Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1035: Bringing People Down

"Eloise, do you have time tomorrow? I'd like to ask you out to dinner."

Eloise was slightly surprised when she received this phone call from Earlene.

She thought that after what happened last time, Earlene shouldn't ask her out again.

Unexpectedly ...

She subconsciously did not want to meet Earlene and after a moment's hesitation, she politely declined, "Tomorrow? I may not have time."

But Earlene didn't give up. She asked, "Eloise, do you hate me?"

"No."

"Then why did you say no? I just simply wanted to have dinner with you."

Even through the phone, she could hear a hint of begging in her tone, and Eloise couldn't help but soften her heart and compromise, "Okay, I'll see you tomorrow then." It's just a meal, it doesn't matter, right?

"Thank you, Eloise," Earlene's voice leapt to life, "I'll send you the address of the restaurant later."

"Good."

Eloise hung up the phone and looked at the blacked out screen of her phone with a somewhat helpless sigh.

She hadn't wanted to hang out with Earlene anymore, so now she had slapped herself in the face.

Hector walked in and saw her sitting on the edge of the bed sighing, his brow furrowed slightly as he approached, asking softly, "What's wrong?"

Eloise looked up, pursed her lips and smiled, "Nothing. It's just that Earlene asked me to meet her for dinner tomorrow." Hector's eyes narrowed, "Did you say no?"

"No." Eloise took a deep breath and explained, "I actually said no, but she was too insistent and I couldn't refuse."

Earlene was quite nice except for her undeserved feelings for Hector, and should have genuinely considered her a friend. But the Hector thing alone was enough to get her upset.

Seeing her sigh again, the corner of Hector's lips curled up, "If you don't want to go, you can replace an excuse tomorrow."

"No, you have to be a man of your word." Eloise shrugged, "Let's just say it's the last time."

At that, something suddenly occurred to Eloise and she narrowed her eyes slightly, fixing him with a critical gaze, "Why did you tell me to cut back on Earlene then, did you sense something?" Instead of answering, Hector asked, "What do you think I sensed?"

"Well..." Eloise thought hard, "She likes you?"

Hector froze, "What are you talking about?"

He looked stunned, obviously unaware of this.

Although Earlene had said something to him about him and Eloise not being a good fit, he hadn't thought about it in any other way.

Nor did he know about these little thoughts of Earlene's.

It was true that men were slow to respond to such things.

Eloise brushed her lips, "Nothing, I just guessed."

Hector frowned, "You think she likes me?"

"Maybe." Eloise didn't want to continue this awful conversation, so she changed the subject and asked, "Do you have time tomorrow? Drop me off if you do." "Good."

...

The next day at noon, Eloise arrived at a French restaurant downtown at the appointed time.

Earlene had booked a private room.

Eloise pushed open the door, only to see that Earlene had already arrived.

At the sound of movement, Earlene turned her head and seeing it was her, got up and greeted her with a bright smile on her delicately made up face, "Eloise, come in and sit down." Eloise walked in, looked around the room and tugged at the corners of her mouth, "There's only two of us, there's no need to book such a big room, is there?"

"It's noon, it must be crowded and rather noisy outside. Aren't you not feeling well? It's better to be quiet."

Earlene was thinking of her in every word.

I have to say, it was a little touching.

"Thanks." Eloise smiled at her gratefully.

"We're friends, there's no need to be so polite."

Earlene pulled her down and poured her a glass of lemonade, "It's warm, you can drink it."

Eloise thanked her and took a sip.

She didn't notice the strange glint in Earlene's eyes.

"What made you think of asking me to dinner today?" Eloise turned her head.

Earlene averted her eyes in panic and coughed softly to hide her panic, "I met your cousin the day before yesterday and he said how I haven't asked you out lately. I thought it just so happened that I had time today, so I asked you to join me for dinner."

Eloise nodded, "So that's it."

Earlene had met her cousin the day before and yesterday morning he looked hungover and uncomfortable, I think it was because of her.

Thinking about it, she didn't say anything more.

After all, it was Cousin and Earlene's own business, not hers.

"What would you like to eat?" Earlene asked as she opened the menu.

"I don't know what's good for my first visit, you decide."

Earlene turned her head to look at her and smiled, "So it's really up to me?"

Eloise nodded, "Yeah."

It saves her the trouble.

As she ordered her food, Earlene stared at Eloise, looking at her intently, as if she was looking at something rare.

A little uncomfortable, Eloise looked down at her attire and asked suspiciously, "What are you staring at me like that for?"

"Well ..." Earlene hesitated.

"If there's anything you want, just say it."

Earlene took a deep breath, "I heard Mr Edgar say that you have a special virus in your body, is that right?"

My cousin had actually told her about this?

Eloise was taken aback, but quickly recovered and curled her mouth, "Yes, what's wrong?"

"You know I'm also in medical research, specialising in drugs, so I was a bit curious." Earlene explained.

"I have a friend just like you."

The person Eloise was talking about was Rowson.

He hadn't been in touch with her for a long time and wondered how he was doing now.

Seeing her unconsciously showing a hint of worry, Earlene asked tentatively, "What institute is your friend in now?"

Eloise shook her head, "I'm not sure."

"Oh." Earlene didn't press the issue, but turned the conversation around and said, "I know quite a bit about this aspect of virus research, I spoke to Mr Hector the other day, maybe I can help."

"Thank you for the kind offer. But Hector already has people working on it, so I don't want to cause you any more trouble."

The trouble was secondary, the main thing was that the virus was so special that if Earlene found out about it, she was afraid something else would happen.

Earlene smiled, "It's fine, I won't force it."

With that, she lowered her eyes to the time and the corners of her mouth curled, "It's about time."

At that, Eloise asked in confusion, "What's almost time?"

The smile on Earlene's face grew brighter and brighter, "No."

As soon as the words left her mouth, Eloise suddenly felt a dizziness in her head, was the virus working again in her body...

The vision gradually became blurred with double shadows.

She saw several Earlene's.

They were all laughing...

But what were they laughing at?

This question flashed through her mind before her head hit the table with a loud thud.

Earlene looked at her with a smile on her face, and after a moment, she took out her mobile phone and made a call.

"Come up here and bring the man down."
