Chapter 197:.

Two weeks later, Louise and Felix were discharged from the hospital. All the problems in their relationship had been resolved by then.

The incident was a blessing for the two, who were terrified to express their love for each other.

In November, the ‘Juventud Cantante’ contest lit up the whole city. People from all over the country flocked to Sousen to register for the event. Some eight thousand participants had signed up for the auditions.

Just as we left the supermarket, the promotional video for ‘Singing Youth’ was playing on the big screen.

I took the opportunity to insist to Derek, “You can sign up for the contest too.”

He shrugged and smiled at me, “I’d better leave the opportunity to the youngsters.”

I couldn’t help but laugh at his assertion. “And how old are you, Grandpa?”

He slung his arm over my shoulder and smiled. “The audition is on at the radio and television station. Do you want to see it?”

“May I?” I couldn’t contain my excitement.

“What do you think?” He narrowed his eyes and gave me a look. “I’m the biggest sponsor. You have to give me as many tickets as I want.”

On the day of the audition, I took Louise with me. So, Felix also joined us. Aaron had the day off, so he also joined us.

There was a long line outside the door of the radio and TV station, which was full of young and talented people.

Everyone had dressed up for the event, hoping to stand out from the crowd and make a lasting impression.

Louise and I watched the fun. We judged the participants, guessing who had potential to become a big star in the future.

We had been whispering happily among ourselves until a tall, beautiful girl broke away from the line and threw herself into Derek’s arms, hugging him tightly.

I was stunned watching a strange woman embrace my husband. Even though she was a young girl, it still looked strange. Louise looked at them and back at me with a questioning face.

Derek pulled away and smiled at the girl. “When did you come to Sousen?”

The girl still had her arms around his neck as she laughed merrily. She had a pleasant voice full of enthusiasm.

“Are you surprised? I told you I would give you a big surprise. I wanted to show myself to you suddenly and scare you, but I didn’t expect to see you here.”

My mind went back to the message sent by Sybil. I couldn’t help but wonder if this girl had sent the message to Derek.

Was her name Sybil too, or was she related to her?

I studied the girl’s face and felt that she looked a lot like Sybil.

“Hey, his wife is right here, don’t you think it’s inappropriate to hug someone else’s husband like that?” Louise had always been blunt.

The girl who sent the message – When she heard that, the smile on the girl’s face disappeared in an instant. She glanced over Derek’s shoulder and saw that he was watching her.

Derek slowly removed her hands from his neck, turned around and put an arm over my shoulder. “This is my wife, Eveline.”

My body seemed to visibly relax.

“This is Becky Nash,” she told me.

Since the girl had the same last name as Sybil, I had a vague idea who she was.

Becky’s eyes widened and her face flushed with embarrassment. However, she quickly changed her expression and flashed a sweet smile.

“Hello, Eveline.” I snapped out of my thoughts and examined her from head to toe.

She was tall, with a slender build. The white dress made her slender legs appear longer. She was a standard beauty with a sweet, innocent face.

“Hi!” I didn’t dare force a smile.

“You’re Becky?” asked Felix in surprise.

Becky gave Felix a glance, her eyes sparkling with slyness.

“Felix, don’t you recognize me, have I really changed that much?”

Felix nodded. “Yes. You’re much more beautiful now.”

Becky glanced at Aaron and waved, he smiled at her before tilting his head and giving me a concerned look. Our eyes met before he quickly looked away.

Suddenly, Becky stomped her foot like a child. “You, are you here to watch the competition? I’ll be nervous.”

Derek shrugged indifferently. “There’s nothing to be nervous about. Just forget we’re here and act right. Have faith in yourself.”

Becky gave him a look and nodded. “Yes, I’ll try my best.”

After she joined the queue, I let out a loud sigh that I didn’t realize I had been holding back all this time.

I regretted coming today. Becky would wave at us from time to time as she moved forward in the queue.

Once, when I turned my head, our gazes met. She didn’t smile, and I could sense hostility. However, in the blink of an eye, he flashed his trademark smile again.

For a moment, I thought I was imagining things. My heart was pounding since I saw her today. Although Derek didn’t treat her particularly well, I could tell he still adored Becky, probably for Sybil’s sake.
