TEGAN'S P.O.V

It was as if I was back in my dreams. I could see him. I could hear him. But could I touch him? Was he really there?

I reached my hands out, cusping his magnificent face within them. Not realizing how badly I missed his touch. It has to be real, I could feel him. Which meant this was not a dream. No, he was here. Either that or we were there. Whatever it was, I was glad because that meant we were together again. Even if we are together in death, at least we are together again.

"The kids." I spoke out in a whisper, unable to form any of the other words swirling in my mind.

"You take care of them, I've got this scum bag." Ezra said in a soft yet demanding tone.

At that moment, Elias jumped into my arms. His tiny face swirling with so many emotions. Surely not understanding completely what was happening, but enough to know it was bad.

"Mommy hurt." Tears began to fall down his chubby cheeks as he peered up at me.

"Mommy is safe. Because her big, strong boy saved her."

I wasn't sure if I would ever be more proud of him than I was right now. But I'm sure I'll say that again in the future because he always seems to amaze me. Who else could say that their two year old saved them? He was a hero in my book. The bravery he displayed took immense courage, courage most men don't possess themself. But for someone as young as him to stand up against someone much older and much more scary is beyond the definition of courageous.

"I fix?"

A smile came across my face at his selflessness. He was so pure, it hurts my heart that he had to witness such violence at his young age. Before I had the chance to reply, his hand covered the gaping wound on my thigh.

"I fix." He said again, but this time in more of a statement rather than a question.

Suddenly, I could feel a warm feeling beneath his palm. Targeting a specific area before the warmness spread across my entire body. It was a feeling like none I've ever felt before. It made me feel alive again, like he somehow hit my restart button. "Beda?" He asked while removing his hands.

"So much better baby, come here." I responded while pulling him into my tight embrace.

When his hands wrapped around my neck and moved from my leg, all that could be seen was torn jeans. There was no longer a gaping wound from the metal. How did he do that? When did he know that he could do that?

"LITTLE HELP IN HERE. I'VE GOT THE TOLERANCE OF A WEREWOLF BUT EVEN I AM GETTING TIRED." Lucy's voice screamed from inside the bus.

SHIT! NOVALEE!

"Elias, baby. Can you help auntie Novey?"

"I fix Novey."

I scooped my brave boy up in my arms as I rushed back to the bus.

"About damn time." Her voice came out breathless.

"I think they should add this to the warrior training. It'll damn sure help build muscle, because damn I'm tired."

"Can you do what you did to Momma's leg for auntie Novey?"

His eyes glanced to where Novalee's body lay still. "I fix my Novey."

I knew it was asking a lot from a two year old. And quite frankly everything that has happened may even be traumatizing for him. But he was our last resort to saving Novalee's life. I just hoped we weren't too late.

Lucy was performing CPR for nearly ten minutes. They say that after ten minutes you're unlikely to revive them safely. It could cause everlasting brain damage. So, I guess it's better to start Elias with his gifts young. Just in case of scenarios like these happening again, at least he will be ready. All I could do was hope that he could revive a non-beating heart too.

"What are you doing? We can't stop performing CPR, she'll die!"

"She is already dead. Now we have to improvise and hope for the best." I replied to Lucy before looking over to Elias. "Go ahead baby, be Novey's hero too." I said encouragingly.

The smile shined brightly on his face as he placed his small hand on top of Novalee's chest, where her heart would be.

This time, a bright golden color radiated from beneath his palm. Like he was producing a life force to go back inside of her.

"What is happening?" Lucy asked in astonishment.

"My baby is a healer. I was able to do it. But only one time. With you. Remember?"

Lucy's hand intertwined with mine, a silent sob escaping from her mouth.

"I knew he would be special. Just like you."

"I think he is even more special than we think."

That was when the extra faint beat could be heard.

"He... He did it. Holy shit, HE DID IT!"

"He did it." I repeated after her, the amazement settling in.

No, I couldn't be more proud of anything more than I am in this moment right now. See, I knew I would say it again. I just didn't realize it would be so soon. Yet here we were, standing there watching my two year old make history. Performing what one could call a rare phenomenon.

I was never the savior, it was always him.

"We need to get her to a hospital, pronto!"

"I don't think that's possible. We must do what we can here temporarily."

"I can shift. I'm not hurt. I can shift and she can ride on my back. I'll get her there fast. We aren't that far."

"It's not that. We just can't yet."

"Why bring her back to life if we aren't going to get her the help to keep her alive?"

"I can answer that." The echo of a voice that haunted my dreams said. "Come on love, go ahead and step out. I want to have a little chat. Face to face. Since my messages aren't being heard. That's too bad, really. Chresenda really would have liked for you to have found my stuff. She said so herself before, well you know."

I got off the bus to face her once more. In her hand she held a wand to Ezra's throat while the hit man lay dead on the ground below their feet.

"Oh, come on. Don't make me say it. It sounds so iniquitous."

I made a face, watching her closely.

"Fine, before she died. Happy?"

"Not even a little."

"Hm, that's too bad. Funny thing, me either. Something HE-" She said, moving Ezra back and forth dramatically before continuing to speak. "Could have changed that feeling for the both of us. If he could control his bloody wolf! But it looks like my jig is up here. Somehow your special little boy cracked the seal and it's crumbling."

I looked around to see patches of the bright sun shining in random spots.

"Let him go." I demanded, which only brought a wicked smile to her face.

"I told you, he was safe as long as you found my items. Since you've failed. I have no use for him any longer."

"You can't kill him, you need him! His wolf is the only one who knows where the Alexandrite is."

"That's where you're wrong my dear. I don't need him, per say. I only need his wolf part. Which means that all I have to do is simply extract his wolf's soul. But you know as well as I know, that if there is no wolf then there is no Ezzy." She said while moving a vile of something back and forth in her hand.

My heart started to pound against my chest rapidly. No... I just got him back. She can't take him from me. Not yet. I'm simply not ready. But truth be told, when is anyone ever ready to face death?
