Bella:

Riley and Hazel left shortly after her request, so he could get a change of clothes, and they returned for the night.

We stayed up all night, eating junk and watching movies, so we all slept off in the living room since there were no parents. The next day, a loud bang on the front door, which caused Ryder to roll off the couch, landing on the ground with his back woke us up.

"Ouch!" he groaned as I opened my eyes to see him massaging his back on the ground.

"Sorry, but I told you we shouldn't share a bed," I said, then I stretched my hands as the twins' scent hit me. "They are here," I said to Ryder as I got to my feet, rushing to the door while Riley, Hazel, and Tyler, who had slept on duvets on the floor, tried to get up.

I opened the front door to the faces of Kai and Finn. Then I threw my hands around them, pulling them in for a hug as they both kissed my cheek.

"You guys are early," Ryder said, causing us to pull away. "Thanks for a broken back," he said as they exchanged handshakes and hugs.

Then we all made it into the house.

"A full house," Finn exclaimed as he and Kai went around to greet everyone.

"And no parents," Hazel said in a sleepy voice, raising her head slightly.

"Cool!" Kai exclaimed as he tossed himself onto a couch, causing Ryder's brows to become creased.

"Not cool, because I will take the blame!"

"Chill out, Dad." Finn placed a hand on Ryder's chest, causing everyone to chuckle.

We spent the entire day speaking about random stuff, playing games, and eating. The boys bonded with Riley, which made Hazel and me happy. The day was almost over, and nighttime was fast approaching.

"Living without parents is fun," Riley said, and Hazel nodded.

"Yeah, until you do not see them for eternity," she said, and the smile on his face faded at once. He reached out for her. "I'm fine, and it was only a joke," she chuckled, then she kissed his cheek.

He pulled her in on the couch, grabbing her waist, and in no time, they were eating each other's faces while the four of us stared at them.

"This would be a great time for you guys to get a room," I said, and then they pulled away with brief laughter. "Sorry," Hazel said, then she faced us as Riley leaned in, whispering something in her ear. "Good night," she said to us, getting to her feet, and Riley lifted her up.

The four of us sat there on a couch, staring into thin air.

"We cannot waste this day," Finn said, and we nodded as we thought of the best thing we could do.

"Where is Tyler?" Kai asked, causing Ryder's eyes to widen as we both looked at each other with fear crossing our hearts.

He had been put in our care, and we took our eyes off him. Ryder took out his phone, putting a call across to him, but he didn't pick up.

"He isn't picking up his phone," Ryder said as he got up from the couch.

Kai sighed aloud.

"It was never part of my plan to look for a fourteen-year-old this evening," he said, then I hit him lightly with my elbow before getting up.

"Let's split up and replace him. I'll check in his room," I said to Ryder, and he nodded.

I rushed up the stairs as the boys went around yelling Tyler's name. As I got to his room, I heard his voice, but he wasn't alone. I gave the door a light tap.

"It's Bella," I called out, then I placed my ear on it, hearing him running around.

"I'm coming!" he yelled, then he opened the door after a while, causing me to peep into the room to see nothing or

no one.

"I heard voices."

"I talk to myself sometimes," he said, and I raised a brow. "I am in the drama club, and that is part of my duty."

He looked uneasy, but there was no evidence of anyone around, so I shrugged, putting a call to Ryder.

"He is in his room," I said, then I turned around to leave when I heard someone sneeze aloud, causing me to grab the door before he could close it.

There I saw a girl with brown, curly hair sitting on the floor of his room, causing me to throw my waist. At that moment, Ryder and the others made it to his room.

hands around my

"What the?" Ryder asked as we saw the girl who stared at us.

"How the hell did she get past us?" the twins questioned, and we all glared at Tyler, who sighed deeply.

"Fine! This is my girlfriend, Emily," he said, and Emily waved at us with a smile on her face. "She is a shape-shifter, so I could sneak her in without you guys noticing," he said, and we all glanced at each other.

"Does Mum know about this?" Ryder asked, and Tyler shook his head.

"Please, you cannot tell them. They will not allow me to bring her over, especially if they know she is a shape-shifter,"

he said, and Ryder's face remained hardened. "I cannot have a girlfriend until I am sixteen."

Ryder's face softened at once, then Tyler made way for us to walk into his room. I walked up to Emily.

"So, what were you when I got here?"

"A box that sat there," she pointed at his carpet. "But the carpet was dusty, and I had to let it out," she said, and I shot her a warm smile.

There were more shape-shifters than we imagined.

"Well, he is safe, so we can get back to spending the perfect lazy evening," Finn said, then we all walked away.

Ryder pulled Tyler into the hallway.

"No adult stuff. It is cool to have a girlfriend at fourteen, but when you begin to..."

"We have never even kissed. I just like her because she is cool," he said, and Ryder held his gaze for a while.

"Good," he said, then we walked away.

He joined us shortly after Tyler returned to his room.

"Is it just me, or is there a pandemic of shape-shifters?" I asked as we made our way downstairs.

"I think people are secretly using them at the moment, just like our parents. But that is none of my business for now,"

Kai said...
