Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1011: Please behave yourself
Hector didn't expect her to say such a thing and his face sank like water.
Earlene curled her lips slightly and locked her gaze on his handsome face, "Mr Hector, do you think I'm right?"
A cold rush swept across his eyes, Hector's thin lips parted lightly, his voice as cold as the frost of a cold winter month, "Eloise considers you a friend, don't you think it's wrong for you to say these things?" "It's because I'm a friend that I dare say that. One has to recognise reality, doesn't one?"
Earlene never felt she had said anything wrong and looked as if she was justified.
Hector smiled coldly, "You don't get to say anything about Eloise and I. Please, Miss Earlene, behave yourself."
With those words, he strides towards Eloise, leaving her with an icy back.
Earlene clenched the glass in her hand with a look of resignation.
She was better than Eloise, better for him than Eloise, but why was Eloise all he could see in his eyes.
What a bummer!
"Touching the cold nail again."
A sneering voice rang in her ears and Earlene gave the visitor a sidelong glance before turning away from him.
Rawlins pulled his lips down in disbelief, "Earlene, I think you should give up. there is no way Hector is going to see you." "Shut up!"
Earlene turned her head and growled low, her eyes fierce as she glared at him, "It's not your place to tell me what to do." "How come it's not your turn?" Rawlins grimaced, "Don't forget, I'm your brother."
"Brother?" Earlene snorted, "What kind of brother are you, you're just an orphan adopted by the Bartram family."
Those words were as hard as a knife. It stuck in Rawlins heart, and after all these years, she still knew how to break his heart.
Rawlins took a light sip of the wine in his hand and curled his lips, "Whether you admit it or not, I am part of the Bartram family, I am your brother, and that identity will never change." "Whatever."
Earlene turns and strides away.
Watching her slender back, Rawlins tilted his head and poured the rest of his glass into his mouth in one gulp, the cold liquid sliding down his throat and into his belly, irritating his stomach, which hadn't eaten all day. He pressed his stomach subconsciously, his brow furrowing.
"Mr Rawlins, don't you have a sick stomach?"
A soft voice rang in his ears and Rawlins turned his head only to see Hector and Eloise arriving beside him at some point.
He dropped his hand in a hurry and said with a smile, "It's a bit uncomfortable, but it's okay, it'll be fine in a minute."
His face didn't look like it was all right and Eloise called out to the maid, "Get me some stomach medicine."
When Rawlins heard this, he waved his hand and said, "Don't bother, I'll be fine."
Eloise ignored his words, "Go and get it."
When the maid hurried away, she said, "Mr Rawlins, I understand how uncomfortable it is to have an upset stomach, so it's better to take some medicine."
Rawlins looked at Hector and laughed helplessly, "It's an old stomach bug I've gotten used to."
"All the more reason to be careful since it's an old stomach bug." Eloise pointed to the buffet not far away, "You'll go and have something to fill your belly later, then take your medicine, and don't drink the wine." At that, the smile on Rawlins' face grew even wider, "Mr Hector, you don't usually get a lot of discipline, do you?"
His teasing made Eloise realise that she did manage too much and was instantly embarrassed, "Mr Rawlins, don't get me wrong, I'm just ..."
Before the words could be finished, they were interrupted by Rawlins, "I didn't misunderstand, I just that you meant well."
"If you're really uncomfortable, go home early and rest." Hector spoke up in a rare moment.
Rawlins nodded, "Good."
Afterwards, Rawlins took his medicine, which still did not relieve his stomach pain, and left with Earlene first.
Hector and Eloise walked them to the door and watched their car drive away before turning around and heading back to the house.
"
"Why do I feel like Earlene is in a bad mood." Eloise's thin eyebrows furrowed as she thought of Earlene's lovey-dovey attitude towards her earlier. Hector's eyes flickered slightly as he said faintly, "Probably worried about her brother."
Eloise looked at him sideways, "Really, why doesn't it look like that?"
On the contrary, it was more like she had offended her herself, completely missing the warmth she had shown before.
"Eloise," Hector said, stopping suddenly on his feet.
Eloise stopped after him and looked at him quizzically, "What's wrong?"
"Hang out less with Earlene in the future."
"Why?" Eloise didn't understand why he was suddenly saying this.
Hector pondered for a moment, "She's not as simple as she seems, and I'm afraid you might get hurt."
Eloise laughed out loud as if she had heard a joke, "Hector, you're overthinking it, how could Earlene possibly hurt me? She's the only friend I have in Kyoto."
"There are genuine and not so genuine friends, do you think she's genuine?" Hector asked.
"Of course ...," Eloise was about to blurt out, but hesitated when she thought of Earlene's attitude earlier.
Hector grabbed her shoulders with both hands and leaned in slightly, looking straight into her clear eyes, saying with particular seriousness, word by word, "Stay away from her, she and you are not on the same page." Although she didn't know why he was saying this for good reason, Eloise knew he had a reason for saying it.
So, she nodded, "Okay, I get it. I'll try not to hang out with her in the future."
Hector smiled and raised his hand to rub her head, "That's a good girl."
Eloise's little face frowned and she muttered discontentedly, "I'm not a child anymore, don't you touch my head like that."
Hector smiled and said nothing more.
...
In contrast to the buzz of the birthday party, the Khan Group building was quiet.
In the president's office, Edgar walked anxiously over and over, occasionally raising his hand to check his watch.
"Why haven't we heard anything yet?" He loosened his tie in annoyance.
Just then the door to the office was opened from outside and Ivor hurried up to him.
"President, the man has been brought in."
At that, Edgar immediately said, "Bring him in."
Ivor led the way out and, in a few moments, came in with a middle-aged man.
The man's eyes darted around in a troubled manner.
Edgar walked up to him, his brow furrowed slightly, "You are Winchell?"
The man swallowed, "I am."
"What is your relationship with Arlice?" Edgar asked again.
The man, Winchell suddenly smiled, "You didn't already know that, so why bother asking me more than once."
Edgar nodded, "You're right, I shouldn't have asked. So let me ask you, you were the one who declared the herbs for export some time ago, weren't you?" Winchell's eyes drifted up, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"No?" Edgar sneered, "Then look what this is."
He threw him the list of declared exports that Ivor had put together earlier.
