Chapter 614: Never Sent Before
Albi said, "I'll have them move in directly." After speaking, Albi called over the people he brought with him and moved all the flowers inside. "If anyone needs help, lend a hand," he said. "Okay, Albi."
More hands make light work. In less than half an hour, everything that was previously damaged had been fixed.
After finishing up, Yanis had Linda check everything again to make sure there were no problems before feeling relieved.
"Albi, let me treat you to a meal later," Yanis turned to Albi.
"No thanks. Mr. Lawrence has arranged something else for me to do, so we should go now," Albi politely declined Yanis' offer.
These past few days with Zane had made it clear that if he accepted Yanis' invitation for dinner, then he'll need to pack up and leave immediately, since Mr. Lawrence had been trying to arrange dinner plans with Yanis for three days without success.
At the company these past few days, Zane's expression was freezing cold; wherever he went, it seemed like the temperature dropped by ten degrees, making him shiver uncontrollably.
Seeing that Albi refused his offer of dinner again, Yanis didn't say anything more except thanking him once more, before watching as Albi left with his people, soon after which guests from the groom's side arrived at the venue.
Yanis and others cleaned up and went backstage.
It was three or four o'clock in the afternoon after the wedding.
The groom should be a good drinker. Although he looked drunk, his mind was still very clear when calculating the bill. He paid 1000 dollar more, saying that his wife liked it very much.
Yanis didn't refuse. She just accepted it and said a few words of congratulations.
The bride drank a little too much, pulling Yanis to her and expressed her delight in their work.
After all the people had gone, Yanis arranged Linda and them to clear the place.
The clearance was part of the plan.
The hotel was not responsible because there were too many things. It was agreed at the beginning.
Yanis took care of some things, and Linda took care of the rest.
Yanis transferred some money to Linda and asked them to replace a place to eat by themselves. Then he left the hotel.
As soon as she got into her car, Bonnie called, asking if everything was done yet.
"Yeah... perfectly wrapped up! I'll transfer your money over shortly."
Bonnie said, "Put that aside for now, no rush.
"How are you? Still running a fever?"
As soon as Bonnie brought up the topic, she became angry. "Don't even mention it! It's like seeing a ghost - every afternoon I start to run a fever and it goes up to 40 degrees. I feel like I might have some incurable disease!"
"Bonnie!"
"Bonnie! Shut up!"
At the same time, Yanis yelled, and Myles' voice on the other end of the phone was more angry.
Bonnie clicked her tongue. "I'm sick and you two are still scolding me!"
"Speak properly," Myles said sternly.
Yanis also chimed in agreement. "Yeah, speak properly."
Bonnie responded with an affirmative grunt before changing the subject: "So are you going back to the store or somewhere else?" Yanis checked his watch before replying: "I have a game tonight, so I might be late getting back... Can you leave tomorrow if your fever subsides this afternoon? You must be going crazy cooped up in that hospital."
Yanis lowered his voice: "Just be good and staying in hospital; it'll help with your recovery."
"Yes yes yes," Bonnie replied obediently, while adding flattery: "Thank you, Boss Thompson, for taking care of me... When I'm better, let me treat you to dinner." They chatted aimlessly for a bit longer before hanging up.
After ending her call with Bonnie, Yanis looked at his watch again, then dialed Zane's number.
The call was answered almost immediately, which surprised Yanis; had Zane been waiting specifically for her call?
"Yanis?"
Before she could say anything else, Zane spoke first from her phone.
"You done?"
"Yeah," Yanis replied after hearing Zane's voice on the other end of her phone.
"I've been waiting for your call."
Clearing her throat lightly upon hearing this statement from him, Yanissaid:"So umm.. where are you right now?"
"At work."
"In that case, should I drive over there or wait at the restaurant?"
"You're still at your hotel?" asked Zane.
"Mhm, just finished my work over there."
"Just wait there, I'll come pick you up."
Yanis said nothing but hesitated momentarily before agreeing, "Okay, I'll wait inside my car by the entrance."
Zane replied, "See you later."
After ending their conversation, Yanissent Linda a message, asking her to drive the car back later. Linda was probably too busy, because she didn't reply until after Zane showed up and they were already driving away together Yanis had no choice but to call Linda.
"Yanis?"
"Come out, I'm at the door."
Linda responded, "Okay."
Soon enough, Linda came out and Yanis handed her the car keys. "Let Stanley Cooper and them ride your car back, you drive back yourself."
Linda was about to ask how she would get back, but when she saw the black Bentley parked on the side, she swallowed her words. She leaned in close to Yanis with a mysterious look and whispered softly, "Yanis, are you going on a date?"
Yanis rubbed her head with her hand. "Get back to work quickly. After we finish eating later, you can go rest and come into work later tomorrow."
Linda smiled and replied, "Okay. You should hurry up now, so that you don't keep someone waiting for too long."
Yanis glanced at her before saying, "Go inside now."
Linda waved goodbye before turning around.
After Linda went inside, Yanis turned around towards where his car was parked. Zane got off the car and opened Yanis's door.
As Yanis was about to bend down to sit in, she noticed something on the passenger seat which made her pause. She turned her head towards Zane.
Zane bent down and picked up a bouquet of fresh red roses that were placed there earlier. "You worked hard today," Zane said as he handed it over to Yanis.
Looking at the large bunch of red roses, Yanis slightly raised an eyebrow. "Why did you suddenly think of giving me flowers?"
"I don't think I've ever given them before," Zane said with a smile.
Yannis took it from him gratefully. "Thank you."
Zane's lips curved upwards slightly as he asked, "Do you like them?"
With such a large bunch of red roses, no woman would dislike them, Yannis thought. "I do like them," she replied as she placed it ontothe rear seat. Afterwards, Yannis sat hierself into the passenger seat again. After Zane sat next to her, she asked, "What do you want to eat tonight?"
"Your treat?" Zane asked.
Yanis said, "I was busy earlier. That's why I refused you. I will keep my words today."
"I know. I'm not angery at you," Zane said.
Yanis glanced at his face. "Really?"
Zane mused, "You're busy. I shouldn't have bothered you. It's my fault."
