"It's a potion, silly. It will help mask the odor so no one will know you're in heat, but the effects of being in heat will remain, and you will desire your mates," she said. I opened my mouth to speak, but she pressed my lips together with her index and thumb. "I will not answer any questions about how I have it, and yes, I use it all the time. So put it on and say yes to everything the triplets ask."

You could have said yes, taken whatever, and left," Hazel said in a raised voice, making me feel worse than I already did.

Suddenly, Kai came after us.

"Bella! Bella!" he called out, but Hazel clinched my hand, preventing me from turning back.

"Do not look back, Bella, and if he catches up with us, then do as I said," she said, and I nodded.

"Bella," he called out one last time, grabbing my shoulder and turning me around.

"You forgot the juice, and I wanted to ask if you would..."

"Yes," I replied, grabbing the juice from him and walking away.

Then I rushed to school with Hazel, hoping to get to classes before any of the triplets found me. When I got to my locker, I picked out my books for the day, then shut the door, only to replace Finn and Ryder standing by my locker.

"Argh!" I screamed, and they gave a light chuckle, making me frown.

"We didn't mean to scare you, but we got you these," Finn said, handing over a box of chocolate and some flowers. "Okay? Thank you," I replied, raising a brow. Then I looked over their shoulders to see Hazel drawing her hand horizontally across her throat.

"We would like to know if you..."

"Yes, thank you," I replied, rushing off as fast as I could. "That was close!" I exclaimed when I got to Hazel, then we headed to class while I felt victorious for avoiding them.

The carnival approached faster than we anticipated, and on that day, I chose a miniskirt and a pink crop top. I was still in heat, but Hazel promised never to leave my sight, so that I wouldn't get stuck with the triplets.
