Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1015: You are very ignorant
In the dining room, the melodious sound of the piano flows quietly.
Earlene raised her eyes and her gaze fell on Eloise, who was eating quietly across the table, with a thoughtful expression.
Eloise put down her knife and fork, picked up a napkin and gently wiped the corner of her mouth, looked up and met Earlene's gaze. The corner of her mouth lifted slightly, "What's wrong?"
Earlene looked back and smiled, shaking her head, "Nothing. Just watching you eat."
Eloise looked down at the food on her plate and nodded, "It tastes pretty good. You don't seem to have much of an appetite though." In stark contrast to her plate, Earlene's plate of food was barely touched.
"It's a bit of a loss of appetite." Earlene laughed bitterly.
"What's wrong?" Eloise asked with concern as she put away her smile.
Earlene was silent for a long time before she spoke slowly, "I'm in love with a man."
At that, Eloise's eyes widened in surprise, "Who is it?"
Could it be her cousin?
"You don't know it."
Earlene took a sip of water and absently changed the subject, "How did you and Mr Hector meet, do you want to tell me about it?"
"Well ..." Eloise couldn't help but smile as she thought back seriously on how she and Hector met, "There's not really much to say, it's just fate that brought us to know each other." Earlene guffawed, "Then you were really meant for each other, otherwise with who he was, you might have had a hard time getting to know him then."
"That's true." Eloise didn't take her words deeper than that, only that she was right.
After all, how could she have ever imagined at the time that she could meet Hector, or even fall in love with him?
Earlene lost interest for a moment, wiping her mouth with a paper towel and inquiring, "Finished eating?"
Eloise was eating the rest of her steak and when she asked, she looked up at her, "Right away."
A quick glint of disgust crossed Earlene's eyes and her tone was a little cold, "I'll go to the checkout then, you take your time." Seeing her get up and head for the till, Eloise hurriedly swallowed the food in her mouth and got up to chase after her. "I'll do it."
She stopped Earlene and handed her card to the cashier ahead of her.
Earlene frowned, "Didn't we say I'd buy you?"
Eloise smiled, "You invited me and my mother before, this time I'll invite you back."
"You..." Earlene shook her head helplessly, "That's fine, then I'll let you break the bank."
After settling the bill, the two returned to their seats.
Earlene picked up her bag and asked with a smile, "Do you want me to walk you back?"
"No, Hector will come and pick me up."
Eloise looked down to get her bag, not noticing the jealousy under Earlene's eyes.
The two walked together to the door of the restaurant and Eloise turned her head, "I have to wait for Hector, you go ahead." "It's okay, I'll wait with you."
Earlene looked around, pulled her under a tree by the side of the road and said, "Let's just wait here."
Eloise wanted to say that she didn't have to wait with her, but when she saw how positive Earlene was, she swallowed her refusal. After waiting for about ten minutes, Hector hadn't come.
Earlene glanced at her watch and frowned slightly, "Why is Mr Hector so slow?"
"There may have been a delay."
Compared to Earlene's anxiety, Eloise seems much more calm.
Earlene thought for a moment, "Why don't I give you a lift back so Mr Hector doesn't have to make the trip?"
Eloise smiled and shook her head, "It's fine, I can take my time."
Hearing this, Earlene's brow locked, "Eloise, I replace that you are actually quite uninformed."
"Huh?" Eloise looked confused, not understanding what she meant.
"You know Mr Hector has something to do and yet you want him to take the time to pick you up, you're not thinking of him at all."
Earlene's accusatory tone made Eloise a little uncomfortable.
In all the time they had known each other, she had never spoken to herself in that tone of voice.
Eloise wrinkled her nose, "Earlene, what's wrong with you?"
"I just don't think you're doing the right thing, since you can't help Mr Hector in his career, you should know better than to let him surround you twenty-four hours a day, the most important thing for a man is his career." When it comes to the latter, Earlene gets a little excited.
Eloise couldn't help but laugh, it was an exasperated laugh.
"Earlene, this is between me and Hector, and it's probably not your turn to tell me what to do, is it?"
"I ..."
It was then that Earlene reacted to what she had said, and her face, which was wearing delicate make-up, instantly turned ugly.
"I'm sorry, Eloise," she hastened to apologize.
Eloise pursed her lips, "Earlene, I don't know why you would say something like that today, I hope you are just doing it for my own good and not for any other reason." Earlene didn't know what was wrong with her, but she blurted out everything she had in mind.
"Eloise, I'm just trying to tell you that a man's career is most important and that we as women can't rely on men for everything." Earlene tried to remedy what she had just said. "I understand what you mean." Eloise nodded, "But the tone of your voice makes me uncomfortable."
It feels as if one has made a big mistake.
Earlene looked apologetic, "I'm sorry, it's my fault, I shouldn't have talked to you like that."
Eloise is not a petty person, she has apologised and there is no way she can hold on to it.
"Well, I'm not angry anymore." Eloise smiled at her, "I actually wonder sometimes if I'm giving Hector a lot of trouble. You're right, I'll take care of that in the future." "Eloise, I didn't mean it like that..."
Earlene was about to explain when Eloise interrupted her, "Well, no more."
Earlene could only sigh, chagrined.
I'll have to be careful not to say things like that in front of her again or I'll reveal my mind.
After a while, Hector arrived.
"Earlene, I'll leave you to it, bye."
Eloise got into the car under Earlene's gaze.
Earlene stood at the curb and watched as soon as Eloise got into the car, Hector affectionately smoothed the stray strands of hair from her cheeks while Eloise smiled a sweet smile. She didn't notice that her hands were clenched so tightly that she didn't even feel her nails sink into her palms.
