difference between flowers that are thoughtfully prepared and ones ordered over the phone. Your way lacks sincerity," Richard retorted as he opened the passenger door." You can sit in the front and let this little boy sit in the back."
Darius pouted in dissatisfaction. "No, I want to sit with Mom."
Richard thought of having Darius sit in the back to cozy up with Pearl, but this kid insisted on sitting with her. Having a son sure complicated things.
Richard's expression soured, but since he was in the process of wooing Pearl, he didn't want to offend his ally. "Alright, you can sit with your mom in the back."
Luther raised an eyebrow. "You've always ridden in my car before. Why should you ride in his now?"
He wasn't willing to give in. With his car blocking the way, Richard's car couldn't leave.
The two men stared each other down, ready for a standoff.
Fed up with the two stubborn men, Pearl announced, "Alright, I'm not riding with either of you. I have my own car." She shook her car keys at them and took Darius's hand. "Come with me."
With that, Pearl led Darius to her car and drove away, leaving the two men staring silently after her.
