Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1021: A New Kind of Virus

"Earlene?"

Almeida thought hard, "I think I've heard that name somewhere."

As soon as he said that, Orvyn spoke up at the right time, "I know her, she's quite famous in pharmaceutical research."

As he shouted, Almeida remembered too, "Yes, she's quite famous, she seems to have won quite a few awards abroad." Hector pondered for a moment and asked, "She's above your level?"

Almeida shook her head, "Not necessarily. Everyone specialises in different areas, so you can't say who's above who." "So would she be able to do anything about the virus?" Hector asked again.

"It's hard to say, that's if she's ever been exposed to a virus."

Orvyn felt that Hector must have something in mind if he would ask that.

So, he asked directly, "Prince, are you planning to have her join us?"

Hector gave him a look and didn't answer, "You guys go ahead and get out."

Almeida and Orvyn could only go out first.

Once the two were out of the room, Orvyn whispered, "The prince isn't really going to let that Earlene join us, is he?"

Almeida raised an eyebrow, "It's not impossible."

"That's not possible." Orvyn looked resistant, "We've been studying it properly, adding another person to the mix would upset the rhythm."

Almeida gave him a sidelong glance, "You're overthinking it. Besides, the prince has his own ideas, let's just do our own thing."

With that, he strides down the stairs.

Orvyn hurried after him, "Hey, don't you mind? The two of us work so well together, one more person is really a pain in the ass."

As Almeida descended the stairs, he returned, "I don't care, I don't care if it's one or two more people to get Miss Eloise back to health sooner anyway." He turned his head and smiled at Orvyn.

Orvyn paused and skimmed his lips, "Yeah oh, you're the only one who's generous, I'm careful."

Almeida looked back at him and lost her smile, "Well, don't think about that, think about our research."

They had been stagnating in their research on the virus, which had annoyed Almeida to the point of thinking of giving up.

It was for this reason that he didn't mind having Earlene on board.

With a new person on board, there might be new discoveries to be made.

Of course, this is only what he envisages and it remains to be seen how the Prince will arrange it.

...

Eloise woke up in the dark, with only a wall lamp on, the orange light spilling right over the bed.

She sat up holding her somewhat groggy head.

At that moment, just as the door to the room was opened from outside, a long figure walked in.

His pupils flinched when he saw the person sitting up in the bed, and he hurried over to her quickly. "Eloise."

A low, familiar voice rang in his ears.

Eloise lifted her head and met a pair of dark eyes full of worry, an apologetic smile slowly spread at the corners of her mouth, "I've worried you again."

"Are you uncomfortable anywhere?" Hector asked softly as he reached out and rubbed her head.

"Nothing uncomfortable anywhere except for a little dizzy." Eloise rubbed her temples and smiled bitterly, "Why did I faint again?"

"Almeida said you got emotional and that's why you fainted."

Eloise thought back to before she fainted, she did get a little emotional because of Sweety.

She gave a helpless smile, "I wasn't very excited either, just slightly agitated. It seems my health is getting worse."

It hurt Hector to hear her say that to herself.

He sat down on the edge of the bed and took her into his arms, his large palm caressing her back, his voice softly whispering in her ear, "It's going to be okay, it's going to be okay, trust me." Eloise leaned into his chest, the corners of her mouth curving up, "Well, of course I believe you, I always have."

She then left his embrace and raised her eyes into his dark ones, her tone distinctly serious, "We're going to grow old together, so I'm going to be okay."

It was like a promise.

He didn't want her to see it, but he curled his lips and nodded, "Yes, it's going to be okay."

Eloise smiled and reached her arms around his waist, rejoining him in his embrace.

Hector gently stroked her soft hair, his expression slowly becoming grave.

He didn't know how much time she had left, and before that happened, he had to get Almeida and the others to work on a drug that would destroy the virus.

...

Earlene had been thinking about Eloise when she got home.

In all her years in pharmaceutical research, she had honestly seen no virus, so how could there be a virus that no drug could destroy.

Could it be a new type of virus?

But if it was a new type of virus, why had she not heard anything about it?

Was there a hidden agenda here?

As soon as Rawlins returned, he saw Earlene sitting in the living room, frowning, and walked over to her.

"Earlene, what are you thinking about?"

A voice suddenly rang out, pulling Earlene's drifting thoughts back. She looked up, saw it was Rawlins, looked cold and put her head down.

Seeing this, Rawlins' brow furrowed, "Do you not want to see me that much?"

There was no response.

A wave of anger washed over him and Rawlins took a deep breath, "Earlene, isn't it enough that I went to all the trouble of working with Hector for you, how long are you going to hate me?" Earlene oohed and aahed and looked at him coldly, "I appreciate everything you've done for me, but that doesn't conflict with me hating you."

"You!" Rawlins was too angry to say anything.

But soon, he calmed down as if what had just happened hadn't happened, "Mr John from SA Group called me again."

"What's he calling you for?" Earlene asked.

"What else can I do? It's not to ask you to work at the SA Group's institute."

"I'm not going."

A simple, sharp answer.

Rawlins raised an eyebrow, "Don't worry, that's what I replied to him. He won't give up so easily though, and he said he had a new virus there that might interest you." Earlene frowned, "A new type of virus?"

"I'm not sure exactly what kind of virus it is. But..." Rawlins narrowed his eyes, locking his gaze on her, "You ask that, are you interested?"

"No."

She was merely thinking about the possibility that what Eloise had on her might also be a new virus.

Rawlins was relieved, "That's good, the SA Group is openly in business, but there's something going on behind closed doors, I don't want you to get involved."

At that, Earlene snorted and sneered, "You don't want the whole Bartram family to get involved, do you?"

The comment made Rawlins uncomfortable, "Earlene, you know how I feel about you, why are you being so sarcastic?"

Earlene gave him a cold look and ignored it, heading straight up the stairs.

"Damn it!"

Rawlins cursed, his face full of resignation.

No matter how much he did for her, he was no match for that Hector!
