Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1014: I'll send you there
Looking at an irritated Arlice, Edgar's face grew even bigger, "Lobby, I'm just guessing, you don't have to get so worked up." Arlice snorted out a laugh, "Guess? I see that's what you think of me."
He took a deep breath and held back his indignation as he continued, "How much I have given to the Khan Group over the past few years, but in the end, to have such an empty rumour spread by you, I really feel bad for myself." Edgar might have believed his "truth" if he hadn't known he was doing it.
"It's one thing to another, and besides, I'm not denying your dedication to the Khan Group, I just want to know about this man on the recording, do you know him? Is everything he says true?"
Faced with Edgar's question, Arlice turned his face away from him, "I don't know him, and what he said isn't true."
"Okay." Edgar nodded, "Forget it if you don't know each other."
This is to be expected.
He lifted a step towards the door and as he passed Arlice, he paused and turned his head sideways, looking at him obliquely, "Lobby, I forgot to tell you that the man who injected Frankson with the poison is almost caught and I really can't wait to replace out who that man is."
Arlice's face was tense, his hands falling into fists at his side, his knuckles white.
Edgar, on the other hand, laughed and set off on his way.
"Damn!"
Arlice swept the contents of his desk to the floor with a wave of his arm.
"Edgar!" he spat out through clenched teeth, his face grim and frightening.
Seeing this coming together ...
Arlice closed his eyes and gritted his teeth in hatred.
It was his fault for underestimating Edgar and for being too careless in not letting Winchell hide, which gave Edgar the opportunity to take advantage of the situation. No!
He oohed and aahed, he had to replace a way to remove himself from this matter or it would all be over by then.
...
Eloise went to the hospital early in the morning; it was Maryam's day for a medical check-up.
When we arrived at the hospital, before one could sit down and take a breath, the nurse came over to inform us that we had to queue for the MRI. Eloise hurriedly took Maryam towards the building where the hospital MRI was located.
After a series of examinations, it was already noon.
Back in the ward, both Brimlad and Hector had arrived.
"Well? Are the checks all done?"
Seeing them return, Brimlad rushed forward to greet them, helping Maryam to sit down on the edge of the bed while asking concerned questions. "It's all checked out." Eloise felt as limp as a drained ball and slumped right back onto the couch.
Hector walked over to her and sat down, opened the thermos bucket sitting on the coffee table, then took a bowl and poured some soup.
"Have some soup first." He held the bowl in one hand and the spoon in the other, intending to feed her.
With her mother and sister-in-law here, and her thin skin, she dared not let him feed her.
So she hurriedly sat up straight, took the bowl and spoon from him, and smiled, "I'll just do it myself."
Hector's eyes were full of affection as he watched her take a sip of the soup.
Maryam and Brimlad look at each other and smile.
After almost running here and there all morning, Eloise was really hungry and finished her soup in a couple of sittings.
Brimlad had just served Maryam a bowl of soup just in time to see her drink it all up and asked with a smile, "Would you like some more?"
Eloise lifted her head and curled her lips in a smile, "No, I've been invited to dinner later."
"Who is it?"
"Earlene."
As soon as the name was uttered, Eloise hurriedly covered her mouth and turned her head towards Hector.
He had just told her to keep her interactions with Earlene to a minimum, and he was about to have dinner with someone else today, completely ignoring his words. Hector's expression was light and unreadable.
Eloise laughed dryly and held up her hand in a vow, "Just this once today, not again."
Brimlad looked bewildered, "Eloise, what are you doing?"
"It's nothing." Eloise smiled at her Sweety, then got up and pulled Hector out.
"What's with these two kids?" Maryam asked, puzzled.
Brimlad shook his head, "I don't know."
Only after Eloise and Hector had left the ward without the two elders did she explain, "I was with Mum for a check-up when she called me and I didn't think too much about it, so I just said yes." Hector stared deeply at her, still with an unreadable expression of joy and anger.
Eloise took a deep breath, "Well, I won't go then, is that okay?"
"I'm not keeping you from going." Hector finally spoke up.
"So what do you mean?" Eloise couldn't really understand how he couldn't like Earlene, who was obviously quite a nice person.
Her tone sounded a bit bad, like she was angry.
Hector lost his smile, "You can go, but come back early."
"Really?"
"Well, I'll walk you there."
Eloise replaces this man more and more confusing, didn't he say he wanted her to stop seeing Earlene? Why did he now agree to meet Earlene for dinner and even send her there himself? His mind is too hard to guess.
I don't know if he saw what she was thinking, but Hector said, "Since you promised someone, it seems like you're not keeping your word by not going."
Eloise said "Oh" and said nothing more.
...
Earlene had asked Eloise to meet her for lunch and she arrived at the restaurant ten minutes early.
The thought of the way Hector treated himself last night gave her a pang of annoyance.
She picked up the water on the table and took a large sip, the cold water flowing down her throat and into her stomach, only slightly relieving her irritation. Booked a seat by the window, you can see the street outside as soon as you turn your head.
At noon, there were not many people in the streets.
She was about to take her eyes back when suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of a car parked in front of the restaurant. The people in the car can be clearly seen through the windscreen.
It's Hector and Eloise.
"Here it is."
Eloise probed the restaurant sign and looked down to unbuckle her seatbelt, "I'm going down, be careful on your way back."
Having said that, she smiled at Hector and reached for the door.
"Wait." Hector pulled her back.
"What's wrong?" She looked at him suspiciously.
A small smile tugged at the corners of Hector's mouth, "Call me when you're done and I'll come pick you up."
Eloise smiled and nodded, "Good."
Opening the door and getting out of the car, she waved her hand at him before heading into the restaurant.
He watched her enter the restaurant before Hector started the car and left.
Earlene watched the car go away, not even noticing Eloise walking up to her.
"Earlene, what are you looking at?"
The sudden sound of a voice pulled Earlene back to her senses and she stood up, smiling Brimlad, "Eloise, there you are."
"Hmm." Eloise pulled her chair back and sat down, turning her head to look out and asking curiously, "What were you looking at?" Earlene smiled and shook her head, "Nothing, just looking around."
