Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1023: The Discomfort
When Eloise had fallen asleep, Hector left the room gingerly.
He went to the study, where Edgar was still working at his desk.
Edgar, who heard the door open, looked up, saw it was him and hurriedly stood up, "Hector, why are you still awake?" Hector approached and asked in a deep voice, "How are things going with the Khan Group?"
At his question, Edgar slumped his shoulders in frustration, "The police still haven't caught anyone."
The week's deadline was coming up and he still hadn't been arrested.
The thought of Arlice's smug face made him angry.
Looking at his angry expression, Hector spoke calmly, "I'll go and replace Arlice myself."
At that, Edgar's eyes widened in surprise, "What are you going to do with him?"
"To ask something." Hector's eyes narrowed slightly, "Don't worry, I won't let you hand over the Khan Group."
Edgar smiled, "Of course I trust you."
Hector looked at him and his thin lips parted, "I want the police to suspend their investigation."
"Huh?" Edgar thought he'd heard wrong, "Suspend the investigation, Hector, are you kidding me?"
"You saw what happened to Eloise, I need Arlice's help."
The implication was that Arlice couldn't be touched yet.
Edgar wondered, "What does the Eloise situation have to do with Arlice?"
"The SA group has a sample of the virus from Eloise's body."
Edgar was shocked, "How could that be?"
"So you should be able to understand what I'm doing."
"I'll get the police to suspend their investigation. If you need any more help from me, just ask." Edgar was clear on the priority of the matter and immediately took a stand
He was well aware that his ability to sit on the Khan Group was really not as important as Eloise's.
It was a matter of life and death.
It had taken a long time to get someone back into the Khan family, and he couldn't let anything happen to her, or he wouldn't be able to explain it to his grandfather when he woke up. "Thanks."
Hector rarely thanked anyone, but when he did, he meant it.
"There's no need to be so polite as a family."
Edgar didn't know how to comfort him, so he said, "Eloise will be fine."
Hector nodded slightly, "You get on with it."
With those words, he turned to leave.
As he watched the door close, Edgar couldn't help but sigh.
Hopefully, Eloise would be back to health soon.
...
The next day, Eloise was forbidden to visit Maryam and Grandpa Khan in the hospital because of her health.
"You, just stay home and rest, I'll go to the hospital." Brimlad said to Eloise, who was eating breakfast, as he packed the food he was taking to Maryam.
"Auntie, I'm actually fine." Eloise didn't want to stay at home all the time, it would be too boring.
Brimlad gave her a feint look, "If I say you can't go, you can't go, I don't want you to pass out in the hospital and scare your mother into fainting too."
Well, her saying that dissuaded Eloise from wanting to go to the hospital.
"Right." Brimlad thought of something, "The two little ones have been taken to the office by Edgar and he has a special secretary looking after them, so you don't have to worry." Eloise frowned, "Will that affect his work?"
"It won't, don't worry."
Brimlad packed his bags and carried them in his hands, looking at Eloise with a gentle, light smile, "Take your time, eat and go upstairs to rest when you're done, I'm going to the hospital. If you need anything, call me, okay?" Eloise nodded, "I know."
"I'm off then."
"Take care on your way."
As she watched Brimlad walk out of the restaurant, Eloise withdrew her eyes and dropped to the breakfast in front of her, the smile on her lips slowly fading.
Hector had been out early in the morning, and there was no telling what he was up to.
She couldn't ask if he didn't want to talk about it.
The thought of her own health made her feel irritable again, and the food in her mouth was tasteless.
She forced herself to take a couple of bites and then went straight upstairs to her room.
She had just sat down on the edge of the bed when her mobile rang.
It was Earlene calling.
Reflecting on what she had seen yesterday, Eloise pursed her lips and picked up the phone, "Earlene."
"Eloise, are you feeling better?"
Earlene's concerned voice came from the other end of the phone.
If it had been before yesterday, she would have been touched.
But after yesterday, she wasn't touched, she just felt sick to her stomach.
Nevertheless, she answered back, "Yes, much better."
After answering, both of them fell into silence.
The awkwardness could be felt through the phone, though.
I don't know how long it took before Earlene's voice rang out again, "Eloise, do you want to come out? I'll take you for a walk around, just for a break." "No." Eloise refused outright.
Hearing the detachment in her voice, Earlene asked tentatively, "Eloise, what's wrong with you, why are you so cold all of a sudden?"
Eloise didn't say anything.
She didn't know how to answer, and she didn't dare to ask Earlene about the man she liked.
"Are you angry because I let Sweety have ice cream yesterday?"
"No."
"Then what's wrong? It's going to be hard on my heart if you don't tell me."
Eloise was silent again.
Earlene got a little anxious, "Eloise, we're friends, I don't want there to be any misunderstanding between the two of us."
"You said earlier that someone you liked was married, didn't you?" Eloise asked suddenly.
A silence fell over there for a long time before Earlene's voice rang out, "Yes, what's wrong?"
"Nothing. I just wanted to ask if I knew that man?"
After asking the question, Eloise's grip on the phone subconsciously tightened.
Did she know something?
Earlene frowned hard.
Whirling around, she shook her head; there was no way, no way she could know.
"You don't know."
Instead of being relieved to hear that answer, Eloise was more diabolical.
"Then can you tell me who it is?" Eloise asked.
"It's a senior I knew when I was studying abroad, a very good man."
Her tone didn't sound the least bit heartfelt, and Eloise couldn't help but be puzzled.
She had clearly seen Earlene looking at Hector yesterday with adoration in her eyes, or had she misread it?
It couldn't be wrong, could it?
Earlene's puzzled voice came from the other side of the phone, "Eloise, why are you asking this question out of the blue?"
Eloise hastened to collect herself and laughed lightly, "It's because my aunt-in-law has been talking about you and wants me to set you up with my cousin." "With Mr Edgar?"
"Hmm. Actually, I think you and my cousin are quite suitable, both in terms of family and education and appearance."
Eloise knew she didn't like Edgar, so it was said on purpose, just to see what her reaction would be.
"Eloise, it is useless to have the right external conditions, it is the feeling that counts. I don't have any feelings for Mr Edgar, I just see him as a partner."
"You could get to know and see, maybe you'll get feelings?"
"No way."
Hearing such a categorical answer from Earlene, Eloise didn't want to say anything and her tone cooled down a bit, "Well, I won't set you up. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now." After saying that, she simply hung up the phone.
