Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1040: I'm afraid to see you cry
Arlice glanced at Taurino, who put his head down.
He took a deep breath and said with a strong sense of composure, "Maybe it's the same name."
Expecting him to say that, Edgar laughed, "I wish it was, but unfortunately it wasn't, it was the eldest uncle himself who went to the bank and wired the money."
"I didn't know that was a thing."
Was this something he couldn't explain, so he pretended not to know?
Edgar raised his eyebrows, "Fine, you don't know. Then I'll ask my eldest uncle to come over, I suppose he's always in the know."
"Edgar, don't be a bully!" Arlice became agitated and pointed at Taurino, "His grandmother can't afford to be hospitalised and my father was kind enough to help out. Do you have to think so badly of people?" "I didn't say no, but I have a right to know the truth."
With that, Edgar pulled out his phone and prepared to call Farabee.
At that moment, Taurino, who had been silent, spoke up.
"Things have nothing to do with Uncle Fang and Brother Fang, it was me who did that."
Hearing this, Arlice was secretly relieved that Taurino seemed to be planning to take the blame for the whole thing.
Edgar and Oficial Natal looked at each other, and Oficial Natal said, "Taurino, do you know what kind of punishment you're facing for doing this?"
Taurino was silent.
"You better think it through, if you insist that you did things on your own, without any instruction to you, then you may have to spend the rest of your life in prison."
At that, Edgar turned his head to look at Arlice.
He took a deep breath, suppressing the anger that was welling up in him, and continued, "You're only nineteen years old, your life is supposed to be colourful, and think about your grandparents, they worked hard to bring you up, is this how you repay them?"
Taurino closed his eyes, his hand on the table clenched into a fist.
This was a struggle for him.
If he still insisted on taking the whole thing on, there was nothing that either the police or Edgar could do to him.
It was for this reason that Edgar hated Arlice.
To let a nineteen-year-old boy take the blame, how cruel!
The interrogation room was quiet, waiting for Taurino's response.
After a long time, Taurino slowly opened his eyes and his hands loosened as he slowly spoke, "I met Uncle Fang at the hospital, and he saw me in pity and offered to help me pay for my grandmother's treatment in advance."
"I refused his kind offer at first, but he insisted on helping and transferred me a sum of money. I told him that I had borrowed it from him and that I would definitely pay him back later."
"Instead, he told me not to feel pressured and that it was okay not to pay it back. I didn't know how to repay such a big favour."
"Later, he mentioned about Frankson and said he was afraid that Frankson would harm Brother Fong if he woke up, so I thought of helping him to get rid of Frankson as a way of repaying him for his kindness."
...
He cried as he spoke, looking sincere and not like he was lying.
But Edgar knew that not everything he said was true.
Farabee and Arlice had never been good-hearted people, so how could they help someone for no reason?
But there was no way he could force Taurino to admit that Arlice had ordered him to do it.
It seemed that today's episode had been another waste of effort.
"I told you, there's no way my dad would do something like that to harm people." Arlice finally had the strength to say this.
He turned his head to look at Edgar and the corners of his mouth curled up, "Edgar, even if you slandered me, you still slandered my dad, he is your elder, you really went too far."
At this, Edgar could not help but smile, but the smile did not reach the bottom of his cold eyes, "Cousin, don't talk too early. The truth is clear to you all. Don't think that by dragging a nineteen year old kid to take the blame, you will be safe." The two men stared at each other, neither of them backing down.
Finally, it was Oficial Natal who interrupted, "We will continue to investigate this case clearly and give everyone a satisfactory result."
"Oficial Natal, thank you for your hard work."
Edgar turned his head to Taurino and a sigh escaped his lips, "Son, you're a fool. You have a family too, it's not worth it for you to do this, think of your family more."
"Edgar, stop baiting him!" Arlice snapped, "I know you've always had a problem with me, but there's no need to use such unseemly tactics against me."
"Cousin!" Edgar's tone turned heavier and his gaze shot coldly at Arlice, "Please remember, paper can't hold fire."
Arlice was too angry to speak and could only glare at him fiercely.
He had thought that confronting him face to face would lead to a good result.
Who knew that not only would it come to nothing, but Taurino would be made to take the blame for the whole thing.
"Bang!"
Edgar sat in the car, slamming the steering wheel hard, leaning his body back against the back of the seat, tilting his head, closing his eyes and locking his brow. If Taurino didn't change his tune, it wouldn't move Arlice at all.
The thought of Arlice's smug look on his face as he left made him angry.
The guy had come to the police station to confront Taurino because he thought there was nothing he could do about it.
Hector was right, he was still too young.
With that in mind, he raised his hand to shield his eyes and tried to think of what to do next.
...
Over here, Eloise got up early in the morning to help Hector pack his bags.
He was going back to City J.
"I'll take you to the airport." Eloise said reluctantly.
Hector put his arms around her, "No, I'll just have a driver."
"But I want to drive you." Eloise buried her head in his arms, her voice muffled, sounding a little depressed.
Hector let go of her and looked down.
Four eyes meet.
Lifting a hand to wrap the strands of hair from her cheeks behind her ear, he whispered, "I was afraid to see you cry, then I wouldn't have been able to leave."
At these words, Eloise's eyes instantly turned red, and she took a deep breath to hold back her tears, "I ... won't cry."
As soon as she finished, the tears didn't hold back and came out of her eyes.
Hector laughed helplessly, "And you said you wouldn't cry."
After wiping away her tears, he once again took her into his arms, his big hands gently rubbing her soft hair, "You stay in the Khan family, and when things are done, I'll come and pick you up." His voice was gentle, as if he was coaxing a three- or four-year-old child.
Despite what he said, Eloise didn't want to part with him.
"I'll go back to City J with you." Eloise said.
"Silly, I can't concentrate on things if you go back with me."
Eloise pouted and grunted in displeasure, "Are you resenting the fact that I'm going to interfere with you?"
Hector laughed, "Not dislike, I just want to get things sorted out quickly and come over to spend time with you."
"I know."
Eloise pouted and left his embrace, looking at him seriously, "I'll wait for you."
Hector smiled and nodded, "Good."
He couldn't take him to the airport, so he had to walk him to his door, watching him get in his car and see it fade away until it was out of sight.
Only then did Eloise reluctantly withdraw her eyes and turn around to go inside.
