Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1034: Trying to eavesdrop
The criminal's eyes dodged to avoid his gaze, but he still didn't give an answer.
No matter how Edgar asked, the other man acted as if he hadn't heard.
Edgar had no choice but to leave after chatting with Oficial Natal for a few minutes.
On the way back, Edgar sat in the back, looking out of the car window with a frown, and said thoughtfully, "It seems that the kid won't confess easily, Arlice must have told him beforehand." Ivor also frowned, "What should we do then?"
The most important thing now was to get the child to confess to what had happened with Arlice.
It would be a real headache if the kid kept sticking to his guns and not admitting it.
He thought for a moment and ordered, "You go and look into the child's family situation."
Ivor nodded, "Okay, I'll look into it after I drop you back at the office."
Edgar nodded and said nothing more.
Khan Group.
Arlice received the news that the man had been arrested and was so angry that he slammed his phone into the ground, the screen shattering instantly. Damn it!
He clenched his fists, his eyes all scarlet from so much anger.
He was on the verge of success, but Hector had interfered, and now this!
The situation was already very bad for him.
If the man could not withstand the police questioning and gave him up, it would be the end of him.
He pressed the intercom.
As soon as it was connected, "Dad, come to my office."
Without waiting for a response, he simply hung up.
A few minutes later, Farabee pushed the door open and walked in.
A quick glance at the phone with the burst screen on the floor and his eyebrows locked up, "What's going on here again?"
"The kid got caught."
At that, Farabee's eyes widened in shock, "Caught, how is that possible? Didn't they tell him to hide it?"
"Now is not the time for that." Arlice crossed his arms, took a few deep breaths and continued, "You replace someone to replace a way to see him and by all means tell him not to give me up." "I've already explained this to him, and it's costing me a lot of money."
"No." Arlice shook his head, "He's too young and I'm afraid he won't be able to carry it off, he must be reminded of it again."
Farabee nodded, "Okay then, I'll go and arrange it."
As he watched his father leave, Arlice dropped into his chair, leaned back and closed his eyes.
He still had to prepare for the worst, lest he be crushed by Edgar when the time came.
...
In the afternoon, Earlene arrived at Pierce's hotel as promised.
But to her surprise, it was Manzanares' girlfriend who came to the door.
"What are you doing here?" She looked the woman standing in the door up and down, her thin eyebrows furrowed slightly.
The woman raised an eyebrow, "I'm here, do I need to report to you?"
She glanced disdainfully at Earlene and turned to walk inside, "Pierce, the man you're waiting for is here."
Within moments, Pierce came over.
"Miss Earlene," Pierce looked at Earlene with a smirk.
Earlene nodded slightly and smiled inquiringly, "What's she ... doing here?"
"Oh. She had a fight with her boyfriend and is staying with me for now." Pierce explained.
Earlene smiled and didn't ask any more questions.
After all, it was someone's personal business and it wasn't good to ask too much.
"Are we going to talk here, or downstairs in the cafe?" Earlene asked.
"Let's talk here." Pierce said.
The SA Group's secrets were not suitable to be discussed in a public place.
Earlene nodded, "Good."
At Pierce's invitation, she walked in.
Manzanares' girlfriend had already made the coffee, and as soon as she saw her enter, she put it on the table, "Enjoy."
And then turned and went into the room and closed the door behind her.
Pierce saw Earlene staring into that room and smiled, "Raimunda is a very nice girl."
"You guys..." Earlene frowned.
"A gentleman would never force a woman." Pierce said.
Earlene smiled, and with a turn of phrase, said, "Let's talk about the virus."
Entering the room Raimunda pressed her ear to the door, trying to hear what the people outside were talking about.
Pierce opened his own computer and turned it in a direction so that the screen was facing Earlene.
"This is part of the information on the virus, so you can take a look at it first."
Earlene gave him a look and hung her eyes as she carefully perused the contents of the screen.
The further she looked, the more she couldn't hide the surprise on her face.
After reading it, she looked up and said in a slightly excited tone, "This is the latest virus you were talking about?" "Hmm."
Seeing her excited look, Pierce knew she was moved.
"Got all the information?" Earlene couldn't wait to know all the information about the virus.
Pierce smiled, a hint of cunning in his smile, "As long as you join the SA Group's research institute, you can read as much information as you want about any other virus, not to mention all of this one." Join the SA Group?
Earlene frowned, the Bartram family had their own institute, there was really no need for her to join someone else's institute and work for someone else.
She was hesitating.
Pierce hurried to strike while the iron was hot, "Miss Earlene, whatever terms you want, you name it, we can meet it."
Earlene smiled faintly, "Mr Pierce, it's not the conditions I care about, as long as I'm allowed to research."
"So you're saying yes?"
Earlene shook her head, "No. I'm running the Bartram family's institute now and I just can't leave."
At that, she smiled apologetically, "I know that your group's institute is one that many people are crowding to get into, so I think there will be better people than me for you." "But our group only wants you." Pierce turned the computer back around, "Once you can work on a drug to destroy this virus, you'll be world famous by then. Don't you want to?" "Yes, of course I do."
As a pharmaceutical researcher, what you want most is to be recognized by the public for the benefit of mankind.
"Then what are you still worried about?"
Earlene took a deep breath, "Why don't you give me a few days to think about it, okay?"
Pierce smiled, "Sure thing. Hopefully you'll have a satisfactory answer for me by then." "Good."
The two talked about the virus for almost half an hour more before Earlene got up and left.
Pierce had only shown her part of the information about the virus, but it was enough for her.
The most important thing for her now was to replace a way to extract the virus from Eloise's body and see if the two viruses were the same.
Pierce closed the computer before turning her head towards the man in the room, "You can come out now."
At that, Raimunda opened the door and came out.
His eyes swept over the computer pressed against his hand and he asked with a smile, "What were you guys talking about?" "You want to know?" Pierce asked.
Raimunda shook her head, "No. It feels like it should be something very confidential that I wouldn't dare know about." "Then why do you ask?"
"Curious." Raimunda smiled at him, looking harmless.
Pierce instantly dispelled his doubts and said with a smile, "Then don't ask later."
Raimunda nodded good-naturedly, "Okay."
She glanced at the computer, a strange glint in her eyes.
