Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1020: Know Earlene?
Earlene followed Edgar down the stairs, glancing back in the direction of Eloise's room, a chill covering her delicately made-up face. Once downstairs in the living room, Edgar thought about it and decided that Hector was being a little too insensitive.
Worried that Earlene might take it personally, he said reassuringly, "Earlene, that's just the way I am, Hector, so don't take it personally." As he spoke, he turned back just in time to see Earlene with an icy look on her face.
One can't help but be a little dismayed.
Earlene hastily put away all her coldness and curled her lips in a smile, "Don't worry, I didn't think much of it."
Is it?
So what was she doing just now?
Edgar didn't ask, despite the doubt in his mind, but smiled, "That's good."
He thought for a moment and asked, "Shall I take you back?"
Earlene nodded, "Good."
The car was quiet on the journey, Earlene turning her head to look out the window at the flashing scenery, her mind on Eloise's fainting spell. She always felt that something was wrong.
But I can't think what's wrong.
She turned her head to Edgar, who was driving carefully in the driver's seat, thoughtfully and asked, pretending not to think about it, "Eloise fainted and Mr Hector didn't seem at all anxious, has something like that happened before?" Edgar glanced at her sideways and returned ambiguously, "I suppose so."
Earlene raised an eyebrow with a surprised look, "Don't you know the real situation either?"
"Of course I'm aware of that." Edgar blurted out almost subconsciously.
"So you can tell me?"
"Huh?" Edgar looked at an expectant Earlene and was embarrassed.
Earlene smiled faintly, "No?"
"I'm sorry." Edgar smiled apologetically at her, "It's my cousin's personal business and I can't just talk about it."
"Oh." Earlene lost it all at once, "I thought we were friends, that's why I asked that, I hope you don't mind."
At that, Edgar shook his head in a rush, "I don't mind, I don't mind at all."
"Thank you, Edgar."
Looking at her with a bright smile, Edgar's heart skipped a beat and his face burned as he scratched his head in embarrassment, "I don't mind whatever you say."
Earlene smiled, then moved her eyes forward, sighed softly and said, "I was actually really worried about Eloise, it scared me to death watching her faint. So I really wanted to do something for her."
At this point, she sighed heavily again.
Seeing that she was genuinely concerned about Eloise, Edgar thought for a moment, "It's not really impossible to tell you ..."
Earlene turned her head and looked at him in amazement.
Edgar pondered for a moment, "Eloise is infected with a virus and there is no effective drug to destroy it."
"A virus?"
This was totally unexpected for Earlene and she laughed lightly, "If it really is a virus that can't be eradicated, then how can she normally look normal?"
As far as she understood it, but whenever a person was infected with a virus, the person would more or less have the disease manifest on the surface.
But Eloise is not at all, and is no different from the norm.
"That's because there are drugs suppressing the virus and the virus hasn't kicked in." Edgar explained, "But it's only temporary. Don't look at Eloise like she's normal, but she's actually very dangerous." "Listen to me Hector, if no more research is done on a viable drug, it could endanger Eloise's life."
Earlene nodded, "That's why Mr Hector won't let me examine Eloise for him, is it?"
"Well, he didn't want more people to know about it because it's a rare virus in Eloise's body that's valuable to study, so ..."
Edgar didn't finish, but anyone who has been exposed to medical research can tell what he didn't say.
Naturally Earlene was aware of this, and she lowered her eyes slightly to hide the glint of shrewdness under them, the corners of her mouth curving up, "I'm in pharmaceutical research too, aren't you worried?" "No worries." Edgar turned his head to look at her and smiled, "You're a good friend of Eloise's and a friend of mine, I trust you."
With an unspoken feeling welling up in her heart, Earlene curled her lips, "Thank you for your trust."
Edgar smiled and said nothing more.
The car is quiet again and Earlene turns her head to look out the window at the traffic, looking thoughtful.
...
When Almeida and Orvyn received the call from Thomas, they immediately dropped the research they were doing, booked the nearest flight and headed to Kyoto.
When they arrived at the old Khan family home, Thomas led them to the first floor to meet Hector. "Prince."
As soon as they saw Hector, the two men bowed their heads respectfully.
"She's in there, she hasn't woken up yet." Hector said, "Same as last time, fainted suddenly, no other symptoms."
Almeida and Orvyn looked at each other and Almeida spoke uncertainly, "Maybe the virus is acting up again."
"The exact cause needs to be examined further by us." Orvyn said.
"Go inside."
After receiving Hector's permission, Almeida and Orvyn entered the room at a fast pace.
They loaded the instruments they had brought with them and began checking Eloise's vital signs.
After about twenty minutes, Almeida turned to face Hector and reported truthfully, "Miss Eloise's vitals are normal, the virus in her body is showing signs of attack." At that, Hector frowned, "No seizure?"
"Not at the moment." Almeida turned her head to look at the values on the instruments and frowned, "Has Miss Eloise been emotionally stable for the past few days?"
Hector thought hard, "She's been pretty stable lately, except maybe a little agitated about the two kids before she fainted."
"That's right." Almeida breathed a long sigh of relief, "Miss Eloise's body doesn't allow for too much emotional turmoil, that's why she fainted, she'll wake up when she's had enough rest."
"So does the ... virus kick in?" Hector asked.
"As long as you take your medication on time, it's still under control for the time being, but once you develop a drug dependency and the medication can't be controlled anymore, it will come on slowly."
At this point, Almeida's expression turned grave, "The most important thing now is to research an effective drug to eradicate the virus as soon as possible."
"So have you made any progress?"
In response to Hector's question, Almeida bowed her head guiltily, "I'm sorry, but for the time being we still haven't made any progress. The structure of the virus is so complex that it may be some time before we can work out a drug that will completely destroy it."
Hector looks over at Eloise on the bed with a look so calm that it is impossible to guess what is on his mind at the moment.
The room was so quiet that only the sound of the instruments running could be heard.
Almeida and Orvyn exchanged glances, both not daring to breathe a word.
It was a long time before Hector spoke, "Do you know Earlene?"
