Chapter 42 –

Bonnie

I'm currently standing in the basement room of the cells surrounded by a bunch of scary wolves while one of the people who tried to kill me sits right in front of me and yet all I can think about is poor Tony. I can't even begin to imagine what he is feeling or thinking right now but I imagine huge amounts of hate and grief are on top of it all and yet, here he is helping Nick with my problems and he even took the time to check on me and held his anger back enough to be able to make a joke with Nick.

I never got to meet Opal but from the little I have heard she sounds like she was an incredible girl and already I know that Tony is pretty amazing and the thought of him losing her like he did breaks my heart. I know second-chance mates are somewhat rare but I hope he gets given one, one day. He never got to experience the bond, not really, and yet I can tell that he would be an incredible mate and father and I hope he gets to have all of that one day.

"As much as I am enjoying this fucked up family moment, can we get a shift on here and get me unchained so I can get going. I'm getting hungry and seriously fucking bored!" My brother's voice echoes through the room sending a shiver down my spine but I remain calm and I'm strangely surprised at how well I manage to keep any emotion off of my face.

Lexi lets out a little whine when Nick lets go of us and hands us back to Will while he walks towards my brother with Tony on one side of him and Shane on the other. Even in the midst of all of this bullshit, Nick has been nothing but attentive towards me and even with my brother in the same room it still makes me feel like I'm on cloud 9. It also messes with the part of me that still thinks we should leave but I push that aside and decide to deal with that later.

"Do you seriously think that you are going to get out of here?" My mate's Alpha tone comes out and it's strong and no-nonsense. "And sexy as hell!" Lexi purs. Now's not the time for her horn dog comments so I choose to ignore her and concentrate on what's going on in front of me. "You know it's true!" That girl needs to learn when to quit.

I take a step to my left so that I can look past my mate and can't help but smile at the look on my brother's face. He may try to mask it but he looks scared and it's a look I've never seen on his face before. He always seems so sure of himself and cocky that seeing him brought down a peg or six is different and all be it slightly fun to witness. I try not to be mean about others but he deserves it for all he's done to me, especially for trying to kill me.

Why wouldn't I be? I haven't done anything?" Is he kidding me? He hasn't done anything? Maybe he is crazy as well as evil.

My mate's Alpha tone bouncing off the walls brings me out of my head as I watch the scene in front of me unfold. "You haven't done anything? Are you fucking kidding me?" I look at my mate as he speaks somewhat calmly to my brother which throws me a little as I was expecting him to be furious but then I see the veins in his neck pulse as his jaw ticks and I realize that he's holding himself back. I'm not sure why but I can only assume that he has some plan in mind so I'm just going to stand back and watch it unfold. "No, I'm not. I haven't done anything to you or your pack to warrant death." His cocky attitude is back but I have a feeling it's only going to make things worse for him. "For a start, you were on my parklands without my permission as I had assumed that you had already left and gone home so that's one offense. Oh, and there was something else... what was that now?" Nick starts walking around my brother causing him to grow more anxious as he tries to keep his eyes on him at all times but unless he wants to snap his neck then it's pretty impossible. Nick may ask my brother the question but he looks at Tony as he speaks causing Tony to smile.

"I do believe he is responsible for historic and current abuse to our Luna and also the attempted murder of our Luna." The moment Tony calls me his Luna I feel my legs slightly buckle but thankfully Will holds me up as he whispers in my ear. "You're ok. I know hearing him calling you that is a shock but it's true and regardless of the current situation between my brother and you, we are still all here to protect you." His response both scares me and warms my heart all at the same time.

"Prove it!" My brother snaps pissed off with Tony's answer. He's scared and being backed into a corner and his go-to reaction is behaving like a dick and that's what he's doing now. "You can't punish me without proof of anything!" Boy or boy, is he making things worse for himself?

"As for the historic and current abuse, I have all the proof I need and as for the attempted murder I witnessed that among several of my men so Rowan you prick, you are fucked!" My brother huffs, actually huffs at an Alpha then groans when Ryan punches him so hard I swear his head spins. "Disrespect my Alpha again and you won't like what happens." His voice gets so angry that even I want to take a step back but I don't and of course, neither does my brother. That prick doesn't know when to back down and his next words prove just that.

"I don't know what you're talking about. When you turned up I was just having a nice conversation with my baby sister, nothing more, nothing less." Is he fucking kidding me! "You had your hands wrapped around her throat, you bastard!" Tony screams as he takes a step towards my brother who is trying to cower back but he can't move an inch since he's chained to the chair that he's sat on.

"It doesn't matter what you say, I know the truth and you will be punished for it. But you do have a choice here?" My mate tells him.

"And what's that?"

"You can decide just how painful your death will be because you will die for what you have done, that is a given. However, you can decide whether it's quick and painless or long and very very painful!" I watch as my brother's face pales and I already know that he will do whatever he can to take the easy way out. Of course, he will also try and get out of actually being killed but deep down he knows he's fucked so there's no way he won't take the easy route here.

"And what would I need to do?"

"It's quite simple really. You will tell us everything about your plans for your sister and why you did it, and you will also tell us everything you know about Lola and her plans, and I mean everything and I'll make your death easy and painless." "That's it?" My brother seems suspicious when he should be thanking the Moon Goddess for the offer of an easy way out.

"Yeah, that's it." My mate nods as he comes to stand in front of my brother once more. Just as I think my brother is about to do the right thing for once he goes and shows me just how much of a twat he really is.

You do realize you can't kill me without my Alpha's permission right? Well, you can but if you do it without his permission then you will just start a war with my pack!" He laughs like he's just cracked some secret code, like he's just got himself out of his death but really he has just made himself look an even bigger idiot which I didn't think was possible for him to do but clearly, I was wrong.

"That is true but don't you worry yourself about that. I've already got it covered." This time my brother looks shocked and so do I. What does he mean by that? As I think it so the main door to the cells echoes through the hallway as it opens and shuts soon followed by heavy footsteps and then the door to this room opens and I feel my jaw hit the floor. What the hell is he doing here? He smiles at me as he walks past me and comes to a stop next to my mate who turns to face him and gives him a friendly greeting while the men who came with him all stand back against the wall never taking their eyes off him.

"Hello, Alpha, Harold. Thank you for making the trip here today."
