Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1037: It's not because she likes you
Edgar drove home, his heart beating faster all the way.
It wasn't until he got home and saw Earlene that he slowly calmed down.
"Earlene," he said, looking at Earlene with a gentle, light smile.
Earlene looked stunned, obviously not expecting him back.
"What brings you back, cousin?" Eloise asked, pretending to be surprised.
Edgar looked over at her, only to see her give a wink, which he comprehended and replied with a smile, "I left some papers at home and came back to get them."
"What a coincidence then, it just so happens that Earlene is coming over to the house."
Eloise stood up and pulled Edgar to sit next to Earlene, smiling Brimlad, "You two take your time and talk, I'll go and help in the kitchen."
With that, she turned and walked quickly towards the kitchen, leaving room for the two of them.
Edgar peeked at the woman beside him, his hands nowhere to be found, and he didn't know what to say.
It was Earlene who spoke up first, "I'm dropping off Eloise, so I thought I'd drop in and visit my aunt."
"Oh." Edgar tugged at the corners of his mouth, "My mum likes you a lot, she's talked about you in front of me a few times."
"Thank you Auntie for liking me." Earlene smiled.
Once again, the two were silent.
Edgar was a little chagrined that he couldn't be more proactive when the person he liked was already around?
So he took a deep breath and turned sideways, his deep gaze locking on Earlene's cheek.
"Earlene, I... I really like you ..."
Earlene frowned and interrupted him directly, "I told you, I don't like you."
"Just take it easy and hear me out first." Edgar said.
Earlene nodded, "Okay, go ahead."
"I really like you and would love to have you as my girlfriend, but I know you have someone you like, but I'm not going to give up on that. If you stop liking that guy one day, will you consider me?" His face was so sincere that Earlene was a little touched, she smiled softly, "Edgar, you don't have to be so humble, you deserve a better girl."
"No, in my eyes, you are the best."
Looking into his affectionate eyes, Earlene couldn't help but feel a little dazed.
How wonderful it would be if he were Hector.
Seeing that she was staring at him, Edgar called out, "Earlene."
Earlene was pulled back by his voice and met his worried gaze, she averted her eyes in some panic and tugged at the corner of her mouth, "Thank you for liking it."
"I don't want your thanks, I just want you to think of me one day." Edgar said.
"Well ..."
His sincerity and deep affection made Earlene unable to say any more harsh words to him, but afraid to give him hope.
So she added, "Edgar, if you meet a good girl and you like her too, cherish her, you know?"
Edgar laughed, "That too, if you meet one."
She was all he could think of right now, and even if he did, he wouldn't see her.
On the other hand, Eloise enters the kitchen and walks straight to Brimlad.
"Aunt-in-law, everything's done."
Brimlad turned his head to look at her, walked to the door and probed in the direction of the living room, but couldn't see anything. She lowered her voice and asked, "What was Earlene's reaction to seeing Edgar? Was there much joy?"
"Er..." Eloise frowned in thought, "Not happy, surprised."
"It was surprise." Brimlad shot her an uncomfortable glare.
Was it a surprise?
Eloise tried to remember the look on Earlene's face at the time, and it was clearly surprise, not joy at all.
"By the way, did you call to get Hector back?" Brimlad asked.
"I'm not going to ask him to come back." Eloise whispered.
Brimlad looked puzzled, "Why?"
"He... is busy and I'm not good at bothering him."
Eloise made a random excuse, when the real reason was that she didn't want Earlene to see Hector.
"It's almost dark, he has to come back and finish his dinner."
Brimlad pulled out her phone, "You're not good enough to bother him, so I'll call."
She found Hector's number and was about to dial it when Eloise snatched it from her and said in an anxious tone, "I'll call, I'll call!"
Brimlad frowned, "What's wrong with you kid?"
"Nothing." Eloise smiled at her, "I'll go upstairs and call."
With that, she ran out of the kitchen.
Back in her room, Eloise thought about it and called Hector anyway.
"Eloise."
A gentle, low voice rang in her ear, and Eloise's still irritable mood was instantly soothed.
"When are you coming back?" Eloise asked.
"Already on my way."
"You're back already...."
Eloise's voice drew up at once and Hector cried out, "What's wrong?"
"Earlene's coming to the house." Eloise sat down on the edge of the bed and sighed softly, not hiding her thoughts at all, and said honestly, "I wanted you to come back later."
Hector sniffed and didn't ask any more questions, just said, "Okay, I'll be back later then."
Eloise suddenly felt as if she had gone too far and changed her tone, "Forget it, you come back."
Hector laughed, "Why are you changing so quickly?"
"It's not because she likes you."
Eloise muttered in a whisper that Hector on the other side of the phone couldn't hear, "What did you say?"
"Nothing, just come straight back."
After hanging up the phone, Eloise sat for a while before getting up and going out.
When she came downstairs, she found that Earlene was not in the living room, leaving Edgar alone.
She hurried over and wondered, "Where's Earlene?"
Edgar turned his head to look at her and ticked the corner of his mouth helplessly, "Gone back."
"Gone back?" Eloise sat down opposite him, "What's going on?"
"She said she had work to do."
Edgar ducked his head, hiding the frustration in his eyes.
"So."
As cruel as it might have been to Edgar, Eloise couldn't help but feel secretly relieved.
She had been worried that Earlene would see Hector, but now, well, the crisis was over.
Her mood was immediately relieved and she got up and walked over to Edgar and patted him on the shoulder, "Don't be discouraged, cousin. It's a long way to go in pursuit of someone you like, so go for it!" Edgar looked up at her and saw her clenching her fist to cheer him on.
He couldn't help but smile, "Good, I'll cheer up and bring you back your cousin's wife soon."
EloiseSweety gave a smile, "I'll wait for that day."
"What are you two talking about?" Brimlad came over and looked at Edgar and then at Eloise, "What cousin-in-law, did Earlene say yes?"
Eloise walked over, put her arm around her shoulder and laughed, "It's going to take a lot of hard work and a lot of cheer from your cousin."
At this, Brimlad shot his son a displeased look, "You, you're so unmotivated, watch out for Earlene running away."
Edgar lost his smile helplessly, "Don't worry guys, I'll try my best."
