Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1030: Is that your girlfriend?
The following night, the charity dinner was a lively affair.
This time, not only were many big names invited to the dinner, but also the elite from all walks of life.
Manzanares walked slowly down the red carpet with a beautiful woman on his arm, maintaining a polite smile on his clean face despite the flashing lights around him.
The host asked a few questions and Manzanares answered them all before leading her into the party.
"Do you remember what Pierce looks like?" Manzanares asked the woman beside him in a lowered voice.
The woman nodded, "Yes, I remember."
Manzanares gave a satisfied smile, "Then we'll see how you do later."
"Don't worry, I'll make sure I get the job done."
Manzanares led the woman around the guests, but strangely enough, they weren't looking at Pierce.
Had Hector's information been wrong? Had Pierce not actually come?
Just as Manzanares was wondering, someone shouted, "Rawlins and Earlene are here."
At that, Manzanares turned his head to look at the voice and his pupils suddenly tightened.
Earlene walked in with Rawlins on her arm, accompanied by a tall, dark-haired, dark-eyed foreign man.
It was no other than Pierce.
Manzanares subconsciously squeezed the goblet in his hand, tilted his head slightly and said in a deep voice, "We'll see what happens later."
The woman beside him stared at Pierce and nodded, "Good."
"Earlene, you walk Pierce around while I replace the dinner party host."
Rawlins' voice is gentle, but Earlene is unmoved, expressionlessly releasing his hand and turning her head to look at Pierce for a moment, the corners of her mouth immediately lift in a smile Brimlad, "Mr Pierce, this way we go." A bitter smile spread across the corners of Rawlins mouth as he watched them walk away together, he sighed softly, just when would Earlene let go of her animosity towards him?
Seeing Pierce and Earlene heading this way, Manzanares hurriedly straightened his back, "Here we go, get ready to move."
At the word, the woman immediately took his hand and the two of them headed towards Pierce and the others.
Earlene's eyes flashed with surprise when she saw Manzanares, and as she approached, her red lips twitched to say hello. The woman beside him suddenly let out a yelp and fell forward.
Earlene subconsciously ducked to the side.
But Pierce was a step behind and the wine in her hand fell on his chest.
The woman also falls on top of him.
A tantalising scent enters his nose, tickling Pierce's heart.
He reached out and put a hand on the woman's waist, holding her up and asking, "Are you all right?"
The woman stroked her hair from her ears and shook her head shyly, "I'm fine, thank you."
"You're welcome."
"Mr Pierce, you ..." Earlene looked at the wreckage on his chest and wanted to say something.
The woman saw it and blanched in shock and hurriedly said, "I'm sorry I'm sorry, please let me clean it up for you if I can."
Pierce wasn't angry, his gaze was fixed on the woman with that light in his eyes that men crave for women.
They say Nordic women are beautiful.
And it was true.
Both Earlene and the woman in front of him were beautiful, beautiful enough to make your heart itch.
Manzanares looked at Pierce, both men, and knew at a glance that his plan was half successful.
He scolded him sternly with a deliberate scowl: "What's the matter with you, can't you walk? And you've soiled this gentleman's clothes." The woman's eyes instantly reddened and she said accusingly, "I didn't mean to."
"You ..."
Manzanares was about to scold her when Pierce interrupted, "Sir, don't scold her, I'm fine."
Looking at him, Manzanares only reluctantly spoke to the woman, "Okay, stop crying. And don't thank someone."
"Thank you thank you."
The woman's good nature made Pierce's heart ache, "Didn't you say you were going to help me clean up my clothes? Let's go."
"May I?" The woman looked to Manzanares.
Only after receiving the latter's permission did she follow Pierce out.
Watching their departing backs, Manzanares breathed a silent sigh of relief and turned around, ready to walk away.
"Mr. Manzanares."
Manzanares paused and turned back, "Miss Earlene, what's wrong?"
Earlene raised an eyebrow, "Is that your girlfriend?"
"Yeah." Manzanares nodded.
"Then you still let her leave alone with another man." Earlene couldn't understand his behaviour.
"Can't I?" Manzanares asked her in return.
Earlene choked, not knowing how to answer.
Manzanares curled his lips into a smile, "Miss Earlene, that's my girlfriend, so I trust her, understand?" And because he trusted her, he let her go to a private space like the bathroom with another man?
I don't know whether to call Manzanares naive or stupid.
Still, it was none of her business.
Earlene's mouth curled up in a sneer, "Mr. Manzanares is happy."
With that, she turned and walked away.
Manzanares looked at her back and grimaced, he was indeed happy.
The beauty trick was really the best.
Any man who saw a pretty woman couldn't walk away.
He glanced in the direction of the bathroom and the corners of his mouth simply couldn't help but rise.
Now he just had to wait for the good news.
...
Earlene accompanied Rawlins around the various guests, her mouth twitching with laughter.
She lifted a hand to rub her temples, which ached a little, and turned her head to look at Rawlins, who was chatting to the others, with a glint of disgust in her eyes.
He loved this kind of occasion because it was where he could sell his success and proudly tell everyone that the Bartram Group had expanded several times over under his stewardship. The thought of this annoyed her.
Rawlins caught a glimpse of her pale face out of the corner of his eye and hurriedly turned his head, asking with concern, "Earlene, are you not feeling well?"
"I want to go and rest." Earlene said in a cold tone.
Rawlins had meant for her to stay by his side all evening, like his wife, but now seeing how uncomfortable she seemed to be, there was something in his heart that he could not bear. "Can't you hold on any longer?" Rawlins asked.
At that, Earlene couldn't help but snort out a laugh, "Rawlins, so your face is more important than mine in your eyes, is it?"
"No, Earlene, that's not what I meant." Rawlins explained sharply.
Earlene took a deep breath, "Forget it, you don't have to say anything, I already know exactly what's on your mind."
With that, she turned and strode towards the quiet corner.
Seeing this, Rawlins rushed after her and pulled her back, "Earlene, don't be angry, I didn't mean it like that."
"Let go!" Earlene glared at him sideways.
Helplessly, he could only let go of his hand.
