Love at the Door -
Chapter 61
Chapter 61
When the two women saw Melina looking their way, they didn’t hold back and started hurling insults at her.
“What are you staring at? The dresses here cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. each. Can you afford that?”
“You wouldn’t be able to pay if you damage them.”
“Do you think putting on a gown will magically turn you into something special? No matter what you wear, you’ll never hide that disgusting stench of dirt clinging to you!”
“Andrew belongs to Linda. You shameless tramp, do you think getting into Oakread will let you stay by his side? Stop dreaming!”
Melina instantly understood that they were part of Linda’s crowd.
Here it went again, and it was always the same with these people.
Every time they saw Melina, they would hurl insults at her, as if she had committed grave offenses. It was all because they believed Andre should be with Linda.
Regardless of their feelings, Melina and Andrew were the ones legally married. Who were they to judge her?
Melina remained seated, barely lifting her head to glance at the two women. Her voice was calm as she said, “There’s no one else around here.”
What she meant was that there was no one to stop her if she decided to fight back.
But the woman didn’t catch her meaning.
The one in the black dress sneered, “Exactly, no one’s going to protect you, you filthy woman. Watch how we teach you a lesson today.”
They exchanged a glance before charging at Melina.
The woman in the black dress raised her hand, ready to slap Melina. The other had a pair of scissors in hand, reaching for Melina’s long hair to cut it off.
Melina almost found it funny. She hadn’t even lifted a finger, yet they were to attack her fist.
Melina’s reaction speed was trained by fighting against wild beasts in the mountains. These two weak women were no match for her.
With one swift kick, Melina sent the woman who was about to slap her flying across
the room.
Then, she grabbed the scissors from the other woman with a quick movement and forced her to the ground.
Without hesitation, she snatched a handful of the woman’s hair and cut it off with a
single snip.
Andrew told her before that she could fight back if someone bullied her.
The scene fell silent for a moment.
The woman in the black dress, who had been kicked, struggled to straighten up. The other woman stared at the cut hair scattered across the floor, momentarily stunned.
Then, a piercing scream shattered the quiet.
“You filthy woman! You cut my hair!”
“Help! Someone’s attacking us! Help!”
Both women began yelling hysterically, acting as if Melina had nearly beaten them to death.
fas!
In truth, all Melina had done was defend herself as she kicked the one who tried to slap her and cut the hair of the one who aimed to cut hers.
Their commotion quickly caught the attention of the store staff.
Several sales assistants rushed over, and soon after, the fitting room door swung.
open.
Linda emerged, looking every bit at the picture of elegance and grace donned in a light yellow gown.
“What’s going on here?” Linda asked with a calm but authoritative tone.
The two women rushed over to her, sniffling and pointing at Melina.
“Linda, we were just trying to help Melina pick out a dress, and she attacked us!”
“Look at what she did to my hair! I’m calling the police! She needs to be arrested!”
Linda frowned and turned to Melina. Her voice was accusatory. “Melina, how could you just start hitting people like that? This is Cyntia, and it is not your barbaric village. Fighting is against the law here!”
Melina’s response was sharp. “You were in the fitting room next door. Don’t tell me you didn’t hear what happened. You know clearly that I didn’t just hit them out of nowhere.”
