TEGAN'S P.O.V

When I was pleased with the results I allowed my anger to subside.

"I thought you were going to kill him." Ezra said beside me.

"Well, what fun would that be?" I asked.

"You remember everything?" Ezra then asked.

"Of course, why would I not?"

"Your eyes were that shade of red from before. I thought that something was possessing you again."

"Hmm, maybe when I tap into my abilities my eyes change color. I had never used my gifts around anyone knowingly before, maybe I just didn't know?"

"That part makes sense. But the time I saw your eyes turn red, you didn't remember anything afterwards and that still doesn't make sense."

We both sat there looking at my father on the floor, his hands over his mouth.

"Why exactly did you cut out his tongue?" Ezra then asked.

"Because I said I would if he spoke of my mother again. What's a promise if its' not kept anyway? It becomes meaningless words. At least now, people won't question if I mean what I say." "And then the part about being made fun of?"

"That's just payback, what goes around comes around. Now he won't be able to speak and if he tries he'll sound funny like I did when I was deaf. Then he'll know what it's like to be ridiculed and made fun of for being different." "Do you think he will make them learn sign language now?" Ezra asked with a chuckle.

"No, he isn't an Alpha anymore. And by the looks of it, their new Alpha is a shitty one who sits back and allows his members to be hurt." I said looking back at Darion who was still in the same place, probably in shock.

"Well, it looks like our visit is cut short. Let's go get our bags and get out of here before your brother comes too, sending guards to attack us."

"I wished he would. That would be the last command he ever gives." I said as I took Elias from Ezra leading him out of the ceremony. "But youre right, we should leave. We weren't exactly welcomed before." I said as Allie appeared in the doorway. "What happened?" She asked, looking around.

"Go ask dad. He'll tell you." I said, making myself laugh at my dark humor.

Once we got to the room we started gathering what items were taken out of the bags while quickly putting Elias in his carseat.

"Ready to go?" Ezra asked just as someone pounded on the door.

"Damn, they were faster than I expected." I said, making Ezra get in a fighting stance.

"Who is it?" I asked loudly.

"Fredrick. Open up!" He said, breathlessly.

I opened the door as he rushed in holding his own bag.

"What do you want?" I asked, eyeing his bag.

"I can't stay here. Can I come with you guys, please." He said, looking between Ezra and I.

"Fredrick I don't think that's such a good ide... -"

"I have money, I can help pay bills or work in the kitchen or laundry or whatever." He said, still out of breath making Ezra chuckle.

"We don't need your money, Fredrick." Ezra then said.

"Please." He begged once more. "If I stay here, I will die. It's either begging to tag along or become rogue. I don't like the idea of the latter but I will if you don't give me a chance." He said, making Ezra look over at me.

"It's her call, not mine." He then said as he picked up all of our bags in one go.

I sat there looking at Fredrick's pleading eyes. The same color as my own. I knew as much as I wanted to hate him, I couldn't and if I could help him, I would.

"Fine. Take some of those bags from Ezra. We have to get going before Darion comes to his senses and tries to act like a badass." I said as I picked Elias's car seat up.

"Thank you!" Fredrick nearly screamed as he took a few bags from Ezra, lightening his load.

When we made it downstairs. Echoes of voices still coming from the ceremony room.

"We have to do something!" Jessie's voice screamed out.

"Like what!? You saw what she did! You're not blind!" Darion replied.

"Send the guards, take her to the dungeons! What she did is punishable by death!"

"And she kill my guards because father didn't listen to her threat!? Hell no. It's not like she killed him, she just removed his tongue." Darion said.

"But he is your father!" Jessie hollered.

"And he was also my father when I had you bent over in his bed fucking you. I clearly didn't fucking care then either!" He screamed, making Jessie gasp in horror. "That's different, we love each other!"

"Are you fucking mad? I don't love you! I only would fuck you for the satisfaction of knowing it would hurt him!"

"But you never even told him!"

"I wanted him to walk in on it, to see the look on his face. But the dumbass didn't have a fucking clue." Darion said, as a smack was heard.

"Now that my dear is punishable by death. Striking a real Alpha." He said as we exited the house going straight for our car.

Once in the car and Elias was strapped in we headed out.

"Thanks for letting me tag along." Fredrick said as we exited the road that led to The Red Blood pack.

"If I didn't, you'd be dead." I responded with what he said earlier.

"Do you think he is going to actually kill Jessie?" He then asked.

"Not my circus, not my monkeys." I replied carelessly.

"What does that mean?" He asked, confused.

"It means that I don't care and it's not my problem." I said bluntly.

"Right, of course." Fredick then replied.

"Look, I know she raised you and stuff but I didn't see the loving nurturing side of her. I won't sugar coat anything when I say I don't care. She never cared about me, why should I care about her?" "I know." He replied in a whisper. "I'm sorry." He then said when I did not respond.

"It's water under the bridge."

"Not for me. I will forever try making up for never standing up to them." Fredrick said as I looked in the mirror at him.

"There is nothing you can do now that will change the past. It's best if we just move forward and forget the past." I repeated what my therapist once said to me.

"You can never forget the past if it haunts you in your sleep at night." He whispered so low I almost couldn't hear.

I looked back to reply when he spoke again.

"How far away is the Kingdom exactly?"

"A little over 12 hours, so get comfortable we have a long drive ahead of us." Ezra responded for me.

Fredrick stared blankly out the window, reminding me of myself when I left home for the first time too. But my mind only thought of one thing, why would my past haunt him?
