Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1051: Falling into his hands
Edgar was pulled back to his senses by Mr Cranshaw's voice, he looked at Farabee who was kneeling in front of him, his brow furrowed fiercely and shouted in a deep voice, "Ivor!" Ivor heard him and rushed forward to pull Farabee to her feet.
But Farabee wouldn't get up, "Edgar, it's my fault, blame me if you want, it has nothing to do with Arlice."
Edgar finally understood that he was going to take the blame for Arlice.
"Eldest uncle, I am your junior, are you trying to break my life by kneeling in front of me like this?" He looked at Farabee with an expressionless face.
Farabee's face panicked and she shook her head in a hurry, "Edgar, I definitely didn't mean that."
"Dad, get up first, I believe Edgar is a sensible person and will not wrongly accuse people."
How did Arlice's words sound so ridiculous.
Edgar couldn't help but smile, but the smile didn't reach the bottom of his icy eyes, "Cousin, what kind of play are you and your eldest uncle playing, why can't I understand it?" "Edgar, I'm sorry." Guilt was written all over Arlice's face, "I didn't know my father would do something like that, if I had known I would have stopped him."
Edgar raised an eyebrow and looked at him quietly, not saying a word.
"Arlice, what the hell is going on? Tell me what's going on!" The one who spoke was the director on Arlice's side, and his tone was urgent.
Arlice looked at Edgar and smiled slightly, "Edgar, will you allow me to tell the directors the truth?"
Edgar nodded, "Yes, you tell them."
He even moved a few steps to the side, giving his place to Arlice.
It would be agreed because he wanted to see how Arlice would shirk his responsibilities.
As expected, Arlice blamed everything on his dad, while he, himself, knew nothing and looked ashamed. It's a shame he's not acting.
The directors were talking, and for a moment they couldn't tell who was telling the truth, Edgar or Arlice.
"Edgar, do you have anything to say?" Mr Cranshaw asked out loud.
Edgar scanned the circle of people present and the corners of his mouth curled up, "I just want to say that it is only true under my investigation, from the missing herbs to the warehouse fire to the cooperation with SA Group, I don't believe that ArliceMr Arlice didn't know anything."
"I really don't know anything."
Edgar turned his head and locked eyes with Arlice.
At this point, Farabee raised his voice and yelled, "Arlice he doesn't know anything, I did it secretly, all these years, the master has been biased, I'm not happy! I'm not happy that the master gave the Khan Group to Edgar!
I thought and thought and thought and thought of this way to trip up Edgar and make you think he was incapable of running the Khan Group. sorry sorry sorry, it was all my momentary obsession..."
Farabee regretted it, the look didn't look like he was faking it and the directors were slowly believing him a little.
"Great uncle, if you had such a heart, you would have been in a high position all these years ago." Edgar sneered out loud.
All they were doing was trying to keep Arlice, but he wouldn't let them have their way.
"Edgar, it's really my fault, it has nothing to do with Arlice." Farabee was still insisting.
"Dad, stop it, Edgar thinks I had something to do with it, so I'm not going to run away from my responsibilities, I'll do what the company wants."
Arlice wasn't defending himself either, which made the directors more willing to believe him.
"Edgar, could it be that you made a mistake in your investigation?" A director questioned.
"No." Edgar returned categorically.
"Then what are they saying?"
Edgar was about to explain when Mr Cranshaw suddenly said in a stern voice, "Edgar, how can you do something like this to damage the company and the Khan family?" Hearing this, Edgar looked at Mr Cranshaw in disbelief, what was he doing?
Did he believe Arlice and the others?
"Grandpa Cranshaw..." he said, anxious to set the record straight.
Mr Cranshaw raised his hand to stop him, "Edgar, you don't have to say anything. It's surprising that it was your great uncle who did this, the family scandal is not to be revealed, so we'll just sort it out ourselves." Edgar couldn't take it, "Grandpa Cranshaw, it's not what they say it is, it was Arlice who ordered all this, he has an unshirkable responsibility!"
His voice rose a few notches as he became more emotional.
The room fell silent as everyone looked at each other, not knowing for a moment who to believe.
"Edgar, have mercy."
Mr Cranshaw said this, and Edgar instantly understood what he meant.
He was trying to save the face of the Khan family.
Edgar slowly calmed down and he laughed softly, a mockery in his smile, "Yeah, well, there's mercy to be had."
He glanced sideways at Arlice, who was looking at him with undisguised amusement.
The double that fell to his side clenched slowly as he took a deep breath and said, "Farabee stepped down from his position and the Khan Group will have nothing to do with him in the future." This was to be expected.
So Farabee and Arlice were not the least bit surprised, nor did they plead their case again.
"That's it, that's the end of the warehouse fire, meeting adjourned."
With those words, Edgar turned and walked out of the meeting room.
As the directors rose to leave, Mr Cranshaw passed Arlice, stopped and turned his head, his sharp gaze falling on Arlice's face, and said in a deep voice: "Arlice, put your mind at ease, the Khan Group is not a place for you to mess around." Arlice nodded obediently, "I understand, Grandpa Cranshaw."
Mr Cranshaw gave him a deep look before striding off.
"Arlice, why would Mr Cranshaw want to help us?" Farabee asked in a whisper as she watched Mr Cranshaw's back as he left.
Arlice hooked his lips in a sneer, "For the face of the Khan family, for the face of the old man."
Farabee's realization dawned on her, "So that's it, I thought he was senile and took our word for it."
"Dad, I'm sorry for the aggravation." Arlice said.
Farabee waved her hand, "It's no bother, Dad will do anything as long as you're well."
Edgar went back to his office, raised his hand and tugged at his tie, closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths before suppressing the anger that was churning inside him. "President, is this the end of the matter?" Ivor asked cautiously.
"Or what?" Edgar turned around and looked at him coldly.
Ivor frowned with a puzzled look, "Why would Mr Cranshaw help Mr Arlice?"
"Why?" Edgar snorted, "Because Arlice's surname is Khan."
"Even if that's the case, Mr Cranshaw shouldn't have done that, he's condoning it." Ivor was resigned.
"Forget it." Edgar patted him on the shoulder, "Let's call it a day and just watch out for Mr Arlice from now on."
Arlice was unlikely to settle down anyway, and sooner or later it would still fall into his hands.
